  1. Past hour
  2. How would you define tonal aggressiveness?
  3. I was also wondering about this. How is talking about modifying a brand new bass effective marketing? Made little if any sense to me. I've never been more grateful for the 2nd hand market. Fender are charging quite a lot of money for that passive tone circuit.
  4. Speaking of Ashton-under-Lyne, these guys have a Tribute M-2000 in stock. The shop is legit and has sold one of my basses in the past. Smooth transaction, they even sent me some good packing material. The M-2000 is a more traditional model as it has a 3 band EQ and the MFD pickups are a bit underwound (but apparently still hot). Maybe something to look into too? https://www.sellusyourguitar.co.uk/product-page/g-l-tribute-m-2000-gloss-black-electric-bass-1
  5. We're fairly busy up until the end of May and then it goes quiet until August for some reason. We've been actively promoting to pull gigs in for June/July but not much headway as yet.
  6. Weird that he talks about the empowerment of modifying instruments yourself, when this is a pre-modified instrument. He talks a lot if rubbish in general, however. Adding a J pickup to a bass gives you more midrange?! Agree with the idea that Fender have been shown up slightly by the spec Sire can deliver for less money.
  7. Would be lovely mate, bass account back to £0 after the recent purchase
  8. We have 16 gigs in the diary for the rest of the year including a few festivals and a theatre. We're also releasing an album this year to coincide with our appearance at The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival in August These are exciting times for me! Rob Edit: PS: I also turn 60 in a few weeks and my wife and I are off to Tuscany to celebrate.
  9. I have a Sandberg TM bass which has a MM pickup that is a little closer to the bridge than the Stingray and a humbucking single coil (yes I know, but you know what I'm trying to say here) that is about 1cm closer to the 12th fret than a standard P bass. Crucially it also has an active passive switch in the preamp and the treble control turns into a slightly agricultural tone control. In a live music situation it does a very passable P bass sound in passive mode. Just my thoughts, and I'm sure purists will be burning effigies of me within minutes I've not tried a passive"Stingray" tone yet, but will give it a go to see what it sounds like.
  10. First mistake right there! Normally the answer from our drummer is "What's a key?" You quickly figured out it was a tone down, so E to D. If you'd played it in D, maybe used an octave down if you have one, and then thrown your bass at the guitarists after you'd played the song!
  11. I recently looked into getting a G&L L2K (again). Apparently, they are the poor man's Wal and, as a big Tool fan, I really need one (as I cannot afford a Wal). Anyway, I came across these beauties (yes, I like red basses): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/356755443903?itmmeta=01JRYXYQJQB3DPQAJGK1RVSWX6&hash=item53104810bf:g:D4gAAOSwwJVn5CbN Killer looking bass with some interesting history: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/anyone-know-any-info-on-this-g-l-l2000-bass.1596387/ The bass has been on ebay since March 26th. I guess the asking price is a bit on the high side. A price between £1000-£1200 is probably more realistic. Probably worth reaching out to the seller with a reasonable offer. This one I found in an online "bargin[sic} bin". Made in Korea Tribute model (so early 2000s). They normally get rave reviews. Great looking bass. Again, the asking price is probably a bit too high: https://www.m-guitars.co.uk/gl-bass-guitar-legacy-l2000-cherry-sunburst/5900 Well, I eventually decided to get a Spector Euro (again). I ordered it from Japan and it has been stuck in customs for 9 days now. Well, should have gotten one of the L2Ks instead, I guess.
  12. Herbie Floters and Shy (feels a bit sacrelegious that one)
  13. Just to confirm, the Hipshots are 'USA' and not 'Licensed', so you can switch them to the left or right of your headstock.
  14. Bump for price drop £2100
  15. I enjoyed that. She's obviously very nice and happy and having fun with her lot. Imagine being in a position where when you get GAS, the Fender custom shop just make it for you and send a pair over? She's living the life and good luck to her I say.
  16. Creatures of the Night - Kiss
  17. Today
  18. Nocturnal Supremacy - Cradle of Filth
  19. Owl Long Has This Been Going On? - Ace
  20. 👏👏👏 double whammy. Fear of the Duck - Iron Maiden
  21. Judging by your post, it's much harder than it looks!! Any photos of your new kit?
  22. Turn Turn Turn - The Byrds
  23. I really liked the colour of the butterscotch one in the vid, looks much better than in the photos. Agree there`s not much here that`s new, but maybe Fender are reacting to what people have said they prefer, they mentioned a redesigned/better preamp for example.
