I spent an enjoyable couple of years in "Wishblowin' Ash", and we worked the North-East regularly. Bit of a niche Band, but the people who were into the original Band seemed to rather enjoy themselves at our Gigs.

A bit more on the Positive Grid one, seeing as I've just got one. So far (and this could be user error), it's completely and utterly useless. When I got it, I downloaded the Spark app onto my Android phone (Google Pixel 8 Pro) and initially paired the Neo. The Spark app recommended a firmware update, which I did via Windows (note: you can only do firmware upgrades with Windows or Mac) which was successful. I then tried to pair the Neo with a second Android device, a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+, which was unsuccessful. I tried with another Android device, a Nokia T20, again unsuccessfully. I tried these pairings both with the Bluetooth on the phone turned on and turned off, which made no difference. Following Positive Grid's suggestion on their website, I went into settings on the phone and forgot the Neo Audio from the paired devices. I tried again on each of the tablets, also unsuccessfully, and was also unable to re-pair from the phone as it gives an error "incorrect PIN or passkey". I've tried doing the pairing both from within the Spark app and from the Android Bluetooth settings. So now, with no ability to connect via Bluetooth, it is completely useless to me. I've put in a support request to Positive Grid.

I was on the same bill as a Mott The Hoople tribute a few years ago. They had a right strop when they found out they were support, and in the end we let them headline. Sadly for them everyone was there to see us, a Joy Division tribute, and the audience promptly scarpered as soon as we finished. To their credit, they proceeded to play for what seemed an eternity until the sound engineer finally pulled the plug on them ... which was before they'd even got to the Bowie penned track that the original band is remembered for.

Late to the party Stew! Ive recently sold my Mastatron to raise funds for a new amp. My plan was to get another, but they are few and far between, and not much less than new). As i literally use it for a couple of songs (which my wonderful new prunes n custard clone could probably cover) ive been looking for a cheaper alternative. The Dope Fx boba fuzz is a wooly mammoth clone and doesnt like actives of pedal buffers, so this sounds ideal, if you could get some clips it would be appreciated.

Separate preamp/power amp question. I want more volume...
agedhorse replied to Yorkshire Bottom End's topic in Amps and Cabs
Maximum output level depends on the capability of the output stage, it has to have enough voltage swing capability to reproduce whatever input level x gain requires for undistorted or unclipped output. - Yesterday

(Voltage) Gain is output level divided by input level. Maximum output level it the voltage that an output can deliver without clipping. You can have high gain but all it does is clip because there’s not enough output level to reproduce the unclipped signal, that’s the basis for distortion pedals. The two parameters are relatively unrelated, you can look this up on a good engineering website. -

Higgie started following Behringer Mutron III clone (B-Tron III)

If it's anything like my my old original Musitronics Mutron III it inverts the phase, so a clean blend can actually make things worse, unless you have something like the Xotic X-Blender that has a polarity switch to flip it back again!

The eagle-eyed among you may have spotted that there's no 4+1 set available from Retrovibe. I imagine that you if you asked David nicely, he'd sort you out - but I didn't, because I wanted to test a theory. While looking for affordable lightweight tuners, I also came across these: Allparts TK-7567-010 There's not a lot of information provided - in particular the expected headstock hole size - but they looked quite similar to the Retrovibe ones. So I took a punt on a single left-handed one. And sure enough: I'm would imagine these are the same model too: https://shoppartsland.com/kg700-r4-cr-p127/ Anyway - Retrovibe is still the best place to go for these, and they came with screws that felt less flimsy than the Allparts ones. Just wanted to share this extra info to help anyone fruitlessly googling the dimensions of the Allparts ones in the future 😄

I agree with @neepheid if I can bow out after years of success as “bang to rights” so can you. The ring of the cash register or the resounding thump of a “funds requested” email from PayPal in your guilty-as-trump inbox is the grim reaper of your hopes of staying off the naughty list, mister nb: I would have tried “I’ve always wanted a five string”, “I’ve never owned a sire”, “it’s my first red bass” and “I did also sell one beforehand for more £ so it’s really net-zero gain and thus technical abstinence” if I thought the jury would go for any of those. I thought it unlikely somehow
