  1. Past hour
  2. I know this is an old post @Ian McFlybut do you still have this & are you interested in selling?
  3. Thanks. Those are the ones I found on an old Squier bridge I have but it's too big!
  4. I recently bought this from BC and love the sounds so much, I'm now selling it (and a Walrus Audio Canvas) to raise funds for Black Panel '64. It's in excellent condition with no signs of wear. If you have any questions, please get in touch!
  5. The Revelation is a cheap-as-chips but well made unlined fretless that simply works. This has been my main beater in a blues/ rock band since 2019. Sounds great and never let me down. I have upgraded the solid basics with a KiOgon loom, ToneRider pup and better quality, lighter machine heads. It works perfectly, but couple of small issues. The screws that hold the machine heads on actually come through ever so slightly the other side. There are two holes on the face of the body. Plus I have experimented with some relic-ing which I think looks superb but no one else does. Fitted with a set of brand new Maruszczyk flatwound strings. £75 collection only from the middle of the bulge of East Anglia. If it doesn't sell I'll just keep it as back up.

  6. You might get a bit more interest in your new low price if you were to include it in your title, e.g. PRICE DROP £1000. Just click on the the three dots to the right of the original post and you should see "Edit". Then you'll be able to edit the title box. GLWTS - I agree this is a ridiculously low price for such a quality bass.
  7. Another vote for 'Mr PC'. A solidly Good Read.
  8. They are madness. I've used various converters and it's definitely a 3. I counted the number of threads on the screw at 14 and it's 3/8 inch long so that comes out as 37.3 tpi so it would be 3-36 or 3-40 possibly. Still can't find anything online locally. I'm resigned to just trawling round the guitar places with the saddle and the screw I have and trying to find one that fits. I've also asked the guy who sold it to me as he is a big vintage dealer and may have some lying around.
  9. I too own this fine book
  10. European Super State - Killing Joke
  11. Welcome back. Are you working on any books at the moment? I enjoyed this one very much and often dip into it when listening to relevant cds.
  12. OK, I only have bathroom scales, so not super accurate, but definitely sub 10 lbs, I'd say between 9 and 9.5 lbs. Bloody light considering the lumber involved.
  13. I'm a huge fan of Thomastik strings, rounds and flats. Low tension, so supple, and great tone. I'm not sure how I've accumulated so many sets, but the descriptions below might shed some light: 1. Single B string, in great shape. £15, but can combine it with one of the other sets. 2. 4 string set, cut 4 inline, BUT with a busted G strings (cue sniggers). The G seems to be a weak point with these rounds, as it's happened to me more than once. Not whilst playing, but when putting on different basses. The string retainer on a Fender style headstock seems to wear/expose the core... £20 posted. (Also, the A has an exposed core) 3. Same as above - 4 string, 4 inline, but another busted G! £20 posted. 4. Another 'slight seconds' - this time the G is just shorter. Cut for 4 inline, the G has some silk on it, but would only reach a 2 a side G tuner. £25 posted. I'll number the pics, which should help. Cheers.
  14. More mystery; I know they're D'Addario, but that's it. Can't remember how I came by them, but I'm not a fan of roundwounds, unless they're Thomastiks, so here they are for sale. Not heavily used. They've been on a 2 a side bass, but judging from the winds on the G, I think they were cut for 4 inline. Price includes postage. Cheers.
  15. Know hardly anything about these strings, can't remember where they came from (on a bass, separately, in a lucky dip?), or the gauge, just that being D'Addario, they are very good! Price includes postage. Cheers.
  16. it did indeed! My apologies! Now back to the Ian & Scott hate Sadowsky sentiments!
  17. 1 mystery set of short scale flats: black silks at ball end, light blue at t'other. They play nicely, but I prefer lower tension. Maruszcyck flats, very smooth indeed, but fairly stiff, so not for me. Don't know the history of either set, I've played them on and off, but more off than on. Tons of life in both sets. Price includes postage. Cheers.
  18. I absolutely love Thomastik rounds, got these 2nd hand here. Supple, smooth and very toneful. They're listed as medium scale, but fit 30" very happily. Unfortunately, the E string is noticeably duller than the others. If you can cope with that, these might be just the thing for you (!). Price includes postage. Cheers.
  19. Bought these from the marketplace here, they're nicely worn in - bright with the tone fully open, warmer with tone down. I'm not a fan of roundwounds, so here they are. Don't know the gauge, or composition, sorry. I think they're nickel... Price includes postage. Cheers.
  20. Sold, pending the usual
  21. See I’ve got to the place where my h9 is on the chopping black - then see someone on here using it and get tempted to hold keep using it!
  22. If you like the Gallien Kreuger sound then the GK Plex preamp does a very, very good job of replicating it in pedal format. It has a 4 band EQ and loads of different contour options etc, but the main ‘special sauce’ it has is the ‘Voicing’ button which selects 1 of 4 diff GK amps to use/sim (800RB, Fusion 550, MB800 & MB150). Anyway those amp sim’s alone, with no other EQ or anything else - particularly #2 (Fusion 550) and even more so #3 (MB800), give your bass that GK ‘sound’ in an incredibly authentic way - it’s definitely as you described, totally flat with just the MB800 voicing selected. It blew me away the first time I ran it through a PA and went out front for a listen whilst sound checking - I knew it sounded good at home, was very impressed, but it’s sometimes hard to know what it’s really gonna sound like till you’ve tested it at volume, and the GK Plex is fantastic. When I actually sit and think of all the preamps I’ve had & gigged with, a lot of them sound pretty plain if you’re just talking about how they sound flat -stuff like the Aguilar Tone Hammer, Ampeg SGT-DI, Capo etc - they all dont start giving you the special bit of mojo you wanted until you engage the drive/gain channels and fiddle about a bit, they all sound pretty different but just going into the board flat you might not tell one from the other, but the Plex is unmistakable as the ‘GK sound’ I had a WA Goliath tube preamp/DI for a bit and that had a very unique and thick sound too just at flat, but for the amount it cost it bloody well should have done 👀
  23. Well this discussion certainly took a turn!
  24. This keeps coming up and I have to keep remindig myself, I'm here to SELL a bass, not to buy a new one... 😅
