I can do that. I call it free-form jazz. Some day I must get along to a jam night. So far, all my experience in this general arena has been folk clubs (one must perform either a Folk Song written by someone else, or a song which one has written oneself about ghosts or 18th-19th century warfare or pagan symbolism, and must be listened to in absolute silence) and open mic nights (one may perform whatever the f*ck one likes, sometimes others will leap up and join in, meantime everyone is talking to each other at maximum volume). Got back from one open mic night three hours ago, finished up playing bass behind a 14 year old girl doing Sweet Child o'Mine even better than our guitarist/singer. Tomorrow, or rather tonight, I'll be at a different open mic, possibly having to listen to a guitarist who owns a bass playing the wrong notes off time - it depends on how many people ask me to play bass.

Go and try, that's a big bonus. Make sure you play it standing up with a strap if that's how you'd ever gig it, this is where some folks get issues. The geometry of strap button position, strap hang etc puts some people off. It's not like a Tbird. Those strings are gimmicky rubbish. I bought some sets years ago, they last about 2 gigs. Anyway, that's neither here nor there. That looks like a peach and worth investigating.

They have stated they are firm with 1.6k so I think I will ask to give it a try as they are also collection only and not too far away. Tonepump pre in both so at the very least I can get a play and see if I can warm to it Yeah black crown inlays with DR black beauty strings on it id wager.

That's a white neck-thru Euro 4 LX, maple board, black blocks, black hardware? There's people on this forum that would sell someone else's granny for that. You'll see a unicorn Euro with a maple board next week 😉 but that one is right up my strasse. What are the black inlays? I'd make an offer but it's not really overpriced at £1.6k.

I came across this problem when fixing my DHA pedal - my solution was to have some solid core wire (about the same diameter as a 24 or 26 AWG multi-strand) and to strip abut 30 cm of the insulation off it. Next I heat the solder pad using a temperature controlled iron and feed the solid core through the hole in the PCB - as it travels through the hole it will pick up any errant nasties or stray wires that remain. Once the solid wire is through you should have a nice clean hole, then I used my wire cutters to chop the 'spent wire' off, leaving the rest of the reel ready for the next use. You may have to do this a couple of times, but I find that it works well in tight spaces where you can only realistically desolder the solder side of the board due to the component side being too full. Hope this helps.

Flats are the reason I got into pbasses. It’s such an incredible sound and a joy to play. That said I am using it on neo soul and fusion music. If I was playing more heavy rock, I’d go rounds too. But I just love the flats so much.

Appreciate that input @Sean It has a rather interesting neck - dont seem to see many about with a maple fretboard.

Yes, the original was an NPN, that’s what’s in the schematic I posted no? Cheers Si

Shouldn't it be an npn transistor in tat configuration. Is this basically a treble booster?

I ordered some stuff, I asked in the special instructions that the pen and sticker wasn't included, so that I didn't get any stick at home, and it happened. Can't argue with that.

What a charlatan ! He forced me to buy a five string and so break my duck in the abstinence thread, made me accept next day delivery, sent packaging photos that were frankly indecent in the sheer quantity of bubble wrap on display AND I had to put up with polite PMs as well! 😱 Shocking experience … ** some verbs above may have been altered from strict reality for dramatic effect

I had some comms with the vendor. Looks like you got the deal around where I told him he should expect. Great buy, that one.

Spector Legend 5 3-Band 35" scale Bass Guitar, Offers?

I've read that post 3 times, Chris. My answer might be a bit skewed. When Leo was designing what would become the Stingray, he had a P pickup pushed back toward the bridge. Logically it would be more 'Ray-like. The placement of the Spector reverse P is somewhere in the ground between a 'Ray and a classic P placement. To my mind, moving it forward toward the neck (if that's what you're talking about) would make it more like those basses that have what I call "true" neck pickups (as opposed to middle and bridge pups), like the Yamaha Attitude or Gibson-style basses. More bass frequencies, less treble.
