  1. Past hour
  2. 60th birthday party for the sound engineers wife last night, and the Hulla band were asked to play a short acoustic set in the marquee in the garden. Sacrifices were made to the rain and wind gods and it was dry and warm. We played without drums and after a trial run the week before it was obvious that my acoustic bass couldn't cut through in the mix so I went with my Ibanez AGBV200 through a little Vox practice amp. As the MC was our sound man, the mix was good. It was meant to be a surprise so the instruments were hidden away in vans, behind hedges etc until we all gathered in the tent, much to the delight of the birthday girl. We did about 30 minutes and had everyone (around 50 or so) up and dancing from the start. One of the reasons I love playing with this band is that we always enjoy the gigs, and the kinds of audiences we play to are there to enjoy as well, so we rarely get the drunken idiots mentioned elsewhere in this thread. (I've experience them in other bands and 100% sympathise with you). No photos have emerged yet, probably because the party went on way after we'd finished. 😀 Footwear - black Skechers lace-ups. Here's one I took of my kit.
  3. I had one, it was absolutely awesome. Great basses.
  4. I've very recently imported a bass from Japan it was definitely close to this. Very efficient service until it lands at customs in the UK, that's when the fun starts, not with the seller, Fedex on the other hand... clueless.
  5. This is definitely worth the asking 👍 I did a similar headstock reshaping to mine, which suits it perfectly. I also changed the scratchplate to clear and tinted the neck to a more amber shade, and it really looks the part to me. GLWTS!
  6. Another retirement sale item. This little amp lived in my gig bag as a spare and has had virtually no use. It's in pretty much as new condition, which should be obvious in the photos down below. Everything that it came with from new is included. The mains lead, a small jack to jack and a USB. Complete with the original box and instruction booklet. I'm happy for it to be road tested here at my place, although you would have to bring along a cab as I've now sold both of mine. It can be collected or if required, I can send via a reliable courier, which would be around £18. (If you want a cheaper courier, let me know).
  7. Focusrite ISA One Preamp I absolutely love this preamp and I'm only letting it go as I’m seriously downsizing my music studio space. It’s great on all sources and adds a professional sheen to everything. I particularly like it for vocals, and it has the best DI for bass. 1 Channel ISA series transformer-based preamplifier. Lundahl LL1538 Input Transformer. Mic / Line / Instrument input. Flexible independent DI channel. Dedicated insert point. Line out / DI out. Switchable impedance. Headphone output with volume control. Backlit VU meter with variable calibration. High pass filter. Switchable phantom power: 48V. (Optional AD converter: 192 kHz - not included). Dimensions (W x H x D top to bottom): 220 x 104 x 254 - 290 mm. Weight: 3.9 kg. Condition is used but very well looked after. I have tried to show any scratches and marks in the photos. Bedroom studio use only, in a smoke and pet-free environment. £365 £5 p&p
  8. Up for sale is my Noble DI Preamp. Works fine, no issues. Little signs of use. Partial trades are welcome! You can also find this ad on the german „Kleinanzeigen“ and „bassic“, where you find more feedback. Asking price is 1600 Euro.
  9. Excellent condition, all working, I don't need it now, did a few acoustic duo shows with it and a rehearsal or two, I have a digital desk now so this isn't getting used. They're £250ish new. Boxed with all the paperwork etc. Mixer is in Hope Valley (S33 6SB)
  10. And straight from Down Under, with his world wide number one: 'Your'e the Voice': John Fartham
  11. Phil Jones Compact 4 speaker cabinet What Phil Jones says about the cab: “The cabinet is constructed from Baltic Birch plywood. Rigid internal bracing keeps cabinet coloration to its lowest. The four 5 inch “Piranha” drivers are based on our Suitcase and 4B cabinet. They feature ferrite magnet structures for un-compromised dynamics, extended bass response and punch/attack. If your style is slap bass, this cabinet will show how good your slap tone is. It has much more: it produces effortlessly the true tone of any bass or player. You hear subtleties/nuances in your playing you never heard before and your sound becomes more inspiring to you, your band and your audience. The C4 cabinet may be small; yet it provides highest audio performance.” The condition is very good. I have only used it for bedroom practice in a smoke and pet-free environment. £300 £10 p&p
  12. Eich T300 Amp Preamp: solid state preamp with gain, taste, lo, lo-mid, hi-mid, hi, master control, switchable mute, DI pre/post, XLR transformer balanced DI out with Ground Lift Switch, parallel effects loop, tuner out, line out, line in. Output RMS: 300 w (4 ohms), 200 w (8 ohms). Power Amp: Class D. No fan! Power Consumption: 400 W. Output: Speakon® combo connectors with ¼“ jack. DI Out: transformer balanced, pre/post, ground lift switchable. Dimensions: (W x H x D) 27 cm x 4,5 cm x 21 cm / 10.7" x 1.6" x 8.3”. Weight: 1,27 kg / 2,8 lbs. The condition is very good. I have only used it for bedroom practice in a smoke and pet-free environment. £515 £5 p&p
  13. Selling this bass as I originally picked it up as a backup to my main touring 4 string, a white MM with all the same mods. They’re both great basses but I don’t have as much need for a direct duplicate as I used to and it’s too good to be sat around not being played. I had it re sprayed with this smokey black burst which maintains the look of the natural grain. It’s picked up some nicks and scuffs which I’ve pictured. I love the way it looks and sad to let it go. The neck has a beautiful flame to it and it and the fretboard are unblemished. Fitted with a John East MM preamp, hipshot drop tuner and schaller style strap locks, otherwise all original and in great condition. Will ship in UK for £30 or meet in London area. Open to offers and happy to answer any questions. Thanks! James

  14. Tom Drown with his greatest hit: Fu...king for Jamaica
  15. If I had a good excuse to have a second Tri12L I would; easily one of the best cabs, period.
  16. Barry Whine (we've done the other permutation already)
  17. Golden Age Project Comp 2A Vintage-style single channel tube compressor / limiter. Transformer balanced input and output. Gain and peak reduction controls. VU meter for displaying gain reduction and output volume Bypass switch. XLR line input and 6.3 mm jack. XLR line output and 6.3 mm jack. Link input for stereo operation with a second Comp-2A. The Golden Age Project Comp 2A does that LA2A thing, nicely thickens up, and makes any source sound big and better! I mainly used it to track vocals and bass, which it did a great job on, getting a more professional finished sound and requiring fewer plugins in the mix. My only reason for selling is because I am downsizing my music studio space. Condition is used but very well looked after. Bedroom studio use only in a smoke and pet-free environment. £415 £5 p&p

  20. You're forgiven. Whether asking for Wonderwall is....
  21. Black Bear Tewkesbury. Large venue, absolutely rammed. Previous sound complaint issues have meant an in-house FBT PA which you ‘plug in to’. Fine in concept, but it’s underpowered for the job it’s trying to do. Result = all the tricks in the book to get sufficient vocal volume over the top of the acoustic drums and the hundreds on people. Just about…phew. IEMs all round took away the feedback problem the support band had wrestled with. The real problem was the arse at 11:15. Pissed, arrogant and obviously thick. We are playing, and you are gesturing that you want to speak to the singer and then me. Mouthing back that we can’t hear you, (IEMs) and that you should just gently bugger off. And what did he want of a band who’d been playing classic rock all night? Wonderwall. I must confess, I told the door staff that he’d been aggressive- he was ejected. Please forgive me. 😘
  22. Ishibashi are excellent but having imported from Japan it almost works out at an extra 1/3 on top of the bass price.
