Yeah, it's an odd one. I'd mentioned this on another thread somewhere that after borrowing yours I was so impressed that I picked one up for myself. I'd dialled yours in for that on the edge of breakup sound and it was exactly what I was looking for. However, the one I bought wouldn't go as low gain even with the gain/drive control backed right off, I couldn't get it clean enough so I ended up moving it on. I recently managed to grab an immaculate mk2 off the forum recently and for my tastes it does exactly what I'm looking for, it adds a real pleasing fattnes to the bass in the mix with the band, not an obviously overdriven sound, just bigger and juicer 💦. Think a B15 kinda vibe. Some people have complained about the lack of high end but to me that's part of its appeal and what helps it slot into the mix where I want the bass to be, sitting under the other instruments and supporting them, not clanking over the top of them like modern drives do.

Just bought a GR Bass amp from Gareth, he was very honest and upfront about condition, and the transaction was smooth (courier incompetence notwithstanding 😅). It arrived unbelievably well packaged, and sounds super! Very nice chap too, wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. 😊👍

Hi I have my brothers finger bone fretless. It’s a beautiful bass. my brother died in January in a car accident.

I think you may have my old MkV @tayste_2000 think I recognise the serial no. What @Osirissaid about the gain might be something you notice that it goes to a lower of setting than some later versions or it’s just got a quirk in it.

Hey Folks , I have just bought this Amp and am expecting delivery next week, Am i right in saying that I can run this through the headphones or as computer interface with no speaker plugged in (without causing any damage) as I have yet to buy a cab. Most of my playing is through headphones at home but will be planning on jamming with friends soon, so will eventually get a cab. Thanks

New board, still a work in prgress and may need a little rearranging. Trying out the DemonFX Alpha Omicron, it sounds really good.

Good gig. The place was empty when we were setting up, however by 5:30 we had more than a respectable size crowd. I was happy with my playing tonight. Tomorrow night we're back at The Harley Motor. Daryl

No offense to SH who seems like a really nice guy, but I made up my mind some time ago that both the band and Fish brought out the best in each other… musically at least. The incredible song arrangements inspired Fish to write some of his best lyrics. And because the lyrics (and stories) were so good it made the arrangements sound even better. Neither have been as good in my opinion since parting ways, even though I still like and appreciate their talents separate of each other.

First night-time gig since before the New Year. We did a Sunday afternoon gig two weeks ago in a place that is usually a rock/blues venue (Girdwoods for the Scottish cental belt BCr's) but are trying different things on a Sunday. It was a great response from the punters and we have been re-booked for a date in December. About to unleash Americana/Country upon a social club formally attached to the Fairfields shipyard in Govan, Glasgow. I played this venue every few months, on rotation back in the 80's , when things were economically a lot different. A brilliant place back then and I'm hoping the sons and daughters (and maybe some of the Auld Yins [old ones])from back in the day might show up! There is a HUGE age variation in the band so I'll leave it up to the viewer to figure out the old and the young! (BTW for the ocularly challenged the last two on the left with a 38 year difference!).

I've been working towards somewhat of a 'vision' I've had for a while, and have finally got there! Let's get a couple of things out of the way first: 1) Yes, I know it's probably unnecessary. 2) This is my cellar/music room, a tatty time capsule to the late 80's/early 90's, and is a way down the renovation list. 3) Yes, I may be having a mid life crisis of sorts. I also bought a Red Arrows leather jacket the other day. I've had my GR Bass 4x10" for a couple of years now, and love it deeply. It's by far the best single cab I've had in the past almost 30 years, amongst some great cabs. I'd been getting to think I might like a GR Bass Amp too... At the same time, I was thinking it would be cool to be able to run more cabs, but the GR410+ is 4 ohm... naturally then, the One 1400 caught my eye! I decided that a new one was more than I could run to, and there didn't seem to be used ones around, but then last week I spotted @franzbassist selling one! After some discussion it was a done deal, and it arrived today! (Unbelievably well packaged I might add, I'm not sure if Gareth was trying to protect the amp or save himself a tip run 🤣). I've only had a brief play around with it this evening, but so far I'm loving it! It's clean and clear, but not clinical. Natural sounding, with a very flexible EQ section, yet still simple to use. Lots of oomph, but also great definition and dynamics. Very pleased! In addition, I've had a penchant for 15's again in the last few years, and have been experimenting with a couple I picked up pretty cheap (one from the fantastic @vmaxblues). They were great, but I was fixated on a specific form factor, and wanted two cabs the same. So in the past few weeks I've picked up a pair of Markbass NY151's. So I now have 3 rig options: One 1400 with the GR410+, this will be my main rig: The pair of NY151's, pictured here with my backup amp, a LMII: And then we have the behemoth.... The 1400w, 4x10" + 2x15" monster! This should do well for the outdoor shows in the summer! 😎👌 Sounds absolutely phenomenal! Not just ridiculously loud and gutsy, but REALLY good sounding! I did wonder if something sounded a bit funny for a moment, but then I realised it was just the house disintegrating 🤣🤣🤣. I often find at outdoor gigs (using only our PA - mainly only for vocals), the bass gets a bit lost, whereas the 100w valve half stacks/stacks seem to project well across a field no problem. I'm hoping this will help balanced things up a bit. 😉 Sorry for the long post, but I've been working towards this for some time, and I'm over the moon that I've got there in the end! Oli

Is there a Toneprint suitable or close enough to the bass in Ain't Nobody? I think it was done on keyboard, so not expecting there'll be an exact match. Ta!
