  1. Past hour
  2. Had a quick look at the TV12 - it's quite the thing! It's really not something that would work in my context to be honest. The Vypr ... not seen much about it, but the Postive Grid app looks to be quite alluring. Will see how I get on!
  3. I've not seen a bass AND guitar Katana. They seem to be designed for one or the other which seems odd as you'd basically just need to have a FRFR cab and an amp that could model either/both. I do have fond memories of the Polytone Minibrute from the 80s though but those are bonkers heavy and rare and kind of collectible now.
  4. How does it feel and play? Did you need to do much corrective work on it? Looks great
  5. I can see the point but it's not a stretch to imagine they've squeezed a 75wpc stereo class d amp in the box. It's not going to go particularly low, but in a small space it ought to sound as good as a decent HiFi. I once managed a gig with a 40w Fender Rumble and you could hear my bass above the drummer! Admittedly, I rolled off all the low bass and it was mostly honk but you could tell what notes I was playing! Having tried one out in a store I think this could probably hold its own in a rehearsal space if I absolutely had to use it (well, with our current drummer, maybe not the last one - he made a LOT of noise) but where it really comes into its own is if you want to do a cafe gig. Anyway. Will report back!
  6. Gosh, you have a far more interesting life than I do. The female drummer and I, (the whole band) spent a few hours last night tiding up our very first song that we have written. We're dead chuffed (thats a gross understatement) as neither of us have written anything musical before, and if you heard us play, you'd know why We have the basics but the middle 8 is actually a middle 12 and I have no idea how to get it down to a middle 8. The joys of learning. Anyway, I can now say I have written an original song and have recorded it with another musician. Will it make me a fortune, doubt it, but I've broken my duck here. Rob
  7. I had a flick through the basses - they look amazing!
  8. This is a more general question, which is why it's not in the Behringer thread. The mixer allows eq at 3 stages overall. Channel, monitor and FoH. I would expect (within a little), the first 2 can be pretty well set, with the FoH eq being tweaked for the room at each gig (if necessary). My question is with regard to the channel eq. Can this be set while using cans? It strikes me it's more to do with the actual sound of the voice and, if that's the case, wouldn't cans work at this stage, with the overall FoH eq compensating for the effects of the room you're in? It seems logical to me, but I'm barely a novice at this. Any advice gratefully received.
  9. Surely the boss katana? Guitar and bass specific ones.
  10. Have just taken delivery of an Ashdown Ant from James. Great communication throughout, speedy delivery and bomb proof packing. Thanks James.
  11. I have one, it is very good, possible to plug in your mic for your volume and eq and then a line out to the main PA ….it took me a while to sort that out. I position it on a low mic stand about 3 feet away facing upwards to me/my mic.
  12. Mackie 802 VLZ3 mixer Cracking little desk, I've used it for home recording and gigs - sounds great for both. Tons of features, great mic preamps, full working order, complete with PSU (euro plug with adaptor). Selling as I'm just not using it any more. Manual here http://kunstencentrumbelgie.com/overbelgie/802VLZ3_OM.pdf £90 posted, knock a fiver off if you collect from Bewdley DY12 I'm in Manchester, Liverpool (ish) and Leeds over the next couple of weeks - happy to meet at a services or even drop off if you're near the right motorway. Trades - I'm interested in a Cioks Sol, Jamerson's original P Bass or *possibly* a compressor pedal - feel free to offer anything else.

  13. Big nope! Unless they're EMGs
  14. @Sambrook, the "L" is the "Laredo". IIRC, it had chrome hardware, where the Cheyenne (& Cheyenne II) had gold hardware. For some reason, the 4004's just weren't as popular with the buyers as the "traditional" 4001 / 4003 models. IIRC, unfortunately, they were discontinued a few years ago (can't recall when), presumably because of the lack of demand.
  15. Actually I've had 2 necks from ebay The 2nd one is on my Adam Clayton '74 Pbass look-a-like it came from here https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/highendguitarneckstore?_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l170197 It was a 21 fret jazz bass with dots and a nice amber tint on the neck
  16. Did you catch the part where I said I could be wrong? No way am I getting into a debate about this, life is too short for that.
  17. Tanglewood Elf Bass Guitar. Very small only 90cm in length so perfect for kids, travel or just a bit of fun. I bought it for my kids to play about on and as a result it has a couple of cosmetic dings which I've tried to show but still plays and sounds great (pretty much gigable p bass tone). Some interesting relicing on the headstock where my dog had a nibble when he was a pup. I tuning peg replaced with a better quality closed back tuner. I think I still have the other 3 which I will include (probably worth more than the bass!). I've owned it about 10 years and it is now gathering dust so needs a new home. Trials and collection at Downend in Bristol or postage at buyers cost and risk.
  18. Photo with covers and thumb rest fitted.
  19. A slightly unusual rehearsal with the originals band as it's the first time I've left the previous rehearsal with a male drummer and come back to this one with a female one, and they're the same person. Our BL is somewhat stressed out by work at the moment and exhausted, so there were a few mistakes, but we got a good foundation for the next song, just sorting the middle 8 out, and we weren't too bad running through the existing songs.
  20. I was going to make this point too. I used to have an old Park valve head which was designed for bass but was bought off me by a guitarist who reckoned it was the beat amp he'd ever played though. I assume this is why the original Fender Bassman amps are so popular with guitarists too. GLWTS
  21. By eye with my trusty expending tape measure it measures 17mm
  22. I have a positive grid spark also. Its really good for my incredibly limited guitar ability, not so good for bass. I also have a Fender bassman TV 12 reissue which is very good for guitar (in my opinion, I'm no guitarist) as well as bass. There's the Peavey Vypyr modelling amp that claims to cover both guitar and bass, I have no experience of it though.
  23. Yes, my 1980s Squier JV Jazz, which is a similar vintage to the OP's Fender, and a copy of a 60s bass, is wired the same. I reckon Leo figured it wouldn't matter with the giant ashtray over the top hiding it. EDIT - mine is the same size and look as Clarky's original example, not as wide and shiny as the OPs.
