  1. Past hour
  2. I decided to put feet on my LFSYS monzas as i felt the locking corners didn’t feel stable enough when stacked. l also used a flexible adhesive and measured the screws carefully beforehand and am very happy with the results. Road testing a new cab hey?? Oooo that’s a teaser! Pray tell ….🤣x
  3. I can’t comment on the patch side of things but to get a MD sound you need to play with a pick (I use a .73 Dunlop MaxGrip after trying so many others - thick picks just do not work sound wise and with the speed he plays at) and you need to play HARD. The old adage of garbage in garbage out is perfect here. You can emulate the amps he uses (Fender Super Bassman into a 8x10) but if you provide all your gear with a lame weak signal it’s going to be fighting a losing battle. Mike is well known for have a very high action probably to avoid string buzz with how hard he plays. The precision he uses has a 59 or 62 pickup which are actually quite smooth sounding - and more similar to a Gibson G3 than you’d think. I’ve played a G3 and they sound great and probably not far off the signature P’s he has. I can get a great MD tone from my P into a GK 400rb and 2x10 with just a little compression and no other effects, but weirdly I can’t seem to make my USA MusicMan Sterling sound right at all for MD stuff. Gotta be a P!!
  4. Ooh, that's given me an idea.........
  5. Bump for price drop £2100
  6. I think I might have overpriced this a bit - bump with price drop. £3200 with vintage TCT / East £3100 with reissue TCT £3000 if somebody wants it without a preamp installed.
  7. Selling off a trio of Boss DD series delay pedals after a bit of a change up. Simple and reliable, a little wear and tear, but all in generally good condition. DD-3, DD-6 and DD-7 available. £90 (ONO) each, including postage, or message me if interested in more than one and we’ll sort a deal!

  8. Belladonna is my name The Herbs (series 1 EP 3)
  9. Love that Olive top! Such an overlooked wood. Welcome to the "ACG 33-inch singlecut with an R-Type lower horn" Club! 🙂 EDIT: Oh hang on, you already have NINE ACGs?! You're probably already in the club, then. Hell, you may even be the president 😄
  10. Thanks, ive a feeling I might regret selling this one 😀
  11. Just flicked through 22 pages (day off, bored), only 2 pics of the Cheyenne (or Laramie or some name like that). Laredo? I mention this because I find the Rickenbacker too 'fussy' visually - blocks, binding, knobs/switches, pickup surrounds, massive scratch plate etc etc... However, the Cheyenne/Laramie/Fort Worth model has the lovely Rickenbacker silhouette without all the clutter, just the essentials. Imho etc.. Is this model just less popular, or is there another reason...? I await your comments/scorn with interest...
  12. Thanks I will try TalkBass. On the site he is alluding to similarities with Wals. Just keen to know if anyone had used them cheers
  13. Spot on
  14. Time to get a comfy chair, tea and biscuits, a quiet house, and settle in for a good read of that thread. Looking forward to seeing how @Jimothey's build comes along too.
  15. Hi, from his description it sounds like he's created hum cancelling 'stacked coils' like the Status single coils. (Tell me if I'm way off here, anyone!) Is your Wal-alike build going to have a similar parametric-style eq to the original? Did you try looking on TalkBass, being as the maker is American? (Good luck with their rather random search box!)
  16. What is the string spacing at the bridge please?
  17. Just completed the purchase of a router from rwillet (Rob). Anyone looking to purchase from Rob in the future, he was the perfect seller. Great communication, helpful and trustworthy, well packaged and sent the item FOC (unprompted) until we could confirm it was working at my end. 10/10. Cheers, Rich
  18. You don’t need to really - or at least it would be a lot of work for little real gain given that to manage output you can balance the G/D and A/E poles with PUP height, and in doing so some of the tone imbalance would at the same time be resolved (and of course by swapping PUP arrangement you’d probably introduce different tone issues) 👍
  19. Just to chime in here with the acoustic part, it sounds great unplugged. It depends mostly how old the strings are on it. I have over the years spent a long time practicing unplugged and to me it sounded great. Probably the biggest surprise is the B string. It really sings (again depending on the strings). I have had mine since 97 and its an 89 with EMGs. I have over the last years used it as a backup but it still sounds great. I prefer my Stage 2 and that has been my main bass for at least the past 10 years but the Thumb gets used sometime and often at practices. I totally understand why hate the shape. I am 6,1 so it does not feel like a problem to me. What I have always loved about the Thumb is how well it responds to right hand technique. I have also started to change my preference for the pickup selection. I have always just had the blend in the middle but I have started to favor the neck pickup more and more. Maybe its me being older but I always hated that sound but now that is my preference. Just a last thing, I cant remember if anyone has mention how they sound as fretless. I think they are amazing fretless instruments. I think they really sing and shine there. I have an 89 6 string fretless and that is the best sounding bass I have played. The tone is just perfect and again the B string is so clear and punchy. It does has that Thumb sound but just a little less than the 5er and that could very well being the pickups not being JJ. I used the 5 at practice couple of days ago and I have been thinking about using that for the gig next weekend I enjoyed it that much. Oh and I played few songs with a pick which I have not done for 25 years (I used to do it all the time) and again right hand technique and a pick, a whole rainbow of sounds opened up.
  20. There's a hydraulic press at work, I'll let you know how I get on 🤠
  21. Interesting! I assumed the whole point of the silent bass was you could plug headphones into it. Assumed it was standard across all models. I had an SLB200 actually, but I only ever played it through an amp. I don’t doubt the SLB300 is great, but I could never justify the cost.
  22. Today
  23. Genius 👌 I'd have actually paid attention to science in school if they taught it that way.
  24. Just a slight bump, I really don't want to start advertising this on ebay/reverb 😅 Happy to answer any questions of course.
  25. Interesting,I'd never heard this before. See attachment from Warwickforum.com
  26. This looks nice. How is the balance on a strap?
  27. This is beautiful, sent you a PM
