  2. Selling this complete setup for a bargain price. Amp has been gigged maybe three or four times and is in immaculate condition. This amp is capable of so much it's rather overwhelming to try and write it all down, but chances are if you're looking at this you know what it does so I will just link to the Boss website. The footswitch and BT adapter make the whole setup much more versatile, especially for live work, and the gig bag is a perfect fit and finishes off the setup nicely. Only selling as I am no longer using effects and am looking to go back to a simpler setup. I have the original boxes for the amp and the footswitch. Just to be clear, only the GA-FC footswitch at the bottom of the board is included in the sale.

  6. Severn Days - Clyde McPhatter
  7. I have used him in the past on an old Ric I had.. Black plate and TRC which he would only do on proof the Ric is genuine...
  8. Wye Does it Hurt When I pee? - Frank Zappa
  9. Sone good stuff on this new Dubmatix page, including this Joe Gibbs mix: https://bassculture.substack.com/p/the-mighty-joe-gibbs-hits-legends
  10. I'm also struggling with motivation. I gave up and sold all my gear last year then bought a new bass to start a new band with mates in January. That went nowhere. Since then I've been for auditions which went nowhere (I learned auditions work both ways). Now struggling to get motivated. I occasionally hear a song and think I'd like to play it but never get around to it. Going to see my old band (still good mates) is in one way really good (they're awesome) and depressing (they create a huge noise without bass). Need to find a band.
  11. Going to get local luthier Chris McIntyre to make me a short scale bass and currently musing on pickups / positions. Thinking I might put some MFDs in it, either a pair of L2000 pickups (if I can get my hands on them, although that does seem difficult) or the pickups out the cheap M2000 Tribute I have. I’m also considering going for centre and neck positions instead of centre and bridge, like the custom Fallout in this picture below. Anyone any thoughts on pickup choice or placement etc?
  12. I'm not keen on changing a bass but i'd like to get a 2nd VM4 or TM4 and change the humbucker just to see how it sounds. I love the playability of my VM4. Dave
  13. Many thanks for your insights.
  14. I’ve probably got some bass books I’d send you if you want them (free, if you want). Just send me a DM.
  15. That's a great idea. I used to read when I played piano as a kid half a century ago. I so regret not keeping my reading up when I switched to bass.
  16. Cam dancing. Kinks
  17. Don’t put your mind or body under and pressure! I agree with Bilbo’s advice above. I am currently learning how to play classical double bass (where you have to read music and play with a bow). It’s a completely different instrument and approach, but it’s transformed my electric bass playing, and improved my jazz sight reading. Whatever you do, ensure it’s fun. Sounds like you need a bit of that…

  19. Try learning to read music? Assuming you can't already. 20 minutes a day and in six months you won't know yourself. Two years and you'll be the best reader on Bass chat! It opens musical doors in terms of learning. There are some decent packages out there, Jeff Berlin's course is decent enough, but all you really need is a simple explanation of the basic principles and the rest is just doing it, again and again and again. What is also good about it is that you don't have to be inspired. You just have to do it. It builds technique as well as reading chops all without needing to 'think' about it. Time well spent.
  20. That bass looks amazing, love the scratch plate, hope it plays and sounds as good as it looks John 😎

So sad to hear. I had a couple of meet-ups with Sam and, as anyone else who did, felt as though I'd known her for years after our long chats. One time in snow and ice at Thurrock services and we both got frozen We all know that Life isn't fair and Sam certainly had her hand dealt from the bottom of the deck.
  23. There's a sparkly red one in Sheffield at the moment that is £300 on eBay but reduced to £250, I think, on Reverb (or somewhere other than eBay, anyway). Collection only. For £250 it is tempting to strip and oil, except I have no way of colleting from Sheffield.
  24. Bonnie and Clyde - Georgie Fame

  26. The online course option really drove me forward in terms of motivation. Specifically Jaymes Bass Academy because there are monthly challenges that keep me interested and give me something to work on for the month (as well as the courses). Jayme is also reasonably active on the forum giving feedback etc.
