  2. " The crowd was older." Does older mean younger than me and a few others here? Lol Daryl
  3. Playing in the house band at our open mic I was asked by another bassist if I would play his bass so he could hear what it sounded like (sigh). Cherry red P. As he handed it to me I only got a glance at the headstock and I thought I saw a circle with a ‘K’. Played a few runs on mute and the neck was ok. When I ‘pressed play’ it was awful. The two outer strings had no volume at all so you had to dig in to them. The two inner were so loud if you touched them they were overwhelming the band mix. The only ‘plus’ was that it was really light! Afterwards he thanked me and said how great it was sounding and as I handed the ‘Kay’s Copy’ back I noticed there was actually a pick in the strings over the headstock logo that made me think it was the Kay Logo. Underneath I saw an ‘F’ so asked him what it was. 1962 Precision was the reply. Owned since new he’d basically ‘given me a treat’ to play an awesome Vintage Bass! I was very thankful I’d thought it was a dog as it would save me thousands as I now didn’t want to own one! Unfortunately that was short lived as he brought its sister, a blonde 1962 jazz, to the next OM. That was LOVELY!
  4. Hi ,can you check the shipping costs for Sarajevo 71000,Bosnia and Herzegovina, thanks, all best
  5. PM replied to. Sadly, I've had several postal "issues" lately, both sending and receiving parcels 😞
  6. If she is willing to dish it out, then I would not be afraid to tell her what you've shared with us. The occasional mention of her more egregious errors would do no harm, especially if delivered with meticulous politeness and respect in a supportive manner "I could see you were having a few minor issues with that passage, have you considered...?"
  7. I had one, it was absolutely awesome. Great basses.
  8. Agreed! They really are a great piece of kit!
  9. Repost from the Fender Rumble discussion.... I use the Rumble 100 with my Shen. I have an LR Baggs between them. I struggle with settings that make the string volumes similar without sounding artificial. Best so far: I notch between D and G and keep the preamp gain low. I use the Rumble's master to increase volume -- using the Baggs volume knob above nominal causes really crazy bad sound.
  10. A bit of an odd one last Friday for the seven piece swing/jazz standards band. ! 100 years ago North Bay was incorporated as a city and there are many events going on to mark this and we played at the Italian club's old style dinner dance at their hall. An hour of cocktail music and then they fed us and the 160 guests and at about 8:30 we started our dance sets that included some Italian songs. The crowd was older and although we had a few dancers and others who sat around to listen to us we knew it was going to be a earlier night than they planned. We played two sets and finished not long after 10:30. Great food(prime rib) and I had chats with some of the attendees so all in all not bad and the ten or so Italian tunes we learned went over OK and we had some compliments on our music. As usual my weapon of choice was my Shen SB100 straight into our Bose PA. We were set up in a corner in a fairly large hall so we had no idea how it actually sounded. Downside is that after 7 years as a band the drummer decided to quit the next day after enduring a lot of hassles and criticism from the trumpet player. I am also a target but so far I can handle it, she is a music teacher and sometimes likes to treat us like one of her school students. She is often right but her attitude is the problem and no one ever calls her on her mistakes, very frustrating but I like the rest of the band and the music so I am hanging in. We have a good dep drummer for the next couple of gigs in May and June and BL is starting a search for another drummer, the one who quit is very good and was an asset to the band. Life goes on.

  13. Bird scarer is probably the nearest....
  14. I'd also recommend Newtone strings. They'll make something up to order. They might cost a bit more, but the custom gauge strings on my Dingwall are still sounding good 8 months later.

  16. Great pedal which is not really getting used. Think I have the box somewhere. It's in great condition bar one missing screw (no idea why but the base is solid as you like). Good quality velcro. About £215 new so good price to take into account lost screw. Heading away on holiday on Monday but can send before then if anyone wants a quick sale.
  17. Someone in the Netherlands is selling two (!) Peavey TB Raxx preamps: https://link.marktplaats.nl/m2254244925 Ad says they're already on hold, but not sure if that's about both. Same seller also has a H&K Fortress preamp with poweramp and floorboard for sale.
  18. Exactly. It wouldn't happen nowadays because of the smoking ban, but there are other issues. I always tell people no drinks on top of the amp. Some give me a funny look, but if that drink goes over, the fan will suck the spillage into the amp and bang. New amp time.

  20. I was going to make this point too. I used to have an old Park valve head which was designed for bass but was bought off me by a guitarist who reckoned it was the beat amp he'd ever played though. I assume this is why the original Fender Bassman amps are so popular with guitarists too. GLWTS
  21. Presumably the post-maternity-leave name.
  22. If a small plastic spatula is a system, then yes… I’ve started cutting it in half lengthways to have thin strips on either side of a pedal. It seems to work. For the most part I’ve been able to peel off Dual Lock without too many issues (apart from blisters) but there seems to be a point where once it’s been on a while it becomes trickier to remove.
