Tube power stage vs Class-D (effective power)
Paddy Morris replied to Paddy Morris's topic in Amps and Cabs
Ah. Ok. That does make sense. Thanks Bill. But so in that case if you drive the valve front-end of a hybrid amp quite hard, and get all that soft clipping and compression, is the class-D power stage ok? Why would you need a valve power stage too? -

Tube power stage vs Class-D (effective power)
Bill Fitzmaurice replied to Paddy Morris's topic in Amps and Cabs
The reason is compression. The natural compression of valves reduces the level of transient peaks that cause high level distortion when the amp is at or near full power. It can be approximated with SS using a compressor. It can be very closely approximated with SS using a compressor plus DSP emulation. -
Cheers Ped will take a look at the Eich

Agreed. I haven't actually played any paulownia wood basses - there's no one near me that stocks Sandberg - but I wonder if they would be much different than tempered pine. And one of my concerns that I've talked to Mark about re: more aggressively chambering is, in fact, neck dive. As an aside, I played my Lakland 55-94 the other day (sitting down) - and it almost made me cry how great that bass is - but just not gig-able for me anymore!

Thanks Matt. Good to know. But I wonder what the reason is, if it isn't actually the electrical power in watts. - Today

You missed my point spectacularly. I saw typical businesses for 10 years. Good and bad. I'm not remotely jaded. I'm passing on conclusions based on around 3000 businesses against your 1. I'm not criticising here. By the way, talking of stereotyping (as I wasn't), a tax inspector gets difficult only when evidence (actual evidence) deems it necessary. It's a bit like people complaining about being done for speeding, somehow forgetting they were speeding. Anyway it's a nice day so what the hell.

Hey everyone, Just wondering if anybody on here has done something similar or may have some wisdom to share? Whilst recently cleaning 7+ years of dirt of the neck with a slightly damp microfiber cloth (very silly, I now know!) I ended up taking off some of the lacquer finish on about 1/3 of the neck. I've re-coated it with Birchwood Casey tru-oil and gunstock wax (as per Musicman recommendation), so the neck seems protected and feels the nicest I have ever had it! However, I'd really like to restore the finish back to it's former glory! I'm just not sure how best to proceed with this job, as information about how these necks were finished seems to be fairly hard to find on the internet. If you need more info please just ask, I'd be happy to have a chat about it Thanks!!

Hello, I'm selling this MXR Bass Compressor. It's in almost new condition, with the original box. I'm sure everyone knows what to expect with these now - a nice and natural sounding comp, that's easy to use, with great visual metering too. I'm asking £115, which includes next day delivery. Any questions, shoot me a message. Thanks.

If all you ever see are the negative examples of business behaviour, then no wonder you’re so jaded with it all. Thats fine. We need regulators to keep things in check. But not all businesses - and business people - are bad. Neither are we criminals, tax dodgers or rule breakers. If we’re doing stereotypes, there are enough of those about tax people, but we won’t go there. Workers do generate wealth, that’s completely true - but this situation only occurs because someone has create a vehicle, with the inherent risks associated with it, to enable them to do so. We don’t need to invoke the spirit of Marx to explain why they shouldn’t capture *all* this wealth, but the rewards should reflect the risks (as they do in all walks of life). Oh, and I’m writing this while taking a break from building a new business website. Can’t imagine any of my contractors are doing the same…
