Struggling with sound engineering guitarist
Beedster replied to mrtcat's topic in General Discussion
Sorry mate, if it's still going on after you've discussed it 'a whole load of time' then you've not had the grown up conversation. Given what's you've said, especially that it keeps happening but you don't want to walk, i think it's as Steve suggested above, tolerate it gracefully 👍 -
Amazing Lego Minimoog project - please support
bass_dinger replied to Quatschmacher's topic in General Discussion
Lego will have a shock when they put it into production, only to find out that all the votes came from poor musicians who are saving up for the real thing, or were bassists, or are waiting for Behringer to create a homage to the original instrument.- 29 replies

If you're all on IEMs... Why wouldn't he want you to sound the best you can? He can sound like whatever he wants through his monitors... Ego or idiot?

I don't know if this link will work ok, but here's the best quote I found (£34.80 with Evri) https://uk.interparcel.com/quote/select-service or here, which includes Parcelforce for £55 if you prefer; https://www.parcel2go.com/quotes?col=219&dest=219&mdd=0&p=1~10|180|100|10"eType=Default By all means see of you can find something better. I went with 10kg, 180x100x15cm The only issue is that's it's covered for only £20. I can add more protection to the Parcelforce quote, but I need to add you address to continue. Also, can I have your address to add to the order, please.

Good call Paddy, i have a pair of super midgets and use an eich t 900 or little mark 3......boosting the lows uses up valuable headroom.

I had similar problems with the Boss Waza Air, I can't remember exactly what now but it wasn't just automatic if the phone had connected to other devices in the meantime. My Sony headphones almost do the opposite, they automatically turn themselves on - I start a Teams call using my Laptop speakers and it somehow turns on the headphones that are on standby (and not on my head), my JBL bluetooth speakers have their own idiosyncrasies when connecting two of them, my car bluetooth does some very annoying auto play things and seems random about which phone it decids to connect to. So as long as the Bluetooth actually works I give these things a bit of a free pass as it just seems the way it is with Blutooth to have slightly odd ways of connecting to different devices. These Positive Grid headphones are now on my shopping list, seem to be sold out everywhere though.

Time for a bit of a clear out. This is a mono dual gig bag, great case but I’m not using it at the moment. I would describe it as ‘tired but functional’. This has seen a lot of gigs hence the low price. All zips work as they should. Please note one of the ‘tick’ attachments is broken but could probably be sewn back on if you have the skills! pickup preferred from Chessington or central London. Could potentially bag up and post too. Some photos of condition but for any specifics, do ask.

Accidental NBD... G&L Tribute SB-2 - the return

I can hit the shop websites for pictures, but this is where the stories belong. I think it's more interesting to hear the process behind the purchase. And I can always use some of the arguments for making the purchase in future decision making of my own. 😀 -

Excellent response @Hellzero - I think you have listed almost all the heads I was considering. The Vanderkleys are hard to find and serious money here in UK, tbh I was thinking up to a grand (£ of course) and I think the Vanderkleys are well above that and used ones are rare as... If they are as good as the cabs they will be supergood (love the 210s a lot!). I think I'm going to try a GROne; Agi AG 700 and an Eich 900 - for a start. Thanks for input👍

It’s been rigged. Note that I’m not suggesting some kind of armed insurrection at Chateau RichardR, though obviously an m16 could be quite handy. So definitely don’t go there. I’m not suggesting it. Honestly. Don’t like, form a wild baying mob bent on vengeance or anything like that.

What we used to refer to as "the early dart" - always a favourite.

I heard that Trump said 'the nice 5 string is the best, best 5 string.' And, apparently, he's going to buy the Gear Abstinence Thread. Or take it. Or hit it with a tariff. 😀

Very cool pic.

There's absolutely no issue with having a grown up conversation. We're all friends and we have done well over 700 gigs together and none of us are the sort to get fired up. I've had the conversation with the guitarist and the rest of the band a whole load of times and generally there's an agreement that the guitars and kick need to be tamed a little and the bass less buried but it lasts a gig or two before it goes back to the same old same old. The drummer never knows what it all sounds like because he never gets to listen from out front and we're all on iems so it always sounds fine in our own iem mixes. The singer (who also plays guitar) does hundreds of gigs a year with various set ups (solo, duo, deps etc) and literally is only worried about getting paid. I don't particularly want to walk. It's decent money and they're a good bunch to hang out with. I just feel frustrated that, no matter how often we discuss it, it always slowly creeps back to the same noisy guitar fest and that just makes me feel like I don't add anything to the sound. We get good feedback from clients and we do a fair few corporate events where pa and sound engineer is provided. It always sounds ace then. A lot of the problem is that we're largely playing wedding venues and loads of them sound terrible anyway. There's just this reluctance from him to bring the levels down and have more balance.

Need one of these: We're always asking our lead guitarist to turn down (and drummer to slow down.....and I do like a drink!). It just seems to come with the territory that lead guitarists generally want to be the loudest thing, they need reining in - so giving them control of the mix is probably best avoided.

Sean, you do realise that was not a mixing workshop, it was group therapy, yes? And if you haven't seen it.... -
You could stick one of these in it: https://www.emgpickups.com/bass/accessories/btccontrol.html It's the smallest option. Treble and Bass on a single stacked control.
