I’d love to play bass in an AC/DC band. Just that locking in with drums & rhythm guitar, must be awesome. Good call re girl singer and original keys too, I’ve heard some bands try AC/DC songs where the male singer has sung at Elvis pitch, unable to hit the highs.

When I was in a band, we were the only sludge metal band in our area and our lyrics were weirder than anyone else's.

Waterloo is a floor filler. Usually 1st song in 2nd set and it just has a feel good vibe to it. Adding Mamma was based on audience response to Waterloo. Guitarist had played Mamma in a previous band and said it went down really well. Looking forward to playing it at the next gig. Dave -

I play in an acdc tribute band with a girl singer. There used to be a few girls doing it but not so much now. This works for us sometimes but you get some Dicks saying that they would never go see a girl singing the songs but the thing is we can do Bon Scott and Brian Johnston material in the original key whereas most tributes stick to Bon as they can`t hit Brian`s notes. I started doing dc tributes in 2012 but now there seems to be loads of them and some of them are crap, they seem to think that as long as you own an SG and a school uniform they are sorted. The key is the drummer and rhythm guitarist who have to be on it and luckily we have that, if you ain`t got them you are buggered. We would like to take it up a notch but the singer has 3 kids under 10 and a full time job so we just do whatever takes our fancy.

Thanks for that, I did come across them once but I can’t remember when, and I couldn’t find anything about them really, this might have been the track I heard

Hi, I have a 2013 4003 that has benn levelled to within an inch of its life and plays beautifully across the board except around the 3rd to 6th fret mainly on the D string, slightly on the A string, which have a slight fret buzz on the decay of the note. I'm stumped. The bass is currently flat neck with high action (3mm at 12th) and I've tried it with various levels of relief and action height. And always this buzz.... less so with high action or relief but still that area is the first to fret out. The bass does seem to resonate more around the offending notes so could it be that pushing energy back into the string resulting in the rattley decay?... The leveling seems good within 1 or 2 thou, with neck forced dead straight i can find no high fret. Any body got any ideas? Any thoughts much appreciated, Dave

Roland Bolt 60 The same Valve power section design as a Fender Deluxe Reverb Has Brand new Power Valves The Preamp needs attention as it is intermittently cracklly at the moment ( hence the price and parts listing classification) I guess it needs a service. I’ve been using it as a pedal platform bypassing the Solid State Preamp straight into the power amp and it that use case it’s given me no hassle. Collection only as lord know’s what devastation a courier might wreak!

After creating this thread I carried on looking searching to see if I could find an answer and I came across the same TalkBass thread @Bassassin posted above, but I never got the chance to post back here after finishing my shift. The post in that thread with the same string retainers as I posted here is from 2020, so likely not AI, but it's a 104 page thread! Not gonna read all that. I never considered pins from the back of the bass. I just found it a really neat system. Mark
