  1. Past hour
  2. Headphones would be Tier 2 at worst. I'll add you to the list on p2.
  3. I've got of these too. Neck dive for sure with any almost all T-Bird inspired shapes, but I moved the strap button to neck heel and it's about 75% better. I've also been tinkering with it, rewired pickups to single coil (lower neck coil and upper bridge coil) and it's much more J bass now.
  4. I don't think I signed up to this, but meant to. As it is, I'm still in. The last thing I bought and paid for was in November (HX Stomp XL). I refuse to upgrade anything until I've at least giged some of the cool stuff I have, though I am open to making a level 2 infraction if headphones (for production puproses) are permitted under level 2 rather than level 1.
  5. Cash for Honours Gaga
  6. P.S - as you can see ive fitted a bridge cover. The thumbrocker thumb rest will be removed before sale and will leave no trace as this is a drop in mod. Very sunny here so anything other than the aforementioned dent will sun sun glare. More pics to follow once ive cleared space
  7. I did, in fact several sets of Dunlop tapered sets were used on my Euro 5 LX and never had this issue. I had with other basses though, albeit with normal strings and the culprit was always the distance between the pickups (magnets) and the string, them being too close...
  8. Bump. Open to offers
  9. Nothing new there I'm afraid, Charlie Hunter has had that pickup and output set up on his guitars for as long as I've been listening to him, possibly the best part of 2 decades! Jeez I'm old! Back on the topic of the bass at hand, I really don't see anything special to it, whatsoever, but some folks are willing to pay lots for custom instruments, that others think is silly, it's just another example of marmite in the bass world...
  10. Airana Venti
  11. Fingers crossed for both the safe delivery and the preferred neck shape 🙂 Given your past with the necks haven't you thought about buying a run-of-the-mill used euro, shave the neck to your liking and refinish? (that's what I've done with the pink one)
  12. This is was my solution in the studio…
  13. I bought this as a B-Stock item from Guitar Village as i desperately wanted to have a P bass back in my arsenal. However, with slight arthritis in my hands i really do pick up my jazz bass for anything other than a bit of house noodling and as such i want to cash it in to fund a backup jazz I've seen. These are MIM but to vintage specs including slab rosewood fingerboard, alder body, reverse kluson type tuners and threaded saddle bridge. Even the tort guard has a slight celluloid look to it with indentations where the tugbar is a really nice depth to the tort. I've fitted tonerider pickups as i do to all my basses but the originals come with the bass. Ive also whacked on some GHS Precision Flats for the old-school tone. Pics including the dent near the forearm (reason it was B stock) to follow asap. I have since slightly filled the chip with black nail varnish which makes it much less noticeable. For me, my favourite precision colours are the 50's style burst/gold/maple and then this burst/tort/rosewood - just a classic look. Part ex wise/trade wise id consider something valvey - Ashdown Little Bastard/CTM30 or my ideal amp an EBS T90. Bass wise im pretty sorted but i am partial to MIJ fender basses. Sale muchly preferred. No case for this as i use a dual gig bag for my gigs so it would be collection from Bolton or could potentially arrange meets. Pics to follow asap
  14. Clutching at straws- ‘Just for the record’ has a great bass line too.
  15. Nothing Ever Happens - Del Amitri
  16. Price drop on the Hipshots... Now half the price of a new set.
  17. Sadly not I didn't expect this to sell quickly but I thought someone would've bitten by now for forty notes 🙈
  18. I do not regret selling my 1964 Hofner 500/1. It was far too toy like and just felt fragile under my large hands. Really fiddly to play too. Some thumpy sound though. Sold a Ric 4001 as I wasn't getting on with it. 3 months later, I bought a new 4003 as I couldn't live without that bridge tone. Struggled to get properly into it until I removed the daft bridge pickup cover. A set of JF344's later and I love it. What an angry, pis**d off sounding thing it is. Nearly sold my Precision the other day too, but had a change of heart at the 11th hour. I would absolutely regret letting it go, especially when I don't really need to move it along. I thoroughly regret selling an 1984 Ibanez RB850. It was given to me by my deceased friends wife to sell on after his death. I should have bought it from her. I know it's a much loved bass residing in Belgium now, so that fact brings me great comfort. I think Byron would have been happy with the resto work put into the bass by the present owner. G
  19. I shall make sure of selling a child first such that I can afford a model worthy of this august body of connoisseurs (and the rickenbacker owners)
  20. Both techniques for me.
  21. New one from Don Chandler, great video as always
  22. As it has been said a couple of times: Hire a sound wo/man to make a new template, and mix the next few gigs ("because we can concentrate on playing", "our sound needs some expertise"). After say, three gigs, the new sound should be the state of the art. If that g-word player wants to change it, you can ask how it will become better, because the pro fixed it already. I know there are people who do not understand mixers too well, and want to see the (distorted) lights flash. A cool extra is to get an hour from that sound wo/man that tells everybody, what should be done. I would love to participate. How to get the most out of the desk. (By the way: "This is my mixer" sounds so very childish.)
  23. Fulltone Deja Vibe MDV-2. Excellent clone of the old Univibe with expression pedal control of the modulation speed. Very good, fully working condition. Velcro on base. £190 including postage (ONO)
