Following the demise of The Terrortones, I'm now playing bass for In Isolation. Here's our new video for the song "TRAPPIST-1"2 points

I just have got one for this kind of money (thanks Mrs Painy for the early Christmas present)! No one home to take delivery tomorrow though so it's being delivered Saturday morning. Edit: Just £399 including fitted hardcase and next day delivery for a USA built Gibson in case you're wondering!2 points

Well guys....you were just RIGHT !! Arrived this morning...beautiful neck , lite , very very punchy and a nice and tight low B. Will sure change the knob configuration in a V/V/T ..;I like to mix the 2 pick up and choosing the balance. Capacitor and tone will also be changed..;but this are really minor adjustement to my taste and habits. Considering how much I've paid for it it's a nice bargain. The neck feels just fine and the pups sounds really good rich and powerful.2 points

Hello guys, I’m selling this piece of beauty. Warwick build this bass specially for me under my specification. It’s a unique bass with a powerful sound and has performed great at higher pro levels. Here you can watch a video-demo that I arranged for it so you can check her capabilities. It’s a very versatile bass and by the way, it’s a gorgeous finish!!! It has an scratch on the side because of the screws of the strap (see the pic), otherwise is perfect. I later installed an Aguilar OBP-2 preamp and EMG active pickups, a combination that I like a lot and that suits this bass perfectly. In this link you can check the specifications that Warwick used to build this bass: http://www.warwick.de/en/Warwick---Products--Instruments--Customshop---Masterbuilt--Basic-Bass-Models--Streamer--Streamer-Stage-I--Streamer-Stage-I-4-String--Streamer-Stage-I---14-2734--4-string--Pictures.html I told the guys on the Custom Shop to build after this customizations: * Ying-Yang inlays * D-Tuner * P style inverted pickups (as an a regular P bass, more room for slap pluck) * Ocean Blue Oil Finish In this video I play it, and besides it’s a “fake live”, the bass on the audio track is exactly this. In fact, I recorded several of the Powafunk album tracks with her. The instrument is located in Barcelona. Price doesn’t include shipping. The price of this bass is unbeatable and right now I'm not thinking on trading it, unless someone consider trading a USA MTD 535-24 plus money from my side. Payment through PayPal or cash if I meet you in person. Thanks and see you around!1 point

Hi bassers, Sorry not looking for trades, I need the cash. PRICE NOW DROPPED TO £2100!! Serial number in the 1500s, hand built by Mike Tobias and his team. My guess on the woods: Shedua/wenge/alder body Flamed/Birds eye maple through neck with wenge stringers Pau Ferro fingerboard Pickups are the usual Bartolinis, electronics appear unmodified. Scale is 34", string spacing at the bridge 18mm, and it weighs 4.1kg (bathroom scales method). Condition almost mint, there are no visible dings or buckle rash, just a couple of small areas along the side of the fingerboard where the lacquer is a little cloudy, apparently quite common on these old Tobiases. I've included close up pics of the two areas. The neck is very straight and I had frets dressed and full set up a couple of months ago. The bass has a belter of a tone, puts a childlike grin on the face of whoever plays it :-) Thanks to the ultra slim neck it is super fast to play and well suited to small hands. I can ship it in an old Bass Centre hard case but buyer will need to arrange shipment/insurance. Any trials welcome, pm me if you're interested & I'll get the kettle on. Feel free to PM me with sensible cash offers!1 point

Mr Pattituci seems to be gigging another new bass... I liked the look of the big jazzbox looking thing he was playing (like the Thundercat bass but a Yamaha) but that doesn’t seem to be for general consumption. This one looks like a TRBX but is semi hollow. It’s on the border of looking like an eBay special, but I like it.1 point

When "Boy" was released what U2 were doing was fairly radical compared with other "new wave" pop bands. Good tunes coupled with an inventive guitarist. It hasn't always been "stadium rock" either. I saw them in 1980 along with about 50 other people at The Boat Club here in Nottingham on their first proper headlining tour.1 point

Pretty sure @Wolverinebass is a 12 user, otherwise it’s just me and you so far mate!1 point

Of course mate this is my new dirt pedal I play into the Tyler This is the Tyler thread1 point

@Cuzzie Please could you post the link to that thread? I've got some mucking about ahead and would like to try some different options. I've got a Dean Rhapsody 12, I picked it up for <£400 about two years ago. Quality is way beyond expectation and it just doesn't go out of tune, it's very stable. It's the only bass I have that I haven't fettled in some way, the fret job is great. From my experiences of an 8-string it was trying one that was the deciding factor in me getting a 12. Jeff also uses an 8 a lot (I've seen him play one live on RVM, Go and I think State over the years). Based on my Dean I think that with the width of a 12-string board and the area that the strings cover I could around an 8-string quicker so for trickier lines where more dexterity is needed it would be more like a 4. I have to say that when I swap from the 12 to a standard 4 mid-gig it's like putting down a rocket launcher and picking up a rifle.1 point

@Sean utterly jealous mate. I have serious 12ver gas and am waiting for a Hamer to come up, and I know I have a set up waiting for it with instead of the LS-2 I have a Tyler by KMA Audio Machines to blend modulators and dirt with a clean signal. This does not require bi-amping, I started a thread on it in the effects section with links to how it works. so far as 8 vs 12.......although they are essentially tuned the same, to my ears the 12 is so much more, that extra octave string giving more presence in the mix. There is a reason why Tom, Jeff, dUg use a 12 and not an 8. only 8 I have tried was the Spector, I was thoroughly unimpressed by it, could have been an off day for me, maybe I expected too much, but I await patiently.1 point

Think you are right enough. Sure i read that somewhere. Damien also an incredible player. Sandin sent me quite a few FOH desk recordings of various gigs but he asked me not to share as he didn't want into any trouble with his bosses LOL Dave1 point

Agreed - I was just responding to the sounding like geddy thing. He doesn't, but he sings it well and as a cover version it is excellent. Because as a teenage rush fan who can play guitars and drums, there is no way you have any friends to play along with1 point

It's fine, gold is a good conductor so the ground wire will work exactly as it did with the previous bridge.1 point

Well, firstly it's not the MUSIC Business, it's the music BUSINESS and therefore it's about making money, thus what is marketable. I guess the music equivalent of Godwin's Law is mentioning the X-Factor machine - and unfortunately that is a great example of marketability.1 point

U2 - Achtung Baby (the sanctimonius Irish rocking tax avoiders at their best) Queen - A Night at the Opera (with one of the most beautiful love songs plus perhaps the most admired single of all time?) Beatles - Please Please Me (the album that was the start of changing everything in rock and pop music) If the Stone Roses had done their two albums as a double album, that would have made my 'current' list for sure and I just couldn't choose between the various Led Zepplin masterpieces!1 point

My initial thoughts were the ABM410, but it can be a bit weighty - great cab though. The Fender Rumble 410 is a nice sounding cab, and quite light/portable. Lastly, and a shameless plug here, I`m selling an Ashdown RM 414 (a 4ohm 410) that has had the cones swapped to Eminence Betas by Ashdown, it`s now rated at 1000 watts at 4ohms. Nice and light, comes with a Roqsolid cover and go-faster wheels, advertised on here at present for £295.1 point

In the meantime, I've just put this together. It's completely unscientific, but maybe a bit of food for thought....1 point

I've fancied trying a Maruszczyk Jake for some time now. Sadly, not had chance..... Any owners on here able to comment on how much they sound like a typical Precision? Or how the difference in pickup position affects their P tone? good luck in your search foxyFuze Everyone should have at least one P in their armoury - that's all I can say (keeping it down to just one is my problem lol)1 point

Except for the dumming... unless he's flipped the camera, but it doesn't look like it. Seriously talented, and so effortless on the vocals. What a bugger.1 point

The 5er sounds like a logical choice and reaching over an extra string you can quick adjust too1 point

Chances are there's an open coil in one driver, but those four may be series wired, so when one won't pass signal they all stop. You'll need to pull and test the top four drivers to be sure.1 point

Yes, you can tell by the 'A' Stamp in the Neckpocket. It also says on their forum that the Stamps on Guitar and Bass are almost the same. At least the red Stamps A,B,C e.g. Source: http://www.21frets.com/squier_jv/jv_quick_guide.htm1 point

Just to say the bass arrived today. My third ACG bass and equally as superb as my others. Another credit to Alan Cringean. I'd also like to thank Reggie for actually managing to get it to me having had to attend a funeral 100 miles away, and being pretty unwell and bed bound after I made the purchase. He obviously went the extra mile under these circumstances and I thank him very much. I highly recommend him to you all if he decides to sell any other gear. All best Reggie, and hope you are starting to feel a bit better. Chris ( rednose200 )1 point

I think Bach. I remember hearing he could improvise entire fugues which means playing stanzas forward, backwards, upside down etc (the stanza, not the performer!!). As for contemporary musician, I haven't much of an idea really.1 point

Franz Schubert was thirty-two when he died, having completed seven symphonies, over six hundred songs and a whole bunch of other major works. I'll admit to not having listened to it all, but of what I have, there's not much dross in there. Most of his stuff is still being played by top musicians to this day, and is unlikely to fade away. Just sayin'.1 point
