Will Basschat survive the Online Safety Act?
rwillett replied to fretmeister's topic in General Discussion
Given the weight of some of the basses, I struggle to pick up my Jazz at times -
I’ve heard some of these non lumberg ones aren’t great - anyone any experience of these from switch https://www.switchelectronics.co.uk/products/2-1mm-x-5-5mm-panel-mount-dc-power-socket-dc-022b

5 feet 6 here, and although I managed with a Thumb BO 5er back in my late teens, early 20s, I wouldn't want to be playing one now in my 40s! I moved it on, primarily as I wanted to go back to a 6 string, and couldn't afford to keep both, but once I went to a more comfortable bass, I could never go back. The sound was immense, they looks SO cool, but ergonomically, a very bad design compared to a lot of others out there, including other basses in the Warwick catalogue.

Thanks @disssa @bremen - I did but it looks like that just have the unbranded power jacks like in the picture . i havd however managed to copy in a Spotify link I can’t delete of a friends band. I can’t remove on my phone so enjoy.

It's not generative AI. Generative AI is what powers things like ChatGPT or Dalle and can be thought of as auto-complete on steroids. Whilst I don't doubt some people are using them to build recommendation engines, recommenders are traditionally using something like collaborative filtering

RE battery boxes, I've replaced them on both my stingrays (3EQ, 1998 & 2001) with the following which fits perfectly: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322826391603 RE the jack socket, I think you can get pretty close with standard parts: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265241820441

FS: Ashdown Drophead 200 fliptop combo
Beedster replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I might split the head and cab after all, the Ashdown cab was surprisingly good with my Ampeg PF-50T, and using the cab as intended - as a flip top - is a whole lot easier with the weight of the Ampeg than with the Drophead itself (I'm also not a fan of the current Ampeg flip top cabs). Another little voice in my head is also saying 'Just sell the Ampeg................' 🤔 -

5,8 but otherwise nailed on for me 😂 I once played my fretless with a group of bass players and my intonation of the first position on the G string was awful. I just couldn’t get near the note. I probably play 50/50 acoustic and plugged in at home so if it sounds good acoustically that helps.

Pow_22 started following To feet or not to feet, that is the question...

For some reason my Gen 1 Barefaced compact doesn't have feet and there are no holes to suggest it ever did. I have thought about adding some as one regular place we play has a laminate floor that doesn't appear to be particularly level and the cab rocks slightly on that surface

I bought a bass from Aled. Nice bloke. All as advertised and it would have been nice to have longer to chat. I'd happily deal with him again.

I'm still yet to understand why electric basses that need amplification are judged acoustically. I'm always willing to learn however so what exactly am I missing with this? If the amplified sound is good isn't that the point?
