  1. I maybe going out on a limb here, ....crazy as it may seem, but I reckon the programme wasn't aimed at bass players.😲 Let's face it, if it was, they'd have lost most of the audience within minutes. Can you imagine "points of view" the following week "Outraged of Esher here......how very dare you for not including Mark McPastoriflea in your so called show. His influence on the development of my playing has been felt across pubs in the Oxshott & river Mole region for decades...."

  4. We always celebrate with a real Haggis and all the trimmings supper, with the poem spoken, (in best Scottish accent), by your's truly of course: Address to a Haggis Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o the puddin'-race! Aboon them a' ye tak your place, Painch, tripe, or thairm: Weel are ye worthy o' a grace As lang's my arm. The groaning trencher there ye fill, Your hurdies like a distant hill, Your pin wad help to mend a mill In time o need, While thro your pores the dews distil Like amber bead. His knife see rustic Labour dight, An cut you up wi ready slight, Trenching your gushing entrails bright, Like onie ditch; And then, O what a glorious sight, Warm-reekin, rich! Then, horn for horn, they stretch an strive: Deil tak the hindmost, on they drive, Till a' their weel-swall'd kytes belyve Are bent like drums; The auld Guidman, maist like to rive, 'Bethankit' hums. Is there that owre his French ragout, Or olio that wad staw a sow, Or fricassee wad mak her spew Wi perfect scunner, Looks down wi sneering, scornfu view On sic a dinner? Poor devil! see him owre his trash, As feckless as a wither'd rash, His spindle shank a guid whip-lash, His nieve a nit; Thro bloody flood or field to dash, O how unfit! But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed, The trembling earth resounds his tread, Clap in his walie nieve a blade, He'll make it whissle; An legs an arms, an heads will sned, Like taps o thrissle. Ye Pow'rs, wha mak mankind your care, And dish them out their bill o fare, Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware That jaups in luggies: But, if ye wish her gratefu prayer, Gie her a Haggis.

  6. Version 2 in progress. Updates include: Local thickness around features increase from 3mm to 4mm for stiffness/strength Reduced length by an additional 2.5mm to 98.5mm Moving the foot switches into the corners - after many hours thinking about this, i feel this is the best location for them if they remain on the top. Addition of parameter detents- a seperate part will clip to the underside of the parameter knob and allow for indexing. Screen recess to allow for cover branding (thanks @ped)

  8. You know, this post reminded me of something hilarious. I was actually a chronic alcoholic until just over 10 years ago when I had that moment where I realised that maybe drinking 2 bottles of vodka a day wasn't conducive to continued life or sanity. I still wake up with the itch every single day. However, about a year after I stopped one of my friends asked me if I was still not drinking. I replied that I was still sober. She then said that she knew how I felt. I enquired as to what was going on in her life that would be such a problem. She then said "Yeah, it must be awful. It was so difficult for me when I gave up meat." Now some would be offended at that, comparing someone's trendy vegetarianism (which she soon after stopped) to in effect what is a horrific addiction and illness, but I had to go to the toilet as I was laughing so hard I thought I might be sick. This gear challenge for some people is difficult. I understand that. However in the grand scheme of things there are much more important things in life to worry about. Ooooh, look!! A new Darkglass amp!! 😲

  12. Some of you might find this useful/interesting..... When i opened up my future impact pedal out of curiosity to see what was inside, i was shocked to find mostly (continental brand) fresh air! Here you can see that the lower half of the pedal is almost exactly, approximately an MXR BEF worth of space!! So i formulated a plan to Design and 3D print an enclosure, into which i can re-house the innards of the Future impact, to make a much more pedalboard friendly footprint. I began by removing the knobs from the outside and the circuit boards from the inside of the case I then laser scanned the inside of the case to generate an STL that can be used to replicate the Mounting features/holes in the new design. I copied all of the internal/external features from the STL, but moved the foot switches as close to the circuit board as i could on the inside. I didn't put in any small holes for the screws, as i thought these would be better aligned using the actual circuit boards as a template. I printed the 1st Prototype ove night last night and assembled it this morning. Everything went together great and still functioned perfectly. I was able to reduce the length of the enclosure from 155mm to 101mm, and i think there's room for further improvement on that. The finished prototype unit. And here it is re-installed on the board. I plan to tweak the design and print another next week if i get a chance. Some of the changes will include reducing the length of the housing even further, moving the on/off switch more central to get it away from the encoder, adding a feature to recess display protector of some kind, branding/lettering. I'm open to suggestions for additional improvements. For now, its printed in PLA, but once the design is finalises, ill be printing it it Black Nylon which will stand up to pedalboard life a bit better. Once the design is complete, im happy to share the STL so you can print it yourselves, or £ven print a few and ship them out to those interested. *Any FI owners that's capable of cool graphic designs can have one for free if they develop the artwork (2 colors)

  13. This is a 2018 custom built Jaguar bass, made with the finest ingrediënts. Solid ash body with P/MM configuration, Danish oil finish, Maple neck with rosewood fretboard, tiger stripe wood, 40mm nut width, 34"long scale. Lace sensor Man O War precision pickup, Lace Sensor Man O war musicman pickup, Glockenklang 2EQ > volume (push/pull active/passive), pu blend, stacked treble/bass. Hipshot USA bridge and ultralight tuners. Strung with LaBella flatwounds. The decal on the headstock can easily be taken off if you want, because there is no laquer used. Plays and sounds very very good, and the looks are stunning. Condition is very good, there were bigger tuners installed but replaced by the Hipshots, so there are tiny holes on the back of the headstock. Open for trades/part ex with another 4 string.

  18. OK - back to the subject Well, I'm pretty much ready to start cutting wood. I've found a decent piece of sapele for the back and the purpleheart is on order. That should be with me Monday/Tuesday and then I reckon I'm ready to go The pickup cover and control cover are just representative, but this is broadly how it'll look (without the chalk marks ) ((...and the peak won't be as sharp as that!))

  20. Aye, looking forward to it. Haggis, neeps, tatties and a few drams. On a lighter note we will be having Veggie haggis as I dont eat meat. The Mrs, who loves meat, prefers the taste of the Veggie option. Who would have thought? Still made by Macsween though.

  21. It's been a hectic month for me work-wise, and I haven't been able to spend much time on this project. However, I have located a CNC company prepared to supply us at a reasonable cost, which is a big step forward. RichardH has been doing sterling work finalising the drawings, building on Ghostbass's original work, and we should be putting the final drawings up very soon for those wishing to use their local wood merchant. I'll be back on the job again within the next few days to organise a prototype flat pack, and I'll keep you informed of events. I'm hoping to have flat packs ready once this awful cold spell has finished, which is probably good timing.

  40. This is still on iPlayer. I watched it yesterday. I’m not a Jeff Beck fan at all but it’s a great programme. I admire and respect what he does, I love his approach, I’m just not that keen on what he plays. But a brilliant programme, I’d recommend watching it to anyone

  45. A 'super intelligent' footswitch that won't be included with the amp but will be available as an 'optional' extra for £75. Seriously, I am intrigued by these amps. It would be the Alpha Omega 900 or the new Mesa WD-800 in terms of new amps I would be keen to try if I was looking for a new amp (which I'm not).

  47. Hi all, thought I would update on this thread, have made some good progress, am still struggling but somehow managing to get through it , have been practicing more and working (although not always successfully) towards certain musical goals. I have also been working on trying to expand a little on the more mundane, simple bass parts that I often have to play, sometimes with good success, sometimes not (sometimes root fifth is what is perfect for the song) but focusing on trying to play more interesting bass parts has brought back some of my enthusiasm for playing and I now have some nice basslines to play. One thing i am still suffering from is brain fog, I went to a jam night the other night and me and a friend started playing the first song and my mind just went completely blank, I totally botched the first minute of the song, thankfully I redeemed myself a little later in the set .
