The older things get, the more remarkable it becomes when they've managed to stay unspoiled. I'd agree that 20 years ago, a 78 P Bass wouldn't be held in much regard, but that was 20 years ago. Now it's nearly 50 years old and still has all it's original parts. Regardless of if it's a gem or not, it still seems a little sad to start pulling parts off of it now after it's stayed intact for so long. Changing the pickguard is especially egregious to me. There are plenty of brand new P Basses that can be done to. Ultimately, it's the OP's bass and he can do whatever he wants, but it'll just be one less instrument that stayed together and that's kinda sad to me.

I don't see the problem. Nowhere in the description does it say that it's graphite. Those tuners, incidentally, have their pros and cons. Stringing is dead easy, you just put the string through the middle of the knob. Saddle height adjustment is more awkward, you have to screw the actual saddles up and down, like a Warwick Just-A-Nut I. Intonation is also awkward, as the anchor screw is under the string so you have to move the string out of the way to adjust it. - Yesterday

Another little anecdote which I didn't actually witness but do trust the couple of mates who mentioned it, at different times... Marillion were playing in Birmingham, probably the old Hummingbird, a few mates (some years before I met them) were there, one of whom, Ben, is a *very* big Maori lad...apparently waiting at the bar Fish tried to muscle his way past Ben to get served, Ben was having none of it and told him to wait his turn like everybody else... a while later one of the band's crew came and found Ben and said Fish was quite impressed about somebody standing up to him and invited him for a post-show drink backstage. Ben said "Tell him he can go and .... himself" (I have also found myself stood next to the singer of a well known goth troupe at the same bar in the Hummingbird, shortly before they went on stage, so it wasn't unknown lol)

A fantastic overdrive from Spaceman. What really makes it unique is that it has a resonant filter that allows you to create big filter sweeps when used with an expression pedal. It’s not quite as dramatic as a dedicated resonant low pass filter but still produces really nice sweeps. In excellent to mint condition and includes box and shiny space bag…for cables, miscellaneous plecs, space rocks etc. Price also includes shipping or you’re more than happy to collect from Reading/London. The top one of these two pics is probably closest to how I see it. I’ve just been playing through my GK Plex as a headphone amp tho, and I think I’m in love 😍 Admittedly I’ve had more basses than poor Harvey Price has had stepdads, but this is perfect for me at the moment, so impressed!

Tariffs mean you pay more for the items and so you're really fining yourself. Choosing not to buy the items is a zero-cost approach.

I'd rather my money stayed in the UK, Europe, or went to Canada or the far east than to the US. Whenever there's talk of targeted tariffs against the US, they tend to mention whiskey and motorcycles, and I often wonder why they don't also include musical instruments and associated gear.

I bought a copy of the remastered version on CD a couple of years ago, but having been brought up on the original vinyl found it too processed - I ended up buying a 'first edition' CD pressing which pretty much came straight off the vinyl masters instead.......

I wonder if it's the same red finish as the BBPH. I'd assume so as that is the same deep red indoors/bright red outdoors kind of difficult to photograph finish.

Mine looks almost browny/purple in the picture I posted, but it looks a very bright red in yours! ☝️ It’s definitely lighter IRL than the pic I posted tho, as long as I avoided the Matt black I was happy - I’d have owned one ages ago but I reneged on the deal cos I didn’t want Matt black. It was more for the fact it’d end up looking minging at gigs with all the sweat etc, I just couldn’t keep it looking good in a Matt finish and I don’t like black basses at the best of times. That Sunburst 434 looks great - if that had the inlays too I wouldn’t know the difference between that and the P34!
