  5. A conclusion which any reasonable person might make and further evidence - were it needed - of the contempt in which we are held by the perpetrators of this falsehood. They think that we won't notice but that if we do, we will assume that Mr Porky Pig has let himself go. I put this observation to Mr Pig's legal counsel and he agreed with me that the imputation of over-eating could be added to the charge sheet they are preparing for submission to the Superior Court of California (Mr Pig's home jurisdiction). If the video makers are wise they will settle damages before the case comes before a judge. I understand that Mr Pig is confident that justice will be served. In other news, it seems that the bogus Porky Pig has gone into hiding following the revelation that he is - in fact - Mr Rodney Pig, a supermarket bag filler from Cupertino, Ca. with convictions for petty larceny and possession of cocaine.

  6. That's not Porky Pig. That's an imposter. ^^ This is Porky Pig. He's about 20 years younger and three foot shorter than the bogus Porky. And what's with Axl Rose? He's dropped three decades and fifteen stone from the lardy geriatric last seen out with AC / DC. So two imposters. Someone should f*cking sue someone about this. Edit: ... and the fake Porky's wearing a blue neck tie like some kind of wage slave gimp. The real Porky wears a red bow tie. I'm so furious I could sh*t.

  7. He's taken a bass and amp with him. The wildlife is not only bothered, it's absolutely traumatised. The locals are reporting deer walking around with rabbits stuffed in their ears.

  14. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Or in Gibson’s case, potentially worse than Henry. Who’d have thought that possible? They release a shambolic threat video, then pull it down when people think it’s creepy and sinister 😂😂😂 An encouragingly comedic start for the soulless suits charged with squeezing profit out of the past. I look forward to what they come up with next. Perhaps I should practice looking surprised for that day in the future when when the troops show up at the front door with a warrant to smash up my lovely Tokai 335? And what is more rock and roll than being called Director Of Brand Experience? You lost, hippies!

  18. Well, I've had a big, pleasant surprise. I took a bass in trade, and it has blown me away! I had a Squier CV precision in the past... Sold it and regretted it. But I recently got this one in trade, and it's even better that the Fiesta Red one I had before. That red CV was amazing, but this one (sonic blue) is one utterly amazing bass. I took it to rehearsal the night I got it, and it sounded as awesome as it plays. It's lightweight, looks lovely, and is the most comfortable P bass I've ever played! It's a better player even than my JV, and sounds as good.... Perhaps it sounds even better? I can't quite believe it. I know many people will think I must be mad, but I've owned US, Mex, VM Squier, Japan & Roadworn p's and this is the best one. It has surprised me, to say the least Oddly enough, I don't normally like to keep the bridge cover on a bass, but I like it on this bass. Anyhow, couple of pics, and a question - should I keep the original slightly yellowed white pickguard, or change for my favourite Tort?

  19. Glad it's working out for you, I don't have the P34 but I do have a BB734, I was getting a bad sound from the E string (very dead thud) I turned the saddle around to work in the same way it's setup on a 5 string and now I have great sustain and sounds a lot better. I played a Music man since 1980 and it took a while to adjust to the Yamaha, but I must admit it's a great bass to play and a lot lighter on the shoulder after a two hour gig lol, happy days.

  23. Yep, definitely stick with the white. Congrats on the bass by the way. They do tend to deliver well above expectations. Without wishing to cause John to blush, the fitted Kiogon loom is a great upgrade on these (I have the same on mine). Enjoy!

  26. Was looking for Yammy BB vs Fender P comparisons and came across this. There’s not a huge amount in it but I do think the BB sounds a tiny bit more characterful. They’re both strung with flats, though not of the same brand so that in itself will have some impact. Not to mention all the other variables...

  31. New day, fresh ears etc, and I’m loving the P34 a lot more today. I think its staying put. Ive got my head around the fact that its not a Fender P bass, and its voiced differently. This was the issue yesterday. Now i get that its not going to sound like my Fender ive accepted it more. The P34 seems to lack the low end heft i get with other P basses, but i have a feeling this will mean a cleaner low end when i play live. Not quite got the Fender P character, but again, its different so ill just get used to it, and embrace it. Its so easy and inspiring to play. Been doing loads of runs i could never quite achieve on my other basses, at least not as cleanly. Not sure why, but it just feels easy to play. Might even be those stings as they feel very tight, which i like. No fret buzz anywhere, and ive not touched the set up at all. Normally by now ive made at least one or two adjustments to a new bass. I love how the bass isn’t dictating what note i play and where. With my other basses (especially P basses) playing on the E string around the 8th fret and above gives a more wooly tone, so i tend to avoid that area. All the notes on the P34 seems to have the same volume and clarity (within reason)and means i dont feel restricted. A pleasure to play.

  32. To be fair I play pubs and clubs, a real weekend warrior BUT I was product manager for Panasonic/RAMSA some years ago so I have a little knowledge (dangerous thing). I also had a 100W Sound City stack as a youth with 2 4x12s. I do not suffer from tinnutis despite 1000s of gigs and being 67. I don't agree with everything Joe Bonnamassa says in this artical but there is a grain of truth in what he says. Remember that your instrument is not just your guitar/bass, it is the whole signal chain: Bass Instrument Cable Amp Cable Speaker Room Listeners ears. Change any one and your sound changes. In my experience (YMMV) In-Ears give a rather unnatural sound. They tap into the sound at the cab I feel like I am in an isolation booth, I don't enjoy it and as I play music for enjoyment, they are self defeating for me. Amplifiers, especially guitar amps need to be pushed hard to get the sound, so get the right sized amp for the gig. For most pubs/clubs, 5-15 Watts is adequate .For bass, in general, the volume of the amp/cab does not contribute so much to the sound so again, in my opinio,n the power of the amps is not so relevant. Volume does not affect the sound of the bass anywhere near as much as it does the guitar. For the same pubs/clubs, FOH support is not needed and volume can, and should be, controlled. My band get more compliments when we play quieter. The best band I have ever seen in a pub are Chicago 9. Even the Harp player had his own amp and the PA? A tiny Peavey system, used only for the vocals. In-Ears have their place as does the Soundman or Woman (please don't call them engineers) but for most semi- pro bands the most important members of the band are volume controls. Finally one more issue with In-ears. The size of the driver compared to the volume of your ear canal is massive. There is great danger of ear damage if the volume it too high for too long. Smartphone makers don't put volume limiters on the headphone output for nothing. Volume controls go down as well as up and that is what will protect your ears from over-loud transducers of any size.

  33. That’s fine and essentially wet sanding which does indeed grain fill as you go. Some people use dilute Tru oil with white spirits for the first couple of wet sands as it goes further, then pure Tru oil, but it’s all good either way

  34. Thanks guys, it's lovely. Greg, as you know, smaller and far more fiddly instruments have stolen my heart recently, or this would be going nowhere (it's actually only a project because I was going to replace the circuit with a more versatile circuit from John/Kiogon with series/parallel options on both PUPs, in short given that those nice guys at Dimarzio have provide lots of wiring options, with that I circuit I was going to be able to do P/J, J/J, P,P and J/P, but I simply haven't got around to it. Happy to include that circuit in sale also to be honest). As I'm sure is the case for many, I'm also trying to support my mothers nursing care costs at the moment, so am going to sell the stuff I have that doesn't get regularly used and put the proceeds into that. God bless the complete failure of successive governments to provide decent care for our parent's generation when things go wrong. Anyway, woods? Funnily enough, in both case I'm not 100% sure, both were bought used, one from the US last year, and one IIRC from Europe a while back. I don;t think they're Paduak, but I'm not sure. The look and feel of both in the flesh are outstanding, and both Nik and Greg, being Wal-heads, will know what I mean by this bass having more than a passing resemblance in looks and feel, and whilst it would be daft to say in tone, the core tone of the instrument, i.e., unplugged, has a gorgeous nasal quality, think Song From Under the Floorboards. If anyone wants this as an intact, fully working instrument, with the new circuit, I'm happy to sell it on that basis but it's going to take a few weeks to do and it will cost around £150 more, trust me, it's worth every penny, it's glorious. Cheers C

  35. Please give her her full title. It's the long-suffering Mrs Teebs. And not a jury in the world would convict her given the extenuating circumstances (these being that she's the long-suffering Mrs Teebs....). Have a lovely time in Northumberland. And try not to bother the wildlife. PS Nice looking spot, btw. Will expect a tripadvisor-stylee thread to report on it when you get back

I think we’ve all been on the , string quest , I certainly have , and for me they are without a doubt my personal favourite strings for reggae , I’ve had a set of D addarios on my jazz for about 5 years and through my home practice LB30 and MB115 or the studio rig , the tone is very similar to this🙂

  40. Firstly you cannot ban someone from selling a Gibson as a Gibson, a Fender as a Fender or a Rickenbacker as a Rickenbacker. However of course if Gibson has any kind of IPR on its designs, they are within their rights to protect them. Gibson's problem is that the quality has dropped so badly that some of the so called clones.Tokai for example, make better Gibsons that Gibson. Of course the Epiphone range muddies that water if you don't know that Epiphone is Gibson's "Squier". So before they go after all and sundry, they should invest to ensure that a Gibson Les Paul is better than a Tokai or even Harley Benton. Then they can rightly go after the Jibsons and the Chibsons and boutique clones.

  45. The cab is now connected up to my measurement system and I'll finalise the crossover at the weekend. The preliminary design I did last week is pretty close - so that shouldn't take too long at all. I'm also contacting CNC companies to see who can produce these kits for us at a reasonable cost. I'll report back when I have some news.
