  1. Past hour
  2. There have been many times in my life, including now, when the bass I’m carrying is worth more than the car it is in…having said that, can I charge more for dings, which are asynchronous unintended organic tone divots?
  3. Sterling StingRay Shortscale A great little short scale bass for the money, plays and sounds fantastic - really captures that StingRay growl using a passive pickup. It is all original except the machine-heads which I replaced with Hipshots. The reason being I found it a wee bit headstock heavy. The eagle eyed will spot that one is a USA version and this is because the Hipshot licensed tuners I had in my spares box are none reversible. The bass weighs an astonishing 3.1kgs so great for those with bad backs or shoulders. I don’t think there were many imported in this black and maple finish and it certainly has that classic StingRay look. I had a single ply black scratchplate on it for a time however it is supplied with the original faux tortoiseshell. Nice low action, fresh D’Addario 45-100 nicklewound strings. No gigbag but I have a Sterling box should you require it posting. Selling because I have been buying far too much! Postage UK only at buyer’s cost. I can knock off a few ££ if you want me to put the original tuners back on.
  4. Tort anything ought to be considered a war crime so if I'm ever appointed as the head of the ICC that will get a lot of people in a lot of trouble. 10 years in the dilithium mines at least!
  5. I was tempted to go back and edit the post so that @King Tut, @Geek99 and @Franticsmurf all have "most excellent" 5 string basses, but that would confuse future generations reading this thread.
  6. Problems are: It’s very “modern” to have a huge cannon sounding kick drum. Guitarists (it seems most at least) just can’t handle singers getting all the attention, hating their “number 2” role. Getting past both is going to be difficult.
  7. Very fair question. I used the word uncoloured quite casually. I know what my P/J sounds like DI into good desk and back through studio monitors or good phones, so for me that's the reference. I also know how it sounds into my PJB Briefcase at low levels (the only levels you get with a Briefcase!) and I reckon that is very close to the actual bass's sound. But I accept that all amps are somewhat coloured, cabs are too. But I think some have a pronouned 'sound' and you either want that sound or not. I think I'll know it when I hear it, and it'll likely be one of those amps that a majority think of as 'neutral', quite clean maybe... pick a word!!
  8. Great pic Tim, what strap are you using, looks like a good one to support a weighty bass.
  9. Sorry mate, if it's still going on after you've discussed it 'a whole load of time' then you've not had the grown up conversation. Given what's you've said, especially that it keeps happening but you don't want to walk, i think it's as Steve suggested above, tolerate it gracefully 👍
  10. Lego will have a shock when they put it into production, only to find out that all the votes came from poor musicians who are saving up for the real thing, or were bassists, or are waiting for Behringer to create a homage to the original instrument.
  11. If you're all on IEMs... Why wouldn't he want you to sound the best you can? He can sound like whatever he wants through his monitors... Ego or idiot?
  12. Many thanks, I love it I just wish it was Stereo
  13. Great pedal and totally agree re blending. Never sure why that was not a feature of the pedal….
  14. I don't know if this link will work ok, but here's the best quote I found (£34.80 with Evri) https://uk.interparcel.com/quote/select-service or here, which includes Parcelforce for £55 if you prefer; https://www.parcel2go.com/quotes?col=219&dest=219&mdd=0&p=1~10|180|100|10&quoteType=Default By all means see of you can find something better. I went with 10kg, 180x100x15cm The only issue is that's it's covered for only £20. I can add more protection to the Parcelforce quote, but I need to add you address to continue. Also, can I have your address to add to the order, please.
  15. Hi Guys Since I got some decent pitch shifting presets on my HX Stomp the EH Pitchfork has become redundant. in good condition, has original box and power supply. Will post at buyers expense. I will take PayPal f & f or standard if the buyer pays the fees
  16. I feel seen by the artwork on this one 🤣 looks incredible!
  17. Good call Paddy, i have a pair of super midgets and use an eich t 900 or little mark 3......boosting the lows uses up valuable headroom.
  18. I had similar problems with the Boss Waza Air, I can't remember exactly what now but it wasn't just automatic if the phone had connected to other devices in the meantime. My Sony headphones almost do the opposite, they automatically turn themselves on - I start a Teams call using my Laptop speakers and it somehow turns on the headphones that are on standby (and not on my head), my JBL bluetooth speakers have their own idiosyncrasies when connecting two of them, my car bluetooth does some very annoying auto play things and seems random about which phone it decids to connect to. So as long as the Bluetooth actually works I give these things a bit of a free pass as it just seems the way it is with Blutooth to have slightly odd ways of connecting to different devices. These Positive Grid headphones are now on my shopping list, seem to be sold out everywhere though.
  19. Make me an offer as I need it gone! Can also ship now
  20. Time for a bit of a clear out. This is a mono dual gig bag, great case but I’m not using it at the moment. I would describe it as ‘tired but functional’. This has seen a lot of gigs hence the low price. All zips work as they should. Please note one of the ‘tick’ attachments is broken but could probably be sewn back on if you have the skills! pickup preferred from Chessington or central London. Could potentially bag up and post too. Some photos of condition but for any specifics, do ask.
  21. I can hit the shop websites for pictures, but this is where the stories belong. I think it's more interesting to hear the process behind the purchase. And I can always use some of the arguments for making the purchase in future decision making of my own. 😀
  22. We wants it, Precious, but we can't affords it. We wants it so badly!
  23. Excellent response @Hellzero - I think you have listed almost all the heads I was considering. The Vanderkleys are hard to find and serious money here in UK, tbh I was thinking up to a grand (£ of course) and I think the Vanderkleys are well above that and used ones are rare as... If they are as good as the cabs they will be supergood (love the 210s a lot!). I think I'm going to try a GROne; Agi AG 700 and an Eich 900 - for a start. Thanks for input👍
  24. It’s been rigged. Note that I’m not suggesting some kind of armed insurrection at Chateau RichardR, though obviously an m16 could be quite handy. So definitely don’t go there. I’m not suggesting it. Honestly. Don’t like, form a wild baying mob bent on vengeance or anything like that.
  25. What we used to refer to as "the early dart" - always a favourite.
