  2. Just finished having a quick razz on it. Good old MFD oomph! Then to a little bit of finessing - removed the pickguard film, had to tighten up the jack socket, redid the intonation and finally replaced the nasty, cheap dome top knobs with some nice solid flat tops. New flat tops with one of the original dome tops in the middle for scale. Bonus is that the set screw of the flat tops acts as a position indicator.
  3. So, Ampeg listed for sale which means I'm probably going to keep this, if you want it make me an offer ASAP or it's going back to the studio 👍
  4. Needs no introduction, lovely lovely lovel all tube head, it's had little use other than around 6-weeks of rehearsals and one gig during which it got me out of a few tight corners following a back injury earlier this year, when paired with the glorious and equally easy to carry Mesa 1x12 in the photo (now sold). I have all original packaging etc. No trades thanks as I've found a Mesa unit that I'm replacing this with. Current RRP a rather sobering £1075 here https://www.yamahamusiclondon.com/product.php?product_id=GPF50TUK&source=froogle&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD8vqVrGdZdu_2PWdO4efJ-EmqAg2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5L6jhbL7jAMVQZxQBh2-IgcrEAQYByABEgLB6fD_BwE Courier/collection/meet-up are all options 👍

  7. My really nice Fretless Bass with a Slab Rosewood lined fingerboard, plays like the proverbial dream and sounds great with oodles of mwoarrrrr. In excellent condition with just a few light play marks. Set up really nicely with a low action all the way up the neck, & a lovely rich ‘woody’ sound. Nice and light at 3.6kg, or a tad under 8lbs in ‘old money’ via my digital scales. The lines thankfully extend over the sides of the fingerboard making intonation a doddle, even for an old duffer like me. Please see my fretted Yamaha Bass for a more true colour as the Fretless was shot in bright sunshine and in reality, it is more of an Ash colour. In excellent condition, with just a few play wear marks, but nothing serious. Specs……. Alder Body Maple Neck Slab Rosewood lined Fretless fingerboard Yamaha Soap Bar neck & bridge pickups with individual volume and Master tone control. La Bella Flats - if memory serves. 38mm neck width, so very Jazz - esque + nice and shallow. Fender lightly padded Gig bag included. Any questions, please give me a shout. Can post to the U.K. Mainland via Parcelforce 24 delivery, or collection welcome & knock £25 off the price. Sorty about the ‘orange - ish’ pics, the sun came out. I’ll try and do some better ones in the morning. The colour is nearer to that of the fretted Yammy Bass I also have listed.
  8. Yep, this is not an audio issue it's a political one, far more tricky, and as I said earlier, I think it's one you just have to live with, not least because as I've found too many times, the mix/engineering I often hate at a gig other people love and vice versa. Good luck either way mate, but if you have in-ears and the sound isn't your responsibility, I'd just set up a decent mix for yourself and leave it there, or you risk winning the battle but losing the war 👍
  9. An absolute workhorse of a Bass which would not only make a great inexpensive back up bass, but it is such an excellent sounding & playable instrument, I would be happy to use it in any situation having a really nice set up with a low action, level frets & weighing just 3.6Kg, or just a tad under 8lbs in ‘old money’ according to digital scales. Specs…. Passive Alder Body Maple Neck Rosewood Slab Fingerboard 38mm neck width, so very Jazz - esque + shallow depth. Jazz style powerful pickups Bridge Volume, Neck Volume with Master tone controls 24 Fret Double octave fretboard 34” Scale length Ti Flats fitted which have had very little use Stagg lightly padded Gig Bag included. There are a few play wear marks, but overall it is in very good condition - please see pics. Can post to the U.K. Mainland via Parcelforce 24, or collection welcomed & knock £25 off the total price. Any questions, please give me a shout.

  10. I’m using an iPad so no CTRL F5, but thanks for the idea. I’ll check if I’m blocking cookies but I don’t think so.
  11. The only thing here is democracy/majority. If you got in an independent sound engineer and most of you went a different way than the guitarist then majority wins. Then write down the settings and have the mixer on the opposite side of the stage to him, and reset them immediately before each set - because he will change them when you aren’t paying attention.

  18. This is the issue. He's really competent at mixing and the sound we have is the sound he wants. The problem is that it's not really the right sound for indie pop at a wedding. If we were a metal band it would be pretty good. It all comes down to his personal preference. Getting a pro engineer in to mix would probably be a bit pointless because he wouldn't like the mix they came up with.
