Did anyone see the documentary on BBC Two last night. 2 hours of pure gold - at least up to the Quintet. Amazing quantity of good archive film and a great story of his life and loves. And the music was excellent, the double bass sound, particularly Paul Chambers, superb. Get it on catchup; you won’t be disappointed.6 points

I have setts in my garden and could see them every night if I chose to. I get somewhat complacent about it tbh. Bloody things dig my plants up if they are of a mind to. The latest game is to make their communal latrines in the middle of my borders. But to see baby badgers frolicking about is something rather special and I have adjusted my mindset re damage accordingly. I now consider it to be a small price to pay5 points

I’ll have to dig my ‘fat valve amp’ settings out for you, you’ll be surprised how this amp can deliver that punch. It’s all in the clever DSP!5 points

Fender Mustang Bass 1975 Cool old Fender Mustang Bass in Mocha finish. Pots and serial say it's a '75. There are no further dating stamps applied on body or neck, but the year should be about right. This mocha finish really looks great as it is transparant, so you see the nice wood grains. The bass is not fully original. There is a Lollar replacement pickup fitted in an aged pearl pickguard. I got this bass with the period correct pickguard (replacement?), but as you can see it looks great with an aged pearl pg now. A thumbrest with screws is also included. As you can see from the pictures the bass has been used well. It has a lot of battle scars, and a finish crack on the frontside. No structural damage though. The neck is straight and adjustable, with pretty good frets. All hardware and electronics work like they should. The Mustang is a cool little bass that plays and sounds great. I love the sound with the fender flats that are fitted now, which are a good midway for a modern/vintage sound. Bunch of pictures: I was looking for a good Mustang for a while, to use as my main bass in a pop-rock formation. How much as I love the sound, it appears that my fretting hand doesn't enjoy it that much for some reason. A battered old non-original case is included for protection during transport. Price: €1.265 fixed. This is what I spent on this bass, and I´d like to get that back. The bass can be tried and picked up in the Netherlands, but I am willing to ship within the EU/UK at buyers risk and expense.4 points

I'll see what I can cook up for you later! The settings will be for my own bass which is far removed from passive pickups, but I might grab my P bass over and create something too if I have time I love this amp. @Bergantino Audio knocked it out of the park with the original version but the amount of software updates you can load on since are just superb. I also love that if you do an update and don't like it, you can just revert back to the previous version you did like without interrupting progress! - That said, I am yet to do that as every update has been a very positive one.4 points

Took a Sire V3 5 string in as a trade for an amp a couple of weeks ago. Basically as new, however the preamp had seemingly taken a knock in transit and a couple of caps had broken off. ”No bother” I thought, the bass sounded great in passive mode, so I set about removing the preamp, and wiring the bass fully passive with series/parallel switching on push/pull pot. Not my neatest work, but it sounds great! And while the knobs are just place-holders until I can find a matching set that fits, a few people have mentioned that they actually like them haha...I’m not sure: Si4 points

Bloke that sold me an old jazz bass I moved on for a few quid ..... Said he was shutting the shop for a few days to go down to London for Reggie ( or Ronnie , can't remember ) krays funeral as they were old mates etc etc. When he reopened I said I watched the funeral on the telly but hadn't spotted him. He said to keep it to myself but he never went to the funeral because he had a thing going with Barbara Windsor and spent the two days shagging her !!! It's not that I care about his bull - it's that he must think I'm daft enough to believe him !4 points

OK, time for a long overdue update… I can report that the Fiebings black leather dye is blacker than a black hole and I would recommend it over other brands that I've tested, which all had some degree of show-through resulting in a dark brown colour A couple of coats was all that it needed, even one coat was very black, with no show-through Once dry it showed up my poor sanding – lots of tiny scratches across the grain etc – I've sanded it now from 300 through to 1200 and arrived at this driftwood appearance – it's quite appealing and now I've got used to it, but will almost certainly go again with the black, possibly grain-filling with pewter rub'n'buff. One thing about the driftwood look that I like is that when I inevitably smack it on the edge of a drum kit I won't be too bothered as the ding won't show in the same way as on a pristine black finish. The Haussel pickups are looking the part – single coil at the neck – a mini-switch will be fitted to allow a few pickup blend options.4 points

Hi folks G&L SB-1 from 1991. Has some nice wear to it - but all cleaned up and with incredible low action. Neck is dead straight and truss rod works well. Currently wearing Labella flats (760FX) but will also come with a set of D'addario Cobalt Flats which have been on for 10 minutes. Beautiful sounding P bass - the MFD pickup jus sings and the tone control can take you from vintage thump to snappy sizzle. When I bought it the shielding was poor so it's been fully reshielded and a new jack installed so it's now quiet as a mouse. Collection only from York or nearby (can deliver to a reasonable distance of halfway point). No case but can include a brand new Fusion Urban Gig Bag (black) for an extra £120. Any questions please let me know - there's a clip of it here (played with Cobalt Flats) Cheers ped https://soundcloud.com/chris-hiscocks/cams-jam3 points

Right, my brief review of the EHB1005MS - Seafoam Green. Caveat - I am no Ibanez aficionado and I am not really familiar with the Ibanez preamps so might not have been able to get the most of this bass. Firstly, if you like modern basses these things very cool. Nicely finished the flat green is really bright and i liked it. It is also very light, like stupidly. I checked and there were no rattles or anything loose on this specific one. Set everything flat and started to play, sounded decent enough. The neck is very flat and super easy to play. You adjust to the multiscale thing almost instantly and the curves on the body fit me just right. The shop had set up this bass a bit and the G string was noticeable lower than the others so there were one or two of the frets where it just started to bottom out and become a bit buzzy but not sure whether this was the same issue mentioned in the previous review Set balance to the front pickup. Nice and full sounding and got some good tones then the bridge pickup.... Oh dear. Not sure what was going here, as I said the G string was lower and closer to the pickup but the balance was all off. The D and G were so quiet but the pickup was set completely level and I know that could be tweaked but I wasn't really impressed. Fiddled about with the controls a bit but since I wasn't quite familiar I struggled to get a tone I was happy with. I've asked them to give me a call when they get the 1505 in so I can compare the Barts and Nords and see how different they are. For comparison I tried the only other 5 they had, an SR305E and found it far easier to get multiple tones I liked from the PowerPan pickups but that is of course personal preference. Let me know if any of this ramble has helped or is just nonsense 😁3 points

A few proper photos! I took these just after the bass arrived, so it's still got D'Addario XL roundwounds on. Very clever flipping truss rod cover - no screws to take out, no risk of losing unsecured press-down caps or similar. (It's still necessary to loosen the A string to use the hex key properly, however.) The following is to refer to a conversation we had on one of @tvickey's NBD threads some time ago. This is, indeed, how D'Addario - and possibly also Warwick - new string sets come installed. No longer do we have the familiar purple ball end on the low B. The end of the world is here. Having said that, I replaced the rounds with Labella Low Tension Flats, and now my OCD is no longer screaming at the wrong colours or indeed at the weird assortment of angles the ball ends lie at in their sockets!! The new strings, a slight truss rod tweak, and proper intonation have made this bass even more awesome than it was on arrival. I'm happy.3 points

I did coming back from weymouth on friday as it was very dark with poor visibility on a place with quite a few badgers. We do too - we even have a facebook page for them (started as hedgehogs but they all dissapeared). We have cameras out to watch them - absolutely love the badgers and put up with a bit of damage for it, because what the hell, they were there first. As you say, when the babies turn up it is amazing. Probably can't see this outside of facebook:3 points

We gigged last night in a local pub. Decent crowd too. We did take the precaution of ensuring the band mascot Bob was suitably protected.3 points

From what (little) we know about the virus growth, appears futile that anywhere would push dates back a few months. I guess it keeps the booking ‘live’ - but if the guitar show isn’t happening in March, you’d assume it’s definitely not happening in June.. The stress for the self employed is immense. My business is already losing money, but I have the benefit of sick pay and I’m able to WFH easily. My wife’s mother is a single, self employed hairdresser - she can’t pay the bills without work. We’ve told her we’ll cover any lost work to try and keep her sane - but this loss, and the stress it brings with it - will be played out across the country / world. The economic situation will eclipse the 2008 crash - but regardless of how big business fares, we have to hope / pray that the govt intervenes to take some pressure off individuals (mortgages , utilities etc ). Emergency measures never considered before will need to be created for the self employed.3 points

Anaconda Crusher CES4 Bass Guitar This is a pristine 2018 example of the genre, and was a (rather pricey) impulse buy if I'm strictly honest. The bass is in immaculate condition, mostly because I, unforgivably, don't play it often enough and when I do it's at home. Weight is just under 4kgs (8lbs 12oz in old money). I don't think this variant is available any more but similar Anacondas basses will set you back the best part of £3k. I should say the bass is immensely tactile and the neck is insanely nice to play. Spec: · Body: 1-piece Alder with Wenge top, oil finished · Neck: Maple 34” scale, oil-finished · Fingerboard Roasted Birdseye Maple · Headstock Matching Wenge · Construction Bolt-on (5 bolts) · Pickups: Bartolini BC4CBC · Electronics: Passive V/B/T, coil switch for each p/up single coil / parallel / series · Hardware: Hipshot Ultralite tuners and Hipshot bridge · Case: Lightweight styrofoam If you have any questions at all, or require additional pictures of any details please ask away and I give as comprehensive an answer as I am able. I would prefer to arrange some kind of delivery/collection/meet up if at all possible. I'm pretty flexible and willing to travel a bit if necessary. Courier would be the last resort and will be at cost to you. Trades-wise happy to consider most flavours. Only consideration other than that is the weight of the bass, this would need to be less than 4.0kgs please. Cash either was depending upon the exact bass in question. Some website blurb ahead of the pics: In 2013 Andrew Taylor-Cummings decided the world was lacking bass guitars that were centred around tone, tone and more tone. To fill this vacuum Anaconda Basses was born with and the bass world quickly embraced “the monsters of tone” their own mission statement, (yes a bass builder with a mission statement) is “to give more bass players access to hand-crafted professional instruments which deliver “Monster Tone”. Here are some pics. I can take more of any details you would like to see:2 points

PRICE REDUCED to £550 Here’s a cracking bass which has been shamefully underused in the past 5 years, hence the sale. It’s a Bassline Buster Classic, made in Germany in 1996. Bassline are a small, custom bass company based in Germany. The new price of this would’ve been circa £1600. A few years ago I contacted Bassline directly who were ace to give me the following wood specs: Body european ash, hardmaple neck, and a padouk fingerboard It has LeFay pickups and a Noll 2-band EQ with controls for Volume (push/pull for passive mode), Bass, Treble and Pickup Pan. Nut Width is 38mm and there’s a ‘Zero’ fret. It also has Neutrik locking jack socket and Schaller strap locks (with 2 positions at the bridge end to quickly jump between heights which conveniently also makes it stable resting on the floor). It’s in ace condition, although I’d note there’s a tiny indent on the scoop up to the fingerboard past the 24th fret and few marks on the lower horn and body edge where I knocked the bass over after posting this ad (see photos in comments). All minor and character adding in my opinion - like us all it’s lived! Playability wise, it has he slimmest, fastest neck I’ve ever encountered. It’s also super lightweight (3.7kg) so along with the fast neck you can keep going for hours. I don’t have a gig bag but the bass will be shipped very securely in a Fender cardboard bass box, within hand-carved polystyrene protection. Any questions or you’d like a test drive, feel free to pop me a message! Tim2 points

Something out, something new, a trade. She's feeling at home already. Had the real deal at one point a 76 in the same config, this one is not a boat anchor and sounds and plays nicely. The previous owner put in some FV 63 pups and had some fretwork done. Do you know what it is yet? I'm not a fan of Sig models normally, but decided to trade in a bass I wasn't using much. Time will tell.2 points

Barefaced One 10 - absolutely splendid! I picked one up in the 20%-off pre-Christmas feeding frenzy and have used it on a couple of gigs and open mics. I paired it with my Demeter head for Saturday night's country gig in a lively-sounding village hall (with no stage). Every note from my '73 Precision came out solid and clear - a real joy to play.2 points

Full house last night for us, as the previous weekend, with little sign of gig-going people buying the media's scaremongering. (Don't get me wrong, I know we need to be careful, but I for one believe that shutting or crippling pubs, restaurants et al would screw up the economy but NOT help the health point of view one single bit.)2 points

The year was 2006. Or 2007. I was young IT worker sent to Leicester to work for a no longer in existence bank. One of our colleagues organised a night out to a luxurious nightspot. So luxurious the clientele were treated to questioning by the Police on the way in and then a queue to go through airport style security before a semi strip search, to which they looked at a young terrified bunch of professionals and scoffed "don't bother" to save us having to remove our coats to be searched for knives and guns. Needless to say once inside this club on a midweek night we stuck out like sore thumbs, and not just because we were the only people not wearing clothing emblazoned with G-STAR RAW. The only other white faces in there were the very people Ali G had been mocking for years earlier, obviously not up to speed on the joke, or girls grinding themselves into the wannabe, or very real, gangsters swarming the place. Then they took to the stage. N-Dubz. If I hadn't been in fear for my life with all the security procedures on the way in and the looks and shoves I had received all night so far I'd have whizzed myself laughing. I thought it was a joke. A year or so later and they're releasing singles, "dappy" makes TV appearances and "Tulisa" becomes an X Factor judge and Internet sex tape star. Yes. I was there.2 points

It's also worth checking that none of the pedals in a paralell loop invert phase. This should be immediately obvious upon listening, but it's worth checking before any pedal purchases designed for loop use. I was stung once. Never again. Extremely helpful thread here.... https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/list-the-pedals-that-invert-phase.796444/2 points

It’s a keeper. I love it. It’s very different to my Mesa m6 but in a good way. Obviously not as Fat sounding with no valves but it’s very versatile. Band loved it. Complimented for cutting through the mix by a guy watching us from another band. It’s tiny and powerful. What’s not to like. mill get to grips with all the features soon enough! 😃👍🏻2 points

Mine was a 40th birthday party of someone the singer knows. Decent gig, tho the inevitable “drunk people dancing and falling over into the singer and breaking his mic stand” scenario by the end of it. Its all tuned down a half step, which I’m realising doesn’t sound too good on a short scale mustang so I used my spare Yamaha all night instead which was far more feisty. It was my second gig with my recently acquired BF Big Twin 2 cab, which sounds very different from my regular Schroeder, so I was quite preoccupied by trying to listen carefully to my sound to be honest. Had a cool drive home thru the countryside tho, spotting various barn owls and rabbits dashing about.2 points
