  1. Hi folks G&L SB-1 from 1991. Has some nice wear to it - but all cleaned up and with incredible low action. Neck is dead straight and truss rod works well. Currently wearing Labella flats (760FX) but will also come with a set of D'addario Cobalt Flats which have been on for 10 minutes. Beautiful sounding P bass - the MFD pickup jus sings and the tone control can take you from vintage thump to snappy sizzle. When I bought it the shielding was poor so it's been fully reshielded and a new jack installed so it's now quiet as a mouse. Collection only from York or nearby (can deliver to a reasonable distance of halfway point). No case but can include a brand new Fusion Urban Gig Bag (black) for an extra £120. Any questions please let me know - there's a clip of it here (played with Cobalt Flats) Cheers ped https://soundcloud.com/chris-hiscocks/cams-jam

  2. I have to get my ducks in a row. I might list the White Jazz too at some point. I’m playing less and less, the band isn’t moving forward. I have a relentless set of bills and with no lottery win on the way... I got this last year. A plan 20 years in the making. Cost me a great bass and a bank loan to get it. Its a 2001 flea, the badass, gotoh machine heads, Duncan/Modulus pickup, Aguilar preamp. some minor dinks and knocks (but nothing shocking) and looks ridiculously lovely - very hard to photograph as I never managed to capture its loveliness. the case is battered, but original. I’d prefer collections. but will post at buyers risk and cost (insured only). Can’t believe I’m doing this - but, please...please don’t tell me I’m mad etc. It’s stinging enough as it is...

  4. More legal shenanigans. Guitar.com reports that Heritage Guitars of Kalamazoo, Michigan are counter-suing Gibson after the latter accused Heritage of trademark infringement. This is despite the existence of an existing 30 year-old legal agreement between the two companies that allowed Heritage to make guitars that looked pretty much like Gibsons (apart from the headstock). Guitar.com story here. The irony is that Heritage only came into being when Gibson shut down their Kalamazoo plant leaving behind the workers and the machinery that had produced the classic old Gibson electrics. In a sort of local MBO the workers kept the plant going, turning out guitars that many believed were equal to or better than modern Gibsons. This is the latest in a round of litigations initiated by Gibson's new team. Yet, in December 2019 Gibson exec Cesar Gueikian claimed: '“We inherited, from the previous owners, a legacy of confrontation and litigation, which we have essentially now been putting to bed. There are literally just one or two situations that we haven’t been able to resolve amicably, and not because of a lack of intention on our side. But everything else, why not collaborate with those who are doing really cool things?” Some people might suggest that aggressive litigation is very much at the centre of Gibson's 'collaborative' ethos and that despite their many emollient pronouncements to the contrary Mr Gueikian and his hirsute boss Mr James Curleigh are in fact lying f**kface rat bastards, spawned from the sphincter of a satanic 'luxury brand' hedge fund that's more interested in shutting down competitors prior to selling the company on at a profit. These accusers would - of course - be completely wrong. It is plain to the meanest intelligence that Gibson merely wants to be everybody's friend and just concentrate on channelling their passion for really, really great guitars.

  5. Watching that was like having sex. A long, drawn out, torturous procedure ending in a predictable and disappointingly brief eruption.

  6. Looks like a bass with a beer gut. The way its dressed in white and gold kind of reminds me of Elvis in his final years

  9. But I guess I can't complain: I spent a while discussing the P7 model with Andertons and then the guy offered me a discount based on V7 pricing and managed to send out a V7 rather than a P7 before I spotted what he'd done. Happy ending is that they're going to swap the basses to get me the P7 I was after but stick to the discounted price they had given me. So apart from the slight inconvenience and delay, it's not a bad result!

  11. Afraid it looks like a child has drawn a melted wax candle and got some old fruit and nut wrappers to make the hardware. Dimensions seem to be based on my fat bum. Not a winner in my books

  12. PRICE REDUCED to £550 Here’s a cracking bass which has been shamefully underused in the past 5 years, hence the sale. It’s a Bassline Buster Classic, made in Germany in 1996. Bassline are a small, custom bass company based in Germany. The new price of this would’ve been circa £1600. A few years ago I contacted Bassline directly who were ace to give me the following wood specs: Body european ash, hardmaple neck, and a padouk fingerboard It has LeFay pickups and a Noll 2-band EQ with controls for Volume (push/pull for passive mode), Bass, Treble and Pickup Pan. Nut Width is 38mm and there’s a ‘Zero’ fret. It also has Neutrik locking jack socket and Schaller strap locks (with 2 positions at the bridge end to quickly jump between heights which conveniently also makes it stable resting on the floor). It’s in ace condition, although I’d note there’s a tiny indent on the scoop up to the fingerboard past the 24th fret and few marks on the lower horn and body edge where I knocked the bass over after posting this ad (see photos in comments). All minor and character adding in my opinion - like us all it’s lived! Playability wise, it has he slimmest, fastest neck I’ve ever encountered. It’s also super lightweight (3.7kg) so along with the fast neck you can keep going for hours. I don’t have a gig bag but the bass will be shipped very securely in a Fender cardboard bass box, within hand-carved polystyrene protection. Any questions or you’d like a test drive, feel free to pop me a message! Tim

  13. Very clean, all original Warwick for sale. Flamed maple body and neck. Wenge fingerboard. Frets in great shape. Great player. Stunning neck. 4.2 kgs on the bathroom scales. Original strap locks and Ernie Ball strap included in the sale. I’m happy to deliver the bass an hours radius from here. Located in sunny Swindon.

  14. I was having a scrabble around a local music shop today and this track came on. Immediately my ears were on high alert when this record came on. Imo it is just superb. Fantastic groove bass (I think) by Cameron Dawson. .. Amazing voice he has also.. Ive no idea why there is a Jack Russel running around.

  15. This is a touch unusual being white blonde ash with rosewood. You can just see the grain in some lights. These pics make it a little lighter than it is in the flesh. Very few of these made as far as I can tell. I just play bass for fun and on recordings. This has some old flats on it and it does that deep warm Motown thump and bump wonderfully. Lovely smooth very dark chocolate rosewood with hints of chestnut. Ebony wood pull bar. Very nice pickups and has a sort of vintage vibe look without being vintage or a reissue. Anyone else have one?

  16. Finally after 18 months of talking about it. It’s here. Arrived this morning and I’m very pleased. Quick play with the Status. Paired with the CN212 and it sounds awesome. Intuitive to use and very small! I have a gig tonight and it’s coming along!

  23. Do it. Over the last couple of years I have taken a few TE heads out of combos and built cases or installed them in 19 inch racks. It makes classic old gear portable and usable. I use my Trace heads with Barefaced or Vanderkley lightweight neo cabs, they sound superb (better than original combos!) I do not like butchering classic gear, but you can keep combo cabs to retrofit in future if you feel the need and have the space! There is a very limited market for heavy old Trace cabs whereas the heads stiill seem very popular (especially with me!) Good luck.

  26. I asked. Simple as that. I got the bass from Thomanns, who didnt have the bags (as they aren’t supplied with the basses outside the USA), so i emailed the CEO of Sire to ask how i could get hold of a couple, as i planned on getting a second bass. Obviously i hyped my enthusiasm up a bit, did a bit of gushing etc, and he said he would send me two, all i had to do was pay for delivery. We worked out that delivery was going to be quite and bit so he said forget paying that and just got them sent to me. Now THATS customer service.

  27. Looks like you, me and Sylvia will be plenty warm when we get tied to a stake and burned. The irony is that it will be by folk who think relic'd basses are classy. 😁

  31. Oh dear. Not Marcus Bell (Employee at SIMS) - otherwise known as @OC-2 ?! 🤦‍♂️ I know Sims have chanced it before with promoting their wares on here without paying - I've turned a blind eye even after emailing and being ignored... but this is pretty low. Enough to put me off ever buying one, anyway. Guys - one last time - if you want to advertise, pay like everyone else...

  32. Ashdown Little Stubby into a Baer ML112 ❤️❤️ As punchy or as smooth as you like, depending on how you set the feedback control on the amp, and the 6" driver in the cab gives a real presence to the sound in the mix. Plenty loud enough for me to gig with, too.

  34. I’ve just acquired a Stomp (again) and looking forward to going full IEM for the foreseeable future. I still have a good rig for when needed or a special occasion but having had an amp failure a few weeks ago and having no option but to go direct it was grand and I’m happy to embrace it.

  35. Congrats!! I very nearly bought that bass off Paul myself! They really are superb basses. You've caught the bug** haven't you? You'll soon be surpassing my modest hoard of 3 Ibbys and Woody's stash of 6,359 which he keeps in a shed together with 6 months' loo roll and tinned bean supplies 😁 **Ibanez not the OTHER one...

  36. I started using an Ampeg SVT-7 Pro recently, and it’s much more grown up in its power delivery that the other light weight amps I’ve used in the past. The tube preamp, compressor and ultra high/low buttons give it bags of personality. It brings my instruments to life in a way to date none of the super small heads have. And as far as willy waving goes: 1000w at 4ohms! Let’s just hope it doesn’t break like the early models did! In the event that the SVT decided to fry itself, I carry a Quilter BB800 around as backup- a little rough around the edges in terms of sound but also punches well and is very small if that’s important to you. The Tonehammer 500 would also rank highly on my list, but only if you plan to run it either at low volumes or through big cabinets- it gets a bit shouty/out of breath at high volumes.

  37. Ah well, he came clean in the end. Not worth getting angry over. I’d suggest that Sims/Marcus need to sort an affiliate page up. Love a lot of the things they do as a company - and we’re a captive audience for a lot of their products. We can be a spiky crew at times - I think we need to chill out; Marcus, have a word with Martin and set up a nice Basschat discount code - then I can find my donor BB for the poo brown sparkle bass...

  38. Speaking of NE2s they really do look completely crap when they go for white with gold , far worse than turdburst, don't they? Can't imagine any self respecting bass player touring with Eric Clapton or Phil Collins would ever be seen dead playing one. Amateurs eh?

  39. When I had my all white bass built, I did contemplate white pickups - but my OCD wouldn’t allow the slight mismatch of white. And I went with a nickel nut to match the frets.

  40. Ok, no more wonky stick, it's done. It's a lovely looking thing but I bit off way more than I could chew with this one. I'm going back to basics for the next one for two reasons - a) to get a real sense of my progress since the first one and b) because I actually need another solid giggable bass!

  41. This is a stunning Musicman Sting Ray bass circa 1995. It has the three EQ system. It weighs 4.6kgs and comes with a Hiscox case. It’s got a gorgeous neck and ringing tone - great for all types of music but particularly good for funk. The figuring on the maple neck is particularly lovely. Some dings and it had a pro set up and new nut put on prior to me getting it so it’s got a great action. I got it in a trade but I prefer passive basses these days. In terms of trades I’m looking for a US made maple neck, light weight Fender Precision or Precision Hot Rod. I prefer it with the non-original pick guard off and I’ve also got a white pick guard for it. UK only.
