As far as I knew, they'd had him on an electric kit for some time now. Maybe he's just sick of that thumpy sound of sticks hitting rubber pads behind him 🤷

Video: 'When Expensive Music Gear Becomes Obsolete'
LukeFRC replied to AinsleyWalker's topic in Effects
the other thing with this debate is often people seem to realise that a lot of analogue parts get retired. When I first got into building pedals in the DIY land the big thing was folk making JFet versions of amplifiers schematics - and a lot of J201 being used. It's pretty hard to get hold of reliably and in any volume. That was only 10 years back... So even if you're a manufacturer designing an analogue product you're thinking about product life cycle. yeah, they now need a pair of tweezers too! If you compare effects pedals now to twenty years ago the benefit to SMD is price and size - so people squeeze far more on the same size board! -

My next gig will be going to see Michael Schenker @ kk’s steel mill on the 8th May. On his “My years with UFO” tour

That's a mixer, not a splitter = only the last part of the chain. It doesn't take standard pedal power, so it would be awkward to put on a pedalboard. I didn't know about the Joyo Orthros before, that looks pretty decent - especially for the price. It doesn't have a crossover, though, so you would need to use EQ on the pedals in the loops.

Pom Poko at Bristol Beacon on Thursday the 5th of May. They always put on a great show! Seem to be getting bigger and bigger venues too. Last time I saw them it was at Thekla.

Thanks for the message. I have got pictures of quite a lot of them and I did think of doing a (very) mini personal version of Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass, but I am wondering what She Who Must Be Feared And Obeyed would do if it was ever discovered. Most likely something injurious to my health and wellbeing.

Raising the bridge pickup closer to the strings or lowering the other two should help level out the volumes a bit?

you know how it is with ibanez, wait to get one second hand and it will be less than half the price

Yes, my 1980s Squier JV Jazz, which is a similar vintage to the OP's Fender, and a copy of a 60s bass, is wired the same. I reckon Leo figured it wouldn't matter with the giant ashtray over the top hiding it. EDIT - mine is the same size and look as Clarky's original example, not as wide and shiny as the OPs.

My Fretless Safran has a hidden PU underneath the end of the fretboard. The pole pieced go through the fretboard so you can adjust them. There's also a piezo under the bridge saddle, mixed with a John East MPM preamp, this combination is great!

I can only repeat that I get a great result with a single 12" sub. I guess it's not optimum performance but it sounds great to my ears, and others.
