I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. Don't hesitate to ask for more, but, please, before asking read my ad first as the answer is certainly already in it!

It was recommended to me by a guitarist. Once read I’ll add it to the recycling pile here.

Another trick with fretless is to use opened (sorry, but it's a past participle) strings to check your intonation while playing. Use your ears to play, not your eyes and you'll improve very quickly. I really started playing on a fretless bass something like 40 years ago (wow, I'm that old 😳 now) and I now suck on fretted bass as I tend to make it sound like a fretless... 🤦🏻 You can also add a tiny bit of reverb on your tone, it's great with fretless. Welcome to the family!

Good book! I’ve read mine a couple of times. You don’t have to know him or his music to get things from it. In fact, I bought a second copy and gave it to the guitarist I mentioned in my previous post.

That does look a cracker. Having had one of the newer 4003S models, albeit an all maple one, I can attest to sound and playability. The only reason I moved mine on was the the weight, I should’ve bought a walnut one at the time, which are much lighter, but I was lured by the Fireglo. I don’t think that @Pow_22 would be disappointed with a newer one.

Compact budget PA set-up to put bass through (without back-line).
Phil Starr replied to Al Krow's topic in PA set up and use
I don't think you'll have any problems at all, especially if you are operating in dual mono rather than stereo. Certainly nothing is going to happen that will stop you entertaining your audiences. In the past when I had no money we mixed all sorts of amps and speakers using whatever we could get. I won't pretend it was ideal but these are two great speakers which are essentially flat response so sonically I don't think anyone in the audience will notice. I did wonder about suggesting you buy the 932A. I think they'd be my first choice for our PA if I was buying today, my 745's are just so damn big, over the top in many venues. I recently acquired a single ART905 mkIII sub at a knockdown price and will be looking out for another, It's a great way to update and not spend too much if you have a plan and a bit of patience. Buying used when the opportunity arises means you usually get your money back when the time comes to take the next step up and sell of your old kit. Good move -
Hi MNY, if you have a look at the Vintage fenders thread, I think it’s about page 146 onwards there’s some great suggestions, tort chat 😁

Sorry to hear you’re having some health battles. Perhaps take the pressure off yourself and give yourself a specific length of time ‘off’. Put everything away for a month and tell yourself you’re not going to touch it but after the set time you’re going to crack on. In the meantime, consume as much music and bass related stuff as possible. I find watching old live gigs of bands and artists I love on YouTube makes me itch to pick up the instrument. You might find that the idea of not being able to play it combined with lots of inspiration to be a good reset.

That’s a lovely looking thing for sure but I’m totally with @WHUFC BASS I’d pick up one of the latest models. I’ve got a 77 4001 and and a 2016 4003 and apart from the mojo’d looks there’s no real reason I’d take the 77 out over the 2016. The vintage switch on the later models make them pretty versatile as well. I’m proper tempted by the walnut one on here tbh but must stay strong!

According to Russell at FTJ in Tunbridge Wells last night Bruce has decided not to give up and will play on a bit longer. I was surprised that Bruce did not tell us. But then Bruce only played half the gig and didn’t smile through the whole performance.

Yes, my 1980s Squier JV Jazz, which is a similar vintage to the OP's Fender, and a copy of a 60s bass, is wired the same. I reckon Leo figured it wouldn't matter with the giant ashtray over the top hiding it. EDIT - mine is the same size and look as Clarky's original example, not as wide and shiny as the OPs.
