One of the bands I've played with for a number of years only plays about that many gigs , advert seems reasonable for me , ideal for a busy person who gigs for fun and can't commit to a full on musical project3 points

I have just spent some time catching up on a very moving thread, not too big to admit I even had a little cry. It makes me think of how this community has developed over the years, how it has grown, thrived and become the great place it is today. Made by the people that visit it. This in turn makes me think of some of the great members we have lost, snatched by time, illness or other causes. This forum will remain a place where you are remembered, some by many, some by few but you will be remembered. A salute to those we have lost, you remain in our hearts always!3 points

Maybe you should withdraw 'privileges' until she changes her mind. Oh wait, it doesn't seem to work that way round!3 points

For sale is my ACG J-Type 5-string, No. 0078. I bought it on here last year, and it's a beautiful thing - the only reason I'm parting company with it is I just use my other basses more, and this deserves to be played and enjoyed! All the original specs are still on Alan's website here - http://archive.acguitars.co.uk/portfolio/0078-j-type-5-string/ It's in really excellent condition. For the purposes of full disclosure, the only marks I can find are a couple of small scratches on the back near the control cavity cover, and two tiny marks on the fingerboard between the 2nd and 3rd fret, which you can't feel, and can barely see. These all pre-date my ownership. I replaced the original EQ01 filter preamp with an East Uni-Pre. The bass balances beautifully, and has great resonance and sustain, along with a huge tonal range from the pickups and preamp. UK shipping is included in the price, as is a Stagg lined hard case to ship it in if required. You're welcome to come and try before you buy - I'm just off the A3 near Woking in Surrey. Sorry, but I'm not looking for any trades. NOW SOLD.2 points

I dont know about that. There's a lot wrong with The Guardian, but at least it's not pushing a rabid swivel-eyed Brexit agenda and a return to Victorian no-welfare serfdom, as favoured by certain right wing tax-evading billionaire newspaper owners...2 points

I think you've pointed out and maybe made me realise I have a problem! Overwhelmed by GAS!! - The mini board did exist for a short while. But it's demise I blame on my local music shop offering Helix LT for interest free credit. Mini board has since been consigned to the To Do list and I haven't used it since. But so far, LT hasn't had a fair share of really being used yet either. Two projects never happened and really it's overkill for my function band.. hmmm... or maybe it isn't, I just need to spend more time with it ha ha!! My mind wanders and thinks, "well instead of a big board and a little board why don't I just settle on one medium sized board instead?" - Which could have been the B3n, Boss MS or of course now HXFX. Deciding between each as there's at least one pedal I will always keep at the start of my chain. Maybe this isn't a post for the effects forum, but I suspect that my inability to be happy with my gear is due to the short lived fix of new toys... I have zero problems with basses. My Go To bass is spot on. Pedals? oh dear me!2 points

Actually to be fair when I left school in the 70s I was able to get a job that paid enough for me to live independently. I think that would be next to impossible today and I'd probably end up dead in a ditch within a week. It's heartbreaking that young people now have to live with their parents for years on end because they cant afford to move out. It prevents them from becoming true adults, imho. I think that may be part of the problem.2 points

Just form a slight listen that last clip shows the mids/high end that I`m after. I`ll have a proper listen later on, but this really seems like it will be the all-in-one pedal that I`ve been waiting for. Drat, more expense2 points

For the DIYers among us, Julian Pohler (Mr. Shalltechnik04 - the guy behind the Guma Drive, Guma Antique and Growling Krizzly kits) is bringing out a combined HPF/LPF + DI kit soon called "Vong" (no idea what Vong means). I've asked him to keep me posted on when it's to be released.2 points

All fender body shapes. Boring, unimaginative and definitely unattractive! Add to that most single cuts but I like the Les Paul shape. Oh and the Warwick basses with the dildo top horn!2 points

I don't like natural finishes or sunbursts, slab body basses, body-binding, headless, single cuts, non-cloverleaf machine-heads, anything with more than five strings, things that look like coffee tables. Basically this :2 points

Thanks for the nice feedback! The monthly composition challenge typically receives a woeful number of votes in comparison to the usual threads about P-bass colours, string choices, cats and what have you... so we're grateful for every crumb of support we can muster. Cheers2 points

As a man of a certain age, I'll always have a soft spot for the 1980s SB range and also the Integra models that Billy Gould used on The Real Thing. I've got an old Japanese (1978) Primary P-bass; granted it's really just the body and neck that remain original (everything else was shot), but it's a very robust well made bass.2 points

Hi all, done a few transcriptions over the last couple of years so thought I'd start sharing them with you all here, before I get my own website up and running. I'll be doing some playalongs of some of these tracks in the not too distant future also. Hope they are of some use to you. Countdown to Ecstasy and Pretzel Logic are also done, just proof-reading and layout to do, so expect them soon! Cheers https://drive.google.com/open?id=17WeLSNw4fCnT6vLav75e0Nr0f0iXx6IB1 point

I think they use them as salad garnish liberally spread around a roasted swan, they then add the blood, sweat and tears of ex-servicemen as dressing. After dinner entertainment is usually scratching the Queen's head of a pound coin. Here's a belter from the Viz archives:1 point

Think it depends on what you're looking for from a band. For a band that its a hobby with circa 5-6 gigs a year i think their demands or caveats are a bit much to ask to be honest. Most musicians i know these days are playing in more than one band. This sounds more like a group of guys that just want to have a nice wee social rehearsal with mates rather than a working band. I have mates that don't respond very well to emails or TXT messages so 3 day limit could be a regarded as being a little tight. Band i was in last year started out like that withe expectations of just a few gigs a year after a while they found themselves wanting to do more. Sadly guitarist left tho. Time for me to then move on. As for doing homework before rehearsals i couldn't agree more. That annoys the hell outa me when others turn up expecting to learn the song on the night. Sadly i've found it quite common. Dave1 point

Hence why I used the phrase 'mildly aroused'... I seriously doubt they are able to achieve anything like 'full tumescence'.1 point

Nice to see you made the effort mate Don't get me wrong, the 4003 ain't my favourite bass (that accolade belongs to my sadly departed Status Streamline - must get another one at some point) I just think it's more quirky than crap.1 point

Mike purchased an Octave pedal from me. He paid quickly and kept good lines of communication throughout. Pleasure to deal with.1 point

This is the final version of a board that' been in progress now for a few months. M5 wasn' getting used so it' made way for the Zeus in the loop of the gr2. All source audio pedals are in the volume loop as they can be switched on and off via midi. Powered by a pp2+ and a fuel tank under the board. The hub is under there too.1 point

One of my few highly developed skills is spitting. I have become adept at landing hefty oysters of gob on screens rudely jutted into the offing between me and an artist I am trying to watch. It is hilarious because their initial reaction is to drop the now contaminated device but then this odd dance ensues passing the device from hand to hand trying to wave my noxious ejecta away.1 point

When people say tried and tested Stingray do they mean the slab three-bolt, the contiured four-bolt, the contoured six-bolt 2eq, the contoured six-bolt 3eq or the slab six-bolt 2eq? The Stingray has been continually improved since it was released, not one of them has been a let down. These are smart refinements by a company who don’t usually get it wrong, why such groundless negativity when none of us have even played one yet? Silly.1 point

A beautiful natural 70's reissue Fender Jazz with Hiscox hard case - Japanese built, 90s serial number (A034351) with a wonderful tone. A few buckle marks and knocks on the headstock but nothing at all bad or out of the ordinary for a guitar of this age. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like to arrange a viewing - I'd prefer collection from my flat in southeast London but happy to look into a courier if you'd like to ship it further afield.1 point

Its so you can prove to other people on social media that your life is better than theirs...? that's right isn't it?1 point

just throw my two penneth in, it's a very loud little cab on it's own, punchy and well defined, all depends on how loud the rest of your band are and the environment you play in of course. I had one with a compact and the two together were massive, I did however use the midget at quieter rehearsals on it's own and it was grand, a-b'd against a big baby I'm unsure, the big baby has more output and the tweeter as well, but the midget is a damn fine cab, one of barefaced best and if you find it's not enough on it's own another midget or a 1x10 would cure that, good luck1 point
