You could have warned us that was a Rob Chapman video. I and many others thoroughly detest the man, and I resent giving one of his videos even the briefest of engagement.

jrixn1 started following Sire P7 fretless - £360
-
Sire P7 Alder 4-string fretless PJ Bought new by me in January 2025, but has remained unplayed due to zero free time. It's a 2nd generation model, so it has the very nice rolled ebony fingerboard and redesigned pickups. N.B. anything in the photos which looks like marks, it's just reflections as the bass is quite glossy. Nut width: 38 mm Scale: 34" Fingerboard radius: 9.5" Controls: - volume/tone (dual pot) - pickup blend - treble - mids/mids frequency (dual pot) - bass - switch: active/passive £360 posted within UK.

It's cheaper than a service.

If you can write tab then you can use an app that will then generate the notes on the stave for you. It will then also flag if anything written is incorrect for the key and time signature. It's not difficult anymore. And there are now at least a dozen AI based transcribing apps - they actually transcribe from the audio. I suppose it was just the natural evolution of spoken language computer dictation.

Doesn't take any musical knowledge to write up tab you just have to know where your fingers went on the fretboard. I doubt he was notating it as a musical score but I'm just guessing. Having said that I get really confused writing out tab but then I'm a dufus. I'd forgotten that he'd actually released someone's tune on spotify as his own. I don't know how it works though if you are covering someone else's music and correctly attribute it. I've never put anything on spotify. Er. Well. It could have been. I guess. If so that'd be even more impressive than if they acutally played it! Good grief - imagine having to learn it so well you can mime every note on the fretboard but you're not actually playing it. With a live drummer!

mikebass456 started following Acoustic bass (Ibanez)

Some great advice - I had a Takamine acoustic bass a few years ago, but didn't get on with it very well, mainly the size of it, and constant struggling with feedback. I've since bought the Martin shortscale acoustic, and it's a working well for me. As I plug in, I've had to buy the feedback buster for the sound hole, which has cured the issue I had with feedback (along with setting on my Ashdown acoustic pre-amp). I've currently got coated strings on it, but looking to change soon, so will look out for some nylon coated flat wounds to see if they give me more of the sound I'm looking for........

Nice story, but this is where it falls down in my head. The online mentioning that triggered the gift was the desired model. I’d say that has an element of choice, similar to you picking a guitar up in store. As above, no prompt as to receiving a gift but a prompt online as to what you wanted even if not directed at your friend. There’s still room for interpretation in the rules that allow it to be judged on a case by case basis. The jury has spoken on this one!

Yeah - I've got an old Digitech iStomp. It's currently set to nice boost pedal and I have no plans to change it - but I have no idea if the iOS app still works for it. -

Why does Scott Devine hate Sadowsky basses?
ebozzz replied to TheGhostofJaco's topic in Bass Guitars
i live in the Rocky Mountain region and i know Texas very well. I respectfully disagree…. -
Now , if I had been able to buy the original DanArmstrong for the asking price I would have done so in a minute. It was going for a song. I was not really willing to pay the market price for one. They do fetch a top dollar these days. Several years ago I was tempted to order a Chinese copy but never did. My friend used to do a gear blog , and was always buying and selling gear. He reviewed much of what came in. His offer to send a bass was completely unexpected. He lives in LA , I live in Halifax.

I played in a Jam tribute for a bit (mates, they needed a dep) and as i learned all the songs, I realised how much of an influence he was. He plays some really melodic stuff and his fills are great and his energy too Have a great retirement Bruce

Well the pedalboard is still being configured, but here's the anti-gas bass 😁
