We very recently recorded an EP, Railroad - Delivers The Goods (covers, no our own stuff but hey...) which was selected today by the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association as one of their four Pick of the Month albums. Can't tell you how absolutely chuffed we are, especially considering that Catfish and Jimmy Vaughan are two of the others!15 points

-Translated from Ghrythinden to 20th/21st century English Hey, fellow archaeologists! We’re continuing our research and exploratory digs in some of the rather less polluted and safer areas of the small planet that we know as DMP 538695 - and was apparently called ‘Earth’ at some time in the distant past. This object was unearthed a while ago and has been carefully cleaned. Carbon dating would suggest its over 5 million years old – but what is it? Any ideas? Some experts have suggested that it has some sort of pagan or religious significance. The four metal ‘leaves’ at the top actually turn - maybe so they could be aligned with particular stars? And the metal ‘eye’ above the strange hieroglyphics was possibly to ward off evil spirits? And what on earth could it have been attached to – we are guessing maybe some sort of large ceremonial drinking vessel. Let me know your thoughts!9 points

Ultra rare Rickenbacker 4003 in Fireglo. One of only three known to exist and the only one still in playable condition. As we all know, John Hall copyrighted the design so hard that even Rickenbacker themselves were unable to legally manufacture them, and all traceable examples were destroyed.5 points

When clearing my old heavy gear to make space after a drastic and unplanned downsizing I realised no Basschatter would want what I was ditching. Too old too heavy and I needed room immediately. So down to our local 2nd hand shop it went. Someone else storing it for me, no delivery or postage hassle, seemed to make sense. Not much use for a quick sale as stuff has to sit there awaiting the ideal buyer to wander in but out of my way. Popped today amazed to find a couple of cabs had gone. One I can't for the life of me even remember owning! So of course I pocketed the cash minus the guy's commission and invested it wisely. Did I bo||ock$. I turned my cow into magic beans there and then.....3 points

Im selling this beautiful Spector Euro 5LX (2017) It plays amazingly and sounds punchy, full and cuts through just like you would expect a Spector too, it has also sat really well in the mix for a few recording sessions and weddings ive played so its versatility is not to be scoffed at! Near mint with only 2 small marks to be found, also comes with its Spector fitted Hardcase. Looking to trade for: 5 strings!!! Musicman (maple fretboard), Warwick, Mayones.. and anything 5 string. TRY ME!2 points

When I lived in a flat, one of the previous downstairs neighbours liked to play his music a bit too loud. After a short while, I decided to play bass along with the songs at a decent volume (decent enough to make walls rattle). Didn’t always play the same notes as the songs, as I could just hear the beat.2 points

Try standard gauge (760T) white nylon flats by La Bella. Meaty to dig in on, a very nice top end, and low tension too. Some people find them too floppy, but if it's between that and regular steel core flats there's no contest for me.2 points

l got one the same model and colour in 2015 (I think) and it's hands-down the best instrument I've ever owned. I changed the bridge out of curiosity but it certainly didn't need doing as I loved it fresh out of the showroom. I did swap the black pickguard for a tort one, but the fit isn't as nice as I'm planning on going back to black!2 points

I agree with all of the above but would like to add one suggestion: Agree on a set list asap and a running order, then ensure you stick to it on the night and rehearse to it in advance it's surprising just how well the brain remembering the end of one song then triggers the recall of the next song. I have always insisted on a set list in advance especially when working with unfamiliar material and the above has always made me more confident. Good luck, enjoy the gig...it will be fine2 points

Am liking the look of the new models. I love GK stuff, having started with a couple of 800RB heads (still got a very tidy one!) and then on to the 700RB ->1001RB (which is still my main amp) and also an MB800 with an MB200 as a backup. If the Legacy 800 captures any of the tone of my 800RB then I'll be very interested. $899 in the US, now shipping June 21st according to Guitar Center website.2 points

To be fair, i have literally just got to grips with mine after a year and a half - its been up for sale about 3 times..! I think part of it is there are just so many options! I deleted a load of the presets because they were just distractingly weird - and went on youtube watching lots or 'rig rundowns' and those things where they get the master tape of a song and then show you how they do each bit: "Oh, that's what an SVT really sounds like? Ok, note to self, never buy one..." A big difference i found between modellers and other types of effects is that because they're modelling an actual thing, like a "UREI 1176LN" compressor, you have to actually learn how to properly do compression or it sounds pants...!2 points

Hi everybody! I built Phil's cab last week the one with a single beyma driver that he built at the bass bash. I had so much fun with building this and really like what came out! The gig I wanted to test it on got cancelled last minute but I wanna already post my experience her so far. I mainly play double bass and do a lot of jazz gigs. The challenge is to find a setup thats portable but powerful enough and nice sounding. I got interested in this cab because its quite powerful and phil made this smaller version of the original design to have less boominess in difficult rooms. This is an issue I experience quite a lot with double bass. So I got the parts and built it which was fun, building it yourself you also get to chose the color an little extras which makes it truly yours. From testing it at home and in a rehearsal without drums i can say that I'm really happy so far. I'm using it with a aguilar tone hammer 500. My first impression at home was that I had to dial down the mids quite a bit. But when I used my headway edb-2 preamp with it it sounded way more natural, so I thought the sound profile of the aguilar could be an issue with this cab. In the rehearsal with saxophone and jazz guitar though I found the sound great without adding the preamp, it was clear and natural. The room was a lot bigger than my small practice room where I first tried it but probably having also the other instruments changes a lot what you hear in the end. I'm looking forward to test it on the next gigs then I'll be able to tell more!2 points

I have this conversation frequently. It seems that, unlike "the olden days", there are very few bad Basses made today. There are tons of threads here on BC advocating for a virtually unheard of brand or a bass which changes hands for a few hundred quid which is surprisingly good VFM. Only this evening a friend of mine in Scotland was telling me how good his new MM Sire was. Personally, one of my favourite brands is SGC Nanyo Bass Collection - you can pick them up for around £200...and I've got loads of custom basses. You don't need to spend thousands on a good bass anymore - most low end basses are more than adequate - and the various shoot outs held at Bass bashes have shown that the majority of attendees (who are bass players themselves) have trouble differentiating between low end and high end basses. This doesn't stop most of us having GAS - many of us have reached the stage of being financially stable so we can justify the purchase of high end gear....even though we don't really need it.2 points

I have 100 or more CDs on the shelf above my stereo in my 'music room' (smallest bedroom/box room) and they are all Grateful Dead, mostly live recordings. In fact most are 2 or 3 disc live shows. A few are 20+ disc box sets. I have most of them of them in my iTunes library as well. So whatever I listen to, it will be the Dead, unless it's a gig or rehearsal recording of the band I play in, which plays nothing but the Dead.2 points
