I think they keep going out of fear of dying if they stop. They need something to keep them going and people keep buying tickets. My parents saw The Who back in the early 2000's and said they were past it then.

A sixty (?) watt combo with a single 12" called a 'Syncron'. It was utterly dreadful. I remember, young and clueless as I was, I still got a sinking feeling when I first heard a bass through it. I notice a slight lack of love for Carlsbro. Not to be contrarian but I rather liked my Cobra Combo (12" speaker, one of the early ones with the controls on the top). The push button filters were really awesome with the Aria P I used to play in those days. Really heavy though. Maybe I only thought it was good because it came directly after the Syncron....😆

Have a thing for piano black finishes lately. The Nordstrand in my other Prestige MS5 sounds really great and the preamp is useful, too. This new SR line has an upgraded preamp with the hexa mid system for what it worth. There is a 5506, pretty much the same specs with different woods and finish. One thing I'm noticing tha the bodies are wider than they used to be and i'm not liking it.

Actually I totally mistranslated "cardiology" in my mind as being cancer-related. D'oh! It is of course heart-related.

Great band: classic divide with some hating post-Fish but that’s all a bit “Metallica after the Black album were rubbish”. The early work is pretty brilliant but even there I found a lot of the slower/softer tracks mawkish and bleurgh, and it’s the longer, proggier tracks I prefer, mainly because of the guitar playing. They do a two or three day event at Port Zelande every year recently that I tend to listen on Spotify when it appears). And I recall them doing fanclub releases way back when too; they really survive on their fan loyalty. Some of the early H stuff I have found poppy and so-so, but having re-listened to their entire catalogue several times there’s some amazing music on there: Afraid of Sunlight, Real Tears for Sale, No One Can are all great tunes, H is a heck of a singer. Some of their longer works are pretty epic listens: Estonia, Ocean Cloud… Steve R has done some good solo albums that are worth a listen also. I think he was once described as somewhere between Andy Latimer and David Gilmour. I’ve liked Pete’s playing since the first Transatlantic album. He probs would get mentioned more if he played at the front and did wild things, but he doesn’t (nor does he need to)

I hope it works out, but...subs have to be considerably larger than mains, which means heavier, for the same reason that basses have longer necks and larger strings than guitars. Otherwise we'd use guitars tuned an octave lower.

I paid $350 for my '65 Bassman. That was the average monthly wage at that time in the US. I paid the same for my '65 Jazz Bass.

I didn't take a pic but Amber's new bridge (not pictured below) weighed in at 188g. I've amended the calculations to reflect that. It's all installed now and she still rocks. No A/B comparison as I changed the strings, polished the frets with the FRTLZR up to 7000 grade (lovely job, if do I say so myself), detuned and set up to Eb Standard with EXL170 Balanced Tension 45, 60, 80, 107 strings to a nice low but not-too-low action. She's pure gig rig now and really sweet.

Very sad news indeed, Sam was one of the first BC'ers to welcome me and always took the time to help me out. A very sad loss indeed. Bless you, Sam xx
