  2. Some random Googling just now winkled out the existence of this model - a medium scale BB bass that by most accounts weighs 3.5kg. Seems they came in flat red, sparkle red, burst or black. A black one of these ticks every one of my boxes and addresses all the issues I have with BB basses. Has anyone owned one and formed opinions? Muchas gracias!
  3. I can also sell these items individually.
  4. Everyone's on their honour here. I may be the reason the gift rules got tightened up now that I think about it - a couple of years back Mrs. Neepheid treated me to a Reverend Triad. At the time the rule was more vague, merely stating that unsolicited gifts are exempt. Now this wasn't a pre-arranged thing, we were in Glasgow and I was doing what I always do when we're down there, have a browse of the guitar shops. I tried the Reverend, really liked it and popped it back down. But she asked me if I liked it, I said yes, so she said that she'd buy me it as a treat. This came as a complete surprise to me, there was no pre-discussion, I wasn't trawling the guitar shops looking for something for my wife to buy me. In the end, my circumstance was deemed to have not contravened the rules as they were written at that time as I had not asked my wife to buy the bass for me, she offered. Since then, this very scenario has been nixed with the addition of the text "Genuinely unsolicited presents, which you had no involvement in choosing." Regarding msb's situation, I don't know what (if any) discussions were had between the parties regarding this bass. My reading of the scenario as presented to us is that the third party saw something online that msb had written about having tried and failed to obtain a bass, then decided independently to do something about it ie. offer their bass to msb out of some feeling of sympathy and/or wanting to do a nice thing. I'm confident that msb didn't write the online material which triggered this offer of donation with the express purpose of coercing or convincing someone (in)to gift(ing) them a bass. "Involvement in choosing"? Seems like a stretch to me. Yes, the online text may have influenced the nature of the gift, but I don't believe it was an active involvement. I've written about "the one that got away" before. That doesn't mean I'm expecting a fairy godmother to appear with said bass or a copy of one, and I will argue until I'm blue in the face that I'd be exempt if such a thing ever happened. Ergo, I consider this approach to be influenced, but not directly by msb, as there was no intent, and therefore is unsolicited. Defence rests.

  6. He looked really bad at ST Albans on the 11th, must have been in a lot of pain. I didn't realize he also had a cancerous lymph node last year. So I don't think it's just his bad knees and tinnitus creating his health concerns. Such a nice guy. Saw him perform in Guildford some years back, with From The Jam. My favorite bassist.
  7. I don't know if he claims outright to have written music, but he's performed other people's work without properly attributing AND what's really bad is he's even monetised tab transcriptions of their music and charged for it. It's worth watching Sapko's video as he explains it pretty well. I honestly don't think most of his followers know or care about guitar playing as such, he's a very attractive young man who looks great on camera and makes superb content that's watched by the general public.
  8. Thanks for getting back to me. I’m looking at a couple of others but I may be in touch.
  9. wait he claims to write music that he's shared as his and has done this without any knowledge of music theory at all, and his fans believe this? I mean i have only heard small snippets but i am not sure i'd find that claim in itself credible. He seems like a very unsavoury character, and the way the worlds going with social media and music, he wont be the last. Jonny

  11. @molan I'm at the point now where I'm looking to move this on, and so trying to get some more info as to it's origins before posting. I tried getting some more information a few years ago, but the trail went a bit cold. If there's anyone out there who could help, it would be much appreciated.......🤓👍
  12. Oh my goodness - the worst bass amp I ever played through was one of these, up for sale on Facebook Marketplace https://www.facebook.com/commerce/listing/1380928936250759/?ref=share_attachment
  13. I don't know. I find it very easy to take a bassline or riff and vary it - it's usually just a case of working out what scale or mode it's based around and change the order or rhythm. I find it very natural, in fact, it's fun to learn a bassine verbatim then re-work it somehow (moving it from 4 to 5 string usually helps to shake things up). But... the way Giaccomo plays EXACTLY the same tempo, key, note-for-note is weird. When someone does that for a well-known song they're showing off thier ability to mimic and their technical virtuosity, but if it's an unknown piece why would anyone not put in some of their own signature, their own style - voicings they enjoy that kind of thing? No. I honestly think he's devoid of any curiosity (he's said he doesn't practise scales or know any theory) and isn't interested in what's behind a piece of music. It COULD be lazy/stupid but I still think it's as much down to just not having any kind of musical creativity and imagination.
  14. The Kick Inside(r) - Kate Bush
  15. It took me ages to find one, the only ones I’ve seen were for sale abroad for £2k+
  16. I Am A Cider Drinker - The Wurzels
  17. Knights of Cydonia - Muse
  18. If it’s the rules then fair enough. I think there is an argument on the unsolicited front as it sounds like it was prompted but I hope the accused enjoys his NBD!

  20. How would you define tonal aggressiveness? I ask because I used to have an L2000 and it was the most aggressive sounding bass I ever owned to date.
  21. I was also wondering about this. How is talking about modifying a brand new bass effective marketing? Made little if any sense to me. I've never been more grateful for the 2nd hand market. Fender are charging quite a lot of money for that passive tone circuit.
  22. Speaking of Ashton-under-Lyne, these guys have a Tribute M-2000 in stock. The shop is legit and has sold one of my basses in the past. Smooth transaction, they even sent me some good packing material. The M-2000 is a more traditional model as it has a 3 band EQ and the MFD pickups are a bit underwound (but apparently still hot). Maybe something to look into too? https://www.sellusyourguitar.co.uk/product-page/g-l-tribute-m-2000-gloss-black-electric-bass-1
  23. We're fairly busy up until the end of May and then it goes quiet until August for some reason. We've been actively promoting to pull gigs in for June/July but not much headway as yet.
