  1. Past hour
  2. Sounds like you need to have a grown up conversation with your guitarist 🤣
  3. Who will the guy listen to? Not the rest of the band apparently, not the punters (what would they know about mixing?), so can you get an expert in to ‘work on your live sound’? If it’s a matter of making the gigs bearable for you, then being able to set your own IEM mix could be a win.
  4. Tascam Bass Trainer CD-BT2. Great condition, fully functional with original power supply. Velcro on bottom. £60 posted ONO.

  5. You know, when I got mine a couple of years ago, I thought about getting a (non-aged) pearl pickguard done, but never got round to it. So... I might join this bandwagon. What's the best way of contacting Brian these days - still through Ebay?
  6. One of the above, in good condition, boxed and with instructions. Price includes postage in UK.
  7. Well f*** me sideways, I think I've seen it all now
  8. As above, made by Earlpilanz who can be found on EBay. I’ve put shielding tape on the back. The holes for the pickups were too small for one of my JMJs but not another, they’re easy enough to widen though. £25 inc postage in UK.
  9. If postage ever becomes an option please DM me @Lozz196 and let me know, this would have sold within a week if it had been I think
  10. Response plot in the case of the Handbox R-400.
  11. One of the above, good working order, Velcro on bottom. £50 inc postage in UK.

  12. The BC has led strips under the grill which you can still use if you get yourself a new power supply for it (prob a tenner or less).

  14. Agreed, which I think is why it's best to simply tolerate it. I think our guitarist is way too loud, but he's a great guy and a great player so I tolerate it. At gigs musicians tend to say 'He's too loud' while punters tend to say 'He's a great guitarist'. Everyone has a different perspective/expectation, as bass players we're often just as bad as most other band members. Note the most.......
  15. There have been many times in my life, including now, when the bass I’m carrying is worth more than the car it is in…having said that, can I charge more for dings, which are asynchronous unintended organic tone divots?
  16. Sterling StingRay Shortscale A great little short scale bass for the money, plays and sounds fantastic - really captures that StingRay growl using a passive pickup. It is all original except the machine-heads which I replaced with Hipshots. The reason being I found it a wee bit headstock heavy. The eagle eyed will spot that one is a USA version and this is because the Hipshot licensed tuners I had in my spares box are none reversible. The bass weighs an astonishing 3.1kgs so great for those with bad backs or shoulders. I don’t think there were many imported in this black and maple finish and it certainly has that classic StingRay look. I had a single ply black scratchplate on it for a time however it is supplied with the original faux tortoiseshell. Nice low action, fresh D’Addario 45-100 nicklewound strings. No gigbag but I have a Sterling box should you require it posting. Selling because I have been buying far too much! Postage UK only at buyer’s cost. I can knock off a few ££ if you want me to put the original tuners back on.
  17. Tort anything ought to be considered a war crime so if I'm ever appointed as the head of the ICC that will get a lot of people in a lot of trouble. 10 years in the dilithium mines at least!
  18. I was tempted to go back and edit the post so that @King Tut, @Geek99 and @Franticsmurf all have "most excellent" 5 string basses, but that would confuse future generations reading this thread.
  19. Problems are: It’s very “modern” to have a huge cannon sounding kick drum. Guitarists (it seems most at least) just can’t handle singers getting all the attention, hating their “number 2” role. Getting past both is going to be difficult.
  20. Very fair question. I used the word uncoloured quite casually. I know what my P/J sounds like DI into good desk and back through studio monitors or good phones, so for me that's the reference. I also know how it sounds into my PJB Briefcase at low levels (the only levels you get with a Briefcase!) and I reckon that is very close to the actual bass's sound. But I accept that all amps are somewhat coloured, cabs are too. But I think some have a pronouned 'sound' and you either want that sound or not. I think I'll know it when I hear it, and it'll likely be one of those amps that a majority think of as 'neutral', quite clean maybe... pick a word!!
  21. Great pic Tim, what strap are you using, looks like a good one to support a weighty bass.
  22. Sorry mate, if it's still going on after you've discussed it 'a whole load of time' then you've not had the grown up conversation. Given what's you've said, especially that it keeps happening but you don't want to walk, i think it's as Steve suggested above, tolerate it gracefully 👍
  23. Lego will have a shock when they put it into production, only to find out that all the votes came from poor musicians who are saving up for the real thing, or were bassists, or are waiting for Behringer to create a homage to the original instrument.
  24. If you're all on IEMs... Why wouldn't he want you to sound the best you can? He can sound like whatever he wants through his monitors... Ego or idiot?
