  4. Some sites might want to see proof of age on an official document. Basschat will want to see breath condense on a mirror.

  6. Oooh....this Anagram looks to be a very interesting new toy....er I mean specific tool I need to find out more about. 🤣 The basic information I can find eludes to it being a very flexible and powerful pedal with many, many IR / amp / mic / effects. However I cannot seem to find a full list of what effects / IR / amps etc. it has onboard or what can be uploaded onto it from the Darkglass suite. Anybody know where this info is? I downloaded the "Darkglass Suite for Windows (5.5.8) - Anagram Support" to see if it gave any info. Once installed it asks to plug in my Darkglass product (which I dont own) or select from the dropdown Simulator options....which doesn't contain anything about the Anagram. I'm a bit reluctant to splash out a lot of dosh on a piece of equipment that I'm not sure what it can actually do for me. Anyone got any idea?
  7. At my age they need to check I'm still breathing.
  8. I think the bubinga body adds a degree of compression to the tone. Don't some of the Moon Jazz-style basses have pickup placement similar to a Thumb, with the angled neck pickup? They definitely sound nothing like a Thumb. A more comfy Thumb would need a bigger body with a longer top horn, but not a Corvette, because they are uncomfortable in their own right.
  9. Excellent Rat based distortion with a 2 band eq, one of my favourites.

  11. I was there too! It's was our 4th time seeing them. Amazing band, with a very talented and wonderful vocalist. It's the first time we've seen them at The Brewery (their first time there I think), and I don't think the sound was as good as our three previous gigs, but it was still ok. I really liked everything Dave Jones did on bass, except perhaps his solo, which I found a bit hard to understand. Yes, highly recommended. Rob
  12. Same for me, a bass bought from this very parish, before Shitbreaks, that came totally unprotected in a too big hardcase without anything inside preventing it to move and, which is the most "delicious" part, with the shipping label sticked on the case itself that wasn't even locked by any means. Thankfully, when the driver presented it to me, he agreed with me that this wasn't secured at all, so he opened it before me and the ACG bass inside was there and intact. I was a bit upset, but the bass was fine. That said, I still love this place. 😉
  13. Yeah, it will only be when they're sitting under my 4x10 👍
  14. Agree with your thoughts here!
  15. Loved it really good watch. Jonny
  16. Yeah, a bubinga Jazz body would probably have enough mass to catch smaller objects in its gravity field. But walnut or mahogany shouldn't be too bad.

Depending on the use-case the 8 blocks on the Stomp are not that many. For example if you want to replicate a DG X7 you need: 1. compressor 2. LPF 3. HPF 4. a distortion 5. EQ If you then want a noise-gate, a volume-pedal and some amp/cab thingy for FOH you are already on its limits. To me the biggest drawback of such a 'replication' is, you have to surf 5 different block menus and their pages to fine-tune it. Not a nice thing to do at a rehearsal (I did this with a HX Effects that has a superior UI compared to the Stomp, still not nice). The Anagram is MUCH better with such tasks having the configurable rotaries!

  20. I’ve always liked the single-cut SM2, and when one became available from Jones Basses, I just couldn’t resist—I had to buy it! 😅 I’m glad I did, because the craftsmanship is top-notch. Surprisingly, the bass balances quite well too. Mind you, even if it didn’t, I’d be fine with it since I mostly play sitting down anyway. Tone-wise, it’s very versatile with a strong midrange presence. The action is perfectly set. Super happy with the bass that I am going to have another one built with the multi-coil configuration. 😑
  21. Don't quote me on THIS as I only have 2nd hand experience and I myself have never used international options (only some of my buds), but for that purpose there should be other similar solutions that are also instant and save you more money on fees & conversions. Also, I am going crazy offtopic here, sorry 😅 Scammy conversion fees trigger me.

  24. I recently got a Stomp to go with my Helix rack and I'm quite enjoying the challenge of making my bigger patches work with a single path on the stomp. It takes some effort, but I feel I'm getting to know the HX system all over again.
  25. No, not at all. Just sounds different because of the filtering by the electronics. EMGs are quite bold sounding and have their own flavour. Acoustically I can both hear and feel the amount of upper mids that are dampened by the amount of wenge and bubinga in the neck. In particular the wenge fingerboard will absolutely dampen some treble content. You could try your Thumb bass against a Status Series II at some point acoustically and see what differences you can hear. We've occasionally had discussions in this forum about the sound of backline and I've played through some bass rigs where it sounds like there's not just pillow over the speaker but a complete four poster bed. I've been at a loss to understand how the owner can actually hear themselves on stage amongst all the cymbals and guitars. And the answer is they can't but they are so used to it that playing based on hand position and the movement of their trouser legs is their normal and a yardstick for what sounds good to them. Perhaps "good" really means normal.
