Had a busy day today, on both projects I have got on the go right now. Here's what happened on the shed bass. First of all, I offered the neck up and used some string to see how the alignment was. Not too shabby, as it happens, with the neck almost along the top edge of the neck pocket, just needs a slight angle away which I will hopefully be able to create with a bit of veneer. And scale length looks good with the neck pocket the depth into the body it currently is. Next wee job was to drill out and fill the old neck screw holes. I checked them a while back and they were a little jaunty and I wasn't happy to use them again, so they need to be filled. Now, because the neck pocket had to be routed out to clean it up of all the glue and unevenness caused by the removal of that infernal glued in neck, the result was that the neck pocket was too deep - the 21 fret overhang of the neck was sitting on the top of the body, but the bottom of the heel wasn't making contact with the bottom of the neck pocket. So I used some 2mm thick maple veneer (intended for headstock fronts) and got to work shaping it to fit the neck pocket. Then it was glued in and clamped down. So, toddling along nicely, more neck pocket fettling to be done then it'll be time to fit the neck...

Chris, I could go on and on about the mentality of some owners and managers. Think "clueless ". Lol There's a way for bands to cut that issue off at the pass. As soon as you arrive you kill the managers and staff with kindness. If you can do this these type of folks are less likely to act up Daryl

Complementary to Guy Pratt's book is Nick Mason's book Inside Out, if you happen to like Pink Floyd.

Agreed. We're also not what you would consider main stream. However, we have our niche and there's plenty of venues for us to play. We know the venues where you know the crowd wants covers like " Don't Stop Believing " . It's better for us to turn those gigs down. Daryl
-
Agreed. Over here when a venue changes hands it's undoubtedly the " kiss of death " for the bands. Daryl
-
As mentioned, mine produce noise if I plug them in straight, but if I plug them in to a lead that is connected to the input, the noise goes away, so I guess it needs the filter network of a guitar cable to filter out the noise. Interested to hear what the A58s are like, I looked at those (and the fender ones) as a replacement for the WS90/WS70s I use but haven't picked anything yet.
-
That's a very unfortunate scenario. Here's another issue. The band arrives with members acting like "diva rock stars" and making unnecessary demands on the venue. It seems like such an easy proposition. We work for them ,they don't work for us. Daryl
-
Agreed. Relieing on call back business might work for a while and with some venues. However not a good practice for bands that want to make money. Daryl
-
Too loud is an issue and the venue might not tell you that was the reason a band wasn't asked back . I say, in the case a band is playing a restaurant or anywhere you are providing background music, keep the volume low. And if your in a loud band, maybe not accept the background music gigs. Daryl

I bought this to use as a backup whilst my old amp was being serviced. It’s a superb little unit. Bought new recently and rehearsed and gigged a couple of times since. Works as it ought to and is very powerful. I used it through my 8ohm cab and it was loud and punchy. It’s got some cosmetic surface scratches on the top but nothing terrible. Boxed with mains lead and manual (I think). I can post in the UK. PayPal please.

I only use my Boss CEB-3 Bass chorus in conjunction with the SY-1 on my board to add a pseudo rotating speaker effect to an organ sound.

Personally, i take them out and use masking tape to affix them to the inside of the pickup cover, then put the covers back in the case/storage.
