  2. ButtPlug-In Baby - Muse
  3. I won't complain. It was " Midnight Rambler" not Rush. Lol Daryl
  4. Underrated basses.
  5. Plastic Fantastic Lover - Jefferson Airplane
  6. Awesome entry level pedals up for grabs. Sonicake Octaver - a surprisingly good Boss OC2 clone, and an Amoon true bypass tuner. The tuner can emit a slight high pitched whine when in use but of course it's totally silent when off (True bypass) Both pedals in excellent condition, £25 for both!

  7. I've been waiting for the 4 string to come along so finally went for it last night. Ever since I lost weight, I have struggled to get any of my basses to sit right. Maybe something to do with the angle that they sat against my stomach that they don't anymore. I've tried all of the usual routes - grippy strap, Ultralites, even my own version of the double strap but it's just not comfortable and after a couple of songs I start moving the bass around for the rest of the gig and end up with a sore shoulder. Hopefully the headless bass is the answer. Having never owned a headless bass before, if I do the mod with the thrust bearings, is it simply a matter of fitting or do I need to grease them as well?
  8. Rubberband Girl - Kate Bush
  9. I found another one with a bridge (?) like that, but the vast majority of the Skjold basses have more traditional ones, including the new range. Those look like pins. https://reverb.com/item/63509553-skjold-cathedral

  14. Morning all, After some advice on a protein TE set up. A chap local to me is selling his AH150 head and 15” TE cab. It looks in very good condition and the light still works etc.! I’ve currently got a TE 715 SMC that I gig with. Can anyone tell me what the difference is, apart from the obvious stuff! They look to be very similar amps but wondering if anyone can tell me which is more recent, if one is better than the other etc. Thanks in advance, J.
  15. Now it just looks odd to me... I've done it on all my Steinbergers and clones for many years, especially as it's so simple and cheap to do.
  16. Oooh, been wanting to try one of these heads for a while, alas i am fully cabbed up. GLWTS
  17. There was a guy on one of the luthier's fora (maybe TB?) some time back that had a top made of driftwood that looked similar and I quite liked it. There are plenty of barncasters and FSO style clones that are made of all sorts of old timbers; I have some in the shed that will eventually be made into bodies*. However 7300 squids with a load of bollocks in the marketing type mean I wouldn't go near it, unless it was in a store nearby and I could try it for interest's sake. Might even be good. * Because I like the aesthetic. Oh, and I don't buy into the tonewood thing at all.
  18. Either an AI special or what appears to be pins inserted into the body laying back at an angle, catching the end bobble things.
  19. There's a luthier I follow on instagram, Cindy Guitars who's usp is using reclaimed wood she's obtained from various old New York buildings. Some of her instruments can look a little 'distressed' and are probably not to everyone's taste, but as far as I'm aware she doesn't claim any mystical tone properties for them. https://www.cindyguitars.com/ This is an interesting example https://www.cindyguitars.com/#/hshdh-1/
  20. Specifically the ball end of the strings, they look like they've just been pinned into the body. How is this done? Is it a peg like on classical guitars? Is it a screw? I saw the image in a random post on my Fb timeline, I searched for a more accessible version but couldn't locate it so screenshot the one on Fb. Mark

  22. Excellent I've been surprised by what trios can do. I saw a trio cover " Eleanor " by The Turtles with all the harmonies. Daryl

  24. Definitely one of the better finishes for the SB-2s...pearl pickguard puts it over the top. I'm betting GHS black tapewounds would look great with that maple fretboard.

  26. Hi, I think I get what you're trying to achieve with the wiring system you describe and I'm not sure it would quite work like you want....but nearly 🤣 For me the key to this is thinking about how the signal passes through the system. From your description above the switch has 3 states - series / single / parallel: Single - the full signal runs through only Coil B direct to the Master vol control. Parallel - Coil B - as above, the full signal runs direct to the Master vol control. Coil A - the signal runs through the secondary volume pot which attentuates the signal before going to the Master vol. In theory this should allow you to blend A and B coils together in varying amounts. Series - the signal runs through Coil B and then through Coil A and into the secondary volume pot which would obviously affect the total output from both coils. This would just be acting like the signal going direct to the Master vol pot. I've done a few series / single / parallel set-ups in the past using either a 6 pin DPDT for each humbucker or one 9 pin DPDT to control both pickups at the same time. What I've noticed it that main change in sound is when you go to Series (fatter & louder). Going from single to parallel is a bit more subtle and I'm not sure how useful a volume pot giving incrementaly small changes to an already minimal change 🤷‍♂️ If you're doing a lot of recording where you can make the best of theses subtleties then it's probably worth trying. On the other hand if your gigging, then once the drummer has counted 4, you're lucky to hear the bass never mind any nuances! 🤣🤣 If you do go ahead let us know the results as it would be interesting to hear what the results are both from a useability and audio files. 👍
