NSD - Behringer Model 15 (and Model D)
BassTractor replied to BassTractor's topic in Other Instruments
🙂 We understood. 🙂 As to my Behringer Model D, there was a known issue with it, which was easily taken care of with a new wall wart and a firmware update. In case someone owns one or is on the fence: the weird declining click-like sounds in the Sustain phase, for nearly every second note, vanish with an update to v 1.1.2, so let that aspect not hinder you. Now I've heard the Model 15 and Model D together, I'm even more impressed with the Model 15 than I was a few weeks ago. Its tone is sooo sweet and luvverly that it brings me back to models like the Moog 35. The third oscillator, against my expectations, isn't missed at all on this one - given that the thing has so much to offer elsewhere on the panel. Also, from limited experience, it seems to me as if it's more stable than the Model D. I can't remember having had to retune at all, which is much needed on the D - - annoyingly so. This is in stable room temperature and both synths placed side-to-side on a table. I've always loved the Minimoog to bits, but am shaking my head in disbelief over the Model 15. -
. . . . being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November. Always nice when the bass player gets some recognition.

QC’s go for £1100 - £1200 I find second hand, the sweetener is how much extra stuff can you get for that like a DC7 and Solo 18. But you will get the occasional £900 bargain. I ended up going open box because I wanted the warranty on something so expensive and the ability to send it back but some of the deals I saw were near new price. If you can list in a dip in supply when Thomann and Guitar Guitar don’t have any in stock you can really ask a premium. I’m looking forward to these Anagrams cropping up for 600-700, that’s a real sweet spot for something so powerful.

Bought my 2009 4003 Rickenbacker, really nice guy. Sent funds immediately, shipped the bass to the address provided, good comms the whole way and he confirmed receipt. No problems whatsoever, deal with confidence. I too was concerned he had no posts, but checked in with Hobbayne and now I can confirm Gkats exists and this deal was flawless. So if you’re reading this with those same concerns, you’re al good, deal away.

What's Unique About Your Primary Band?
Stub Mandrel replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
Two bands. The three piece blues band's secret weapon is an insanely talented young guitarist, the drummer and I have played with Alex long enough to have a sort of telepathy so we can improvise while staying really tight. Basically, if blues rock fans see us once, they come back Unfortunately, Al is also in a breaking indie band (playing Isle of Wight this year...) that are busy and getting busier. The other band is a bit different. We are all in two bands and have nothing to prove. We play songs we like (anyone can veto a song) and don't shy away from stretching ourselves. Our schtick is ckasdic rock, but we have an eclectic set list with songs people now but don't expect. Sex Bomb and Devil Woman, alongside Pressur and Time and War Pigs. We try really hard to be professional. We polish our songs, work hard on our sound, have lights, a banner, an image, cool posters, lots of humour and play with attitude. -
I have too many guitars! I’ve decided to sell a bunch of guitars and buy one really expensive one… so next up in my clear out is acoustic guitars Ibanez EW20ZWE - good overall condition but does have a couple of fairly big dings and some lacquer cracks it’s had since bought new in 2007 (which I have email proof of if required). Restrung with Ernie ball earth wood phosphor bronze strings for the sale. Electro acoustic (srtn preamp and tuner built in). comes with Ibanez gig bag - £250 Epiphone EJ-45 - good condition with only pretty minor age related wear/scratches, and restrung with Ernie ball earth wood strings for the sale. etc - £200 Eko E20 ebony ranger - pretty beat up and has the lacquer cracks on the front a lot of these suffer from. Cool as hell and I’ll include a new set of strings as although the strings are new I have been using it for home recording. £150 *Sold*Ibanez EWC20EBE - very good used condition and restrung with Ernie ball earth wood phosphor bronze strings for the sale. Electro acoustic (srtc preamp and tuner and chorus built in) comes with gator semi hard case - £300*sold* Collection Plymouth Trade offers welcome on other music gear - guitar, bass and drum stuff mainly… Things I’m particularly interested in; Burny Japan guitars Peavey T series guitars & basses Yamaha L series acoustic guitars Yamaha Japan drums Yamaha reface keyboard cp/yc Rode m3 / m5 mics LR Baggs acoustic para DI

Ralph, who always insists on attending our rehearsals, and then curls up on the floor farting and snoring, would be much more useful to the band if he took the lead of his puppet counterpart.

FOMO is strong with this one, but i echo that running both wouldn't really be a great solution to get behind. Cutting down to it could be anytime option, but don't know what the used market is like for QCs. I'd want a good chunk of money spare at the end of it.

A few things make us stand out. First, we're an originals band, maybe a few obscure covers here and there. Been going 26 years, have a good loyal following of all ages. No desire to be more busy than a dozen gigs a year. We have 7 albums out there on the usual channels. Second, we have no normal drum kit. Our drummer sold his a few years ago, (presumably to buy food since he'd just been chucked out by his girlfriend) and he came up with this: Nice small footprint, no cymbals! sounds great. We also have one of these wonderful things: If someone was to ask me what kind of music we play, I'd probably say Psychedelic Country Pop and instantly regret it.

Hi. I started playing bass guitar in November 2024. I already knew all the power chords on a guitar and can make full chords with two hands on a piano. Once my arms were long enough at age 14, I played the trombone and achieved a grade 4 merit from the Royal Institution of Music. I played pop music on keyboards in the 90's, power pop on guitar in the 00's as an amateur, and both instruments in a wedding band after that for real money. Now I am to play bass. It is my calling. In November 2024, I happened upon a small pawn shop. Inside hung a 4 string Harley Benton TB-70. The bridge studs were coming out. I bought it and fixed it up. I plug into my Pod GX USB sound module into PC, or I have a tiny guitar combo for scratching about, monitoring on headphones or speakers. I've been practicing about an hour a day and don't feel half as awkward now. About a third of the awkwardness is still there. I've not bought an amp yet. I'm waiting to find out which world tour I get invited onto once I put some demo's out. Here it is. Big and heavy. I chose songs for practice that use different techniques. I've recorded my progress using bassless backing tracks found on the tube. It's a lot of fun. HB-70 demo 1 mp3 HB-70 Demo 2 mp3 That's my benchmark to improve from and lots of work to do. That feels like enough about me. I look forward to chatting with you. Yours sincerely Al Nico.

Just to provide context, I am a tightwad. I could pick up a 2nd hand, abused P body for not much. A 5 string P body would mean spending proper money. By the time I have dropped £450 on a body, I am entering the world of spending what a decent bass could cost if I add all the hardware. I am more than capable of talking myself into overspending. I do not even need another bass; this would just be a fun project. And you know how I feel about you calling me Shirley.
