Here is the link to this very Alembic Spoiler specs : http://alembic.com/club/messages/394/67053.html?1282867280 And here, a link to a video demo make by the crazy adorable Johnny LONG : The bass has been fully set up professionally by Christophe LEDUC. It has a new battery and is fitted with a brand new set of Alembic CX-3/45L compression wound nickel steel alloy strings (45 - 65 - 80 - 105), which really fit the bass to perfection. What you see is what you get ! Look at the pictures taken under different angles to see the real condition : almost in new condition with some very few scratches, the most "important" ones being on the lower side on the edge near the electronics. Don't hesitate to ask for more.11 points

So the final piece of the collection arrived today, Fender Deluxe Precision, P/J configuration, active/passive. Had wanted a P/J in my fave black/black/maple but when I saw this one in pretty much my equal fave of white/black/rosewood it just had to be. Plays and sounds like a dream - am leaving it on passive as it just sounds so good like that.8 points

I own an Epiphone Phantomatic, like this one. I'd done a few mods, Dunlop Straploks and updated the machines to Sperzel Locking. Really didn't like the stock pickups - tonally too muchy - so swapped these out and after a couple of ins and outs I settled for a pair of Warman HBAP90s (humbucker sized P90s). I know Josi and these were stupid cheap, something like £40 a pair, if that. I suspect that at some point I'll pick up a MusicMan St Vincent HH:6 points

Very bored so used up some bits laying about the house. Freebie paulownia body, seller claimed to be in London and gave 5 day delivery time. I got a refund after 4 weeks of excuses. Turned up from China the next day. G4M neck bought from here £18 Entwistle PBXN. £10 from here, came in 2 halves with no covers or wire. Varitone pot. From spares drawer,£2.50 to build inc caps. Rest from spares box. Black ink and poor attempt at silver grain fill £10 Murder to get a decent photo. Very pleased with the action. Test fit showed it needed a shim, got it bang on 1st attempt 👍 6lbs and £30 all in 😎5 points

only thin stringed guitar I own. My main lowenders are Modulus basses so a graphite neck guitar is a no brainer. 😄4 points

This is my main guitar - A Gibson SG special. It's got a limited edition blue/teal flip-flop finish that changes colour depending on the angle it's looked at. Swapped the bridge pickup for a bare-knuckle nail bomb and never got round to putting a P-90 in the neck. Also have a Yamaha les-paul type guitar (AES620), an epiphone SG (first electric) and an epiphone acoustic (first guitar) but none of them love with me cos I have a tiny house with tiny children and nowhere to put them safely....4 points

Only 6 string electric guitars I've got at home right now are ones I made for myself (when I get bored, I inevitably start another bass or guitar build!! The guitars are all bare wood builds - including the basses. I spray the Nitrocellulose lacquer finishes on the bodies, and necks, here at home)4 points

Well, I decided to take the plunge and get this....and.....it's f****n great. I love Boss pedals, always have, love their little footprint & design. I've been after a decent Synth pedal for a good while. Had a dalliance with the Future Impact & the EHX Bass Mono Synth and for me this SY-1 pisses over both of them. Don't want to diss the F1, will diss that heap of junk which is the EHX, but this thing tracks better than any I've ever used. The downside is the limitation of sounds over the F1, if the F1 tracked anywhere near as good as this then that would be the obvious choice, it of course may be down to the sounds that the F1 has over the SY-1 that may be the tracking situ, don't know, but the SY-1 has some very, very workable sounds. For me, my target sounds have always been 80's pop, think of all the great synth bass sounds their have been Whitney Houston, Gary Numan, Chaka Khan to name countless others, I haven't delved into emulating Night Shift by The Commodores yet but that's up soon. This wee boyo can handle your Muse type indulgences too, along with more modernistic & experimental tones. So I'd recommend it for those who are looking at this avenue, I'd guess that if it sells well then in a couple of years you'll see a new stomp box with a few more varied sounds and that all important 5-10 preset scenario.3 points

Lovin' the guitars in this thread so here's my current crop. (yep, don't forget Guitarchat!) Yamaha Pacifica 604 (as good as any Strat!) Not that I have anything against Strats.... And I absolutely love my Tele... (no beauty shots of this as yet). Chappell C-101 Classical (bought new 40 years ago)... Tanglewood dreadnought acoustic. High action, so open-tuned, nice for slide guitar.3 points

Just received this from PMT. A quick review, as theres only so much you can do when all your neighbours are at home.... and i need to ask some advice. Firstly the item was clearance, but presumably new - as it didnt say anything else. The box was obviously an opened box, re taped, but well packed. On inspection theres a few Mark's on the tolex, the vu doesnt light up yellow, and a valve looks to be askew - can any advise if this is acceptable? They're only small things, but a bit of a disappointment when you spend a fortune. The sound though is absolutely fantastic! Gees - that's real warmth and response. Just what I wanted. The eq section seems to do a lot too (contrary to reports). Fairly easy to lift due to the strong side handles and not that heavy. I'll carry on testing!2 points

I can't remember who posted it but there was a post from somebody who'd "forgotten" that they had an Alembic in the loft...an Alembic FFS!!2 points

I have a fernandes apb-90, it was my first 'proper' bass, purchased in Holland in the early 1990's.. wonderful instrument, superb slim neck and it never let me down at the time. I didn't really realise how well made it is for quite a while....2 points

I very rarely, if ever, just listen to music. I play CDs and computer files of music all the time, but I always have to reach for the nearest bass and try to play along. So I enjoyed a few minutes of playing along to Caravan, I can't think how many decades have passed since I last did that!2 points

As some of you may know, I don't work for them, but I do a bit of show/demo work with MSL. I'm no retail expert, but I was asked for some of my input on the website. Its not been advertised yet, but there's a 20% discount coupon code which works on any string orders, and only £2.99 shipping for orders under £50 (free shipping thereafter). I don't think I'll get a slap from them sharing it here, hope its OK with BC too! Try this: STRINGS20!2 points

Nothing fancy or bass cab-related, but this is my tiny Ikea hack: An Ikea shelf designed for hanging on a wall, and some legs designed for a cabinet. Perfect size and height for my video and studio monitors.2 points

Measure from the ball end to the start of the silk. Then cut some off the silk end. Then measure from the ball end again to the start of the silk. It will not have changed at all. When you install them they will change because different gauge strings stretch at slightly different rates. You got lucky with your existing set. Nothing more than that. You could go through 100 sets and never get them lined up again. I have to say though, I've been playing 30 years and I've never heard of anyone be worried about it, and I have terrible OCD!2 points

I have a HB Tele with a similar finish - I think they're a couple of hundred quid new..2 points

As I'm sure most of you could predict, being obsessed with ACG basses, the only guitars I own are from the same source. These are both "pre-Reiver", ACG's proper guitar brand, hence the ACG branding. I acquired an ACG Skelf Prototype from Alan at ACG a several years back, which is magnificent, really solid, as beautifully made as all his basses. It's a solid beast, with a sycamore body with a maple cap finished in 'Nessie green burst', maple/wenge neck and rosewood board. Here's a too many pics, but keep reading, I've got something REALLY special to follow... OK, so this one is an ACG Tchib and it's amazing, a real super strat. Super light, and super fast playing, swamp ash body with exquisite quilted maple top, flamed maple/wenge neck with a wenge fingerboard, and the whole thing finished in a rich rich purple. I love the Skelf guitar, and it's perfect for a 'workman like' guitarist like myself, but I had always longed for something a little bit lighter and faster. The Tchib is it! I think of the Skelf like a bit of a Les Paul/SG type chugger and the Tchib like a Jackson or ESP type beast. As amazing as these guitars are, it doesn't stop me coveting some of Alan's newer creations though... Apologies for the number of pictures, but hopefully if you got this far down the post you enjoyed them. Cheers, Eude2 points

RD-8 arrived on Friday, and I took it out of the box this afternoon. My god, this thing is as much fun as legally possible with £200! After about 30 mins, the kids arrived .... ",....whats THAT??? "... they took over and I didn't get a look in. Looking forward to recreating all the 80's soul classics with this one.1 point
