Due to some rather large vehicle maintenance bills on the horizon I need to raise some funds P.D.Q. so with a heavy heart I'm putting my Yamaha up for sale. Apart from the couple of dinks pictured it's in excellent shape for a 36 year old. Electrics are fine, no issues anywhere else. The bass comes with a good gig bag and can be posted as I have a suitable box and plenty of packaging. UK ONLY. Price includes UK postage. No trade offers thanks.5 points

Started again, at 9.00pm Last night. (Friday) Just got in. Resaurant/bar gig, outside, about half as many as we usually pull in there so punters being hesitant. Went down well, got fed, got paid. Not back to normal, but it's a start.5 points

Status Kingbass MK2 headed.... 19mm Spacing and Blue LED’s (Mint Condition) A Special one this not only because it’s a phenomenal example of this instrument in perfect condition but it’s a rare 19mm string spacing. Have you ever picked up a Kingbass and loved the looks, feel and tone but found it really cramped and tight string spacing ? I have... ! That’s because Mark King prefers 16.5mm spacing and probably at least 99% of his signature Status Basses made by status have this spacing which for anyone coming from Fender / Musicman or almost any other bass can be a difficult adjustment..... The Kingbass MK2 is unmistakably Status in tone but because of the bigger body (similar to Alembic) and Jazz pickups has a more versatile and rounded tone suitable for any band situation.... this particular example sets up And plays clean at a lower action than any bass I’ve ever had my hands on.... it’s acoustic tone is massive with sustain for days.... you can hear the bigger fundamental in there from the bigger body and the flexibility of the circuit allows you to dial in anything you need..... My favourite tone is a slight bias to the bridge pickup with a touch of bass.... barks, bites and growls like nothing you’ve heard !! LEDs are a gorgeous bright blue ! Only for sale as I want to condense my range of instruments to an active Jazz and an Alembic (when I find the right one) I know I’ll regret selling but hey ho.... I’ve enjoyed owning it immensely. Due to consolidating my instruments I’m not interested in PX (unless it’s an Alembic)4 points

What do folks think the impediment has been to committing to a new routine/practice schedule/learning a new skill? I know having an end goal in sight, usually to meet a performance deadline etc. is a big motivator but for instance the OP mentions learning how to PC edit multi fx. @Al Krow will tell you I’ve been encouraging him/pestering him to just get on with this for years but deep down he’s probably just an amp/cab player. I’d imagine if post Covid all his band members were suddenly self sufficient and you only needed to bring your own gear you’d probably not make any major changes to your gigging set up? I often find that unless I’m learning something for a specific purpose my interest can drop off and since I’ve been working away over these last few months I haven’t had the same ‘down time’ as it were to commit to a new routine. I’ve had lots of mates wanting to commit to something new but they really haven’t been able to sustain it for what ever reason- mainly that they thought that they should do something rather than wanting to do something. What I have been doing... I recently moved to a new flat and as the beach is now 10 mins away I try and get into the water for a swim as often as I can - tides and work permitting, usually 3 times a week. It’s been rather enjoyable (always cold but that’s half the point) and that helps! I had some notion to ‘learn more’ bass related/music related stuff but the ‘reward’ compared to other things I could be doing just doesn’t seem worth it. I think I know my ability is where it is and while I can ‘improve upon it’ I’m unlikely to really gain from the effort down the line. I mean I’m not gonna be joining a West End theatre band any time soon!! I have been adding small incremental changes week to week in other areas and I believe that’s a big part of maintaining consistency. And with that high tide is at 14:24 so I’m away for a dip!4 points

Hi, i've just got this new rig to replace my old Ampeg V4 stack. Weight and size become a problem for me, si i've to downsize a bit! I was sceptical at first but after a few hours of play at home, the sound is now warmer even if it's more modern than the V4. I've still to try it on next monday at rehearsal, to see if the Bf 210 is enough as a one cab solution to play loud with this amp, or if i've to catch a bigger cab like the super twin...4 points

[NOW SOLD, MUCH THANKS] http://www.acguitars.co.uk/project/0172-finn-r-type-fretless-5/ I put the link above to let the pictures do the talking...plus specs. As I’m going in a different direction, I’ve decided to let this one go. In mint condition! Plays like a dream! I spoke to Alan Cringean himself (luthier) and even he says he went in deep with this one and some lucky owner would enjoy immensely. The electronics is the East-UK, Uni-pre as I’m more familiar with this setup and so has a vast variety of tones in the engine! Partial lines and luminay dots on lines on the side. I’ll put a fresh set of strings on and a new 9v battery before collection or shipping (probably Newtones). I’ll add some home pics but the original pics are more professional so have a look at both. Aylesbury collection possible but UK shipping and Hiscox hard case included in the price. Note: this spec would cost approx £3000 (and you would have to wait!) Now....who’s feeling lucky?4 points

Standard Jack Casady Epiphone bass serial 1102210208 - Metallic Gold Very good second hand condition - a lot of guitar for the money and substantial saving over new.! Bought by me off Basschat in 2019 to use as double bass sub. when stage space at a premium. Obviously getting no stage use at present and am selling to acquire up market EUB for same purpose. My use restricted to one gig and some rehearsals/practice. Guitar all working as it should as far as I can tell, no dings, very minor wear to high varnish finish on back. The top strap button was moved by previous owner to the top bout for a better balance. These are gold shaller type strap locks which will be supplied complete. The case is sturdy with one or two scrapes, nicks; ie fulfilling its purpose ! + key. Will send to anywhere on mainland UK at your cost ( courier + insurance) No part ex's please, no silly offers. Welcome to try if you can make it to Plymouth.3 points

Always changing and always evolving! Or in my case, buying back pedals 've already sold because I've realised they were good. Sellers remorse had a terrible thing 😂 Current set up Cali76 CB - I've tried most of them and love this for versatility while still being intuitive to use. It has fantastic natural tone, which just makes you sound better 3 leaf Wonderlove envelope Filter- I'm utilising the loop in this. Effects can be put after the Filter input stage, but before the Filter. This means the dynamics of the filter are preserved. In the Filter loop is the Cog T70 triple Octave - 3 channel octaves with its own loop. Two separated T65 octaves which ive set 1 for a clean smooth octave and another for a synthy octave up sound, utilising the filters. It has a third "sub" channel which has no clean just octave. The filters can get this fairly close to the OC2 sound. The loop on this enables "parallel" octave so any effects used have the octave clean underneath, in this loop I have Crowther Prunes n Custard- very very dynamic and synthy fuzz Malleko Scrutator - Bit crusher/sample rate reducer - this has a built in static low pass/Hi pass filter, which can be used with expression pedal for filter sweeps. Any control can be assigned to the expression creating very funky/electronic sounds In series with the T70 Source Audio Gemini Chorus- 6 different sounds to switch between. Set for chorus/flanger/phaser/envelope phaser/resonator. A smorgasbord of modulatory goodness 😂 3 leaf Enabler - Pre amp/DI/headphone amp - primarily used was A very high quality headphone amp (with aux in) due to lockdown. I used to have one before and used as a pre/DI on large tours/theatre pits and sound engineers always remarked on how good the DI was (not something that happens often with these guys😂) so always wanted one back,as when I was last gigging I used IEM and intended to eventually go ampless. It's great for recording to, a very useful pedal. I've still got a EHX bass big muff nano, not currently on the board, which I'm considering selling,to soften the blow of recent purchases. It's a pedal I've always loved,So may just keep it. The last of my "greatest hits😂" to buy again will be an MXR bass envelope Filter. Great funky little filter, and different enough to The wonderlove, which is better for synth. Cheers for staying awake 😂3 points

Well, It was interesting. After over 100 days playing with myself (settle down at the back) to suddenly be in the maelstrom of noise was a thoroughly schizophrenic affair. On the one hand it was sheer joy to lock in with a drummer, to feel that buzz that goes through the band in the moments when we're all right on it. On the other hand I've got used to hearing what the bass sounds like, to pleasing myself how it sounds - to actually being able to bloody hear it.3 points

I don't wish to hi-jack this thread but as we are "church people" here........ Two church friends were due to be married in April - then the lock-down happened and weddings were stopped. They have not been living together and have been able to keep in touch via technology and 'just bumping into each other in the supermarket'! Today, they were married after getting 48 hours notice. Some of us from church went to wish them well and stand outside the church but as there were only about 20 or so of us we were invited inside to be part of the ceremony. I was not dressed up for a wedding, but then none of us were! The bride and groom were though! There was no music but the vicar made the event very special and the whole thing added a very spiritual dimension to the afternoon. Some people spend thousands on weddings but this intimate marriage really focused the mind. Hopefully, once the Covid stuff has subsided, we can hold a party for them at church. It was a privilege to be a small part of it.3 points

Misty morning, Clouds in the sky, Without warning, the wizard walks by Casting his shadow, weaving his spell Funny clothes, tinkling bell. Now, where to start? If its misty, how do you know if there are clouds in the sky. But lets assume its a light mist and you can see the clouds. If its cloudy, you don't generally cast a shadow. Even so, if the wizard is carrying a tinkling bell you might think he isn't arriving without warning.3 points

I am having a clearout, so putting up a few basses tonight. This is an odd one, this is my 'wrongo', it is like an ali-express copy of a musicman bongo, but not really a copy, more a parody, by someone who has never actually seen a real bongo. I actually had to ask them to not put the proper bongo logos on it, although if they had, who knows where they would have been. So, its basswood, probably, its quite light. Has a thickish deep neck, so more musicman, but reasonably narrow spacing. The dimensions are all wrong, and when I got it, it went through batteries - although see those two 9v battery covers? One of them has nothing behind it! Turns out the bit that turns power off, the stereo jack socket, well , they had also gone for a 3 pin socket but it wasn't actually stereo so the battery was on permanently. That is now fixed with a new socket and is now functional. If you look at the detail, pretty well everything is wrong. The markers on the side don't even line up. That is all the bad, but in its defence, it actually plays very well, has a nice action and sounds pretty good. Presumably more by luck than judgement. I have even gigged it where someone actually asked me if it was a bongo. I mean, imagine someone in a pub audience noticing the bass and then knowing what a bongo was? And then being wrong It is actually a nice bass to play and it lived in my office as a sort of bash around bass. As such it has got a couple of scars on its actually not bad matte black silky surface. But, I need to reduce numbers and get rid of things, so it has to go. So here it is, can pick it up from my house for £125, or I can deliver or meet in a socially distanced way somewhere not to far (would be good for a drive), or I could probably ship it - can't cost too much as it isn't worth much so insurance isn't an issue.. Not going down below £125 because that is hardly worth the effort and I had to work on it. Can always hang on to it and sell it off at the SW bass bash when that happens. Don't want to trade as I am cutting down, although if there is something worth 125 that isn't a bass or amplifier related, I am all ears. Thing of beauty? I scratched it here on the side Look how well those line up. The machine heads aren't the best I have used, but it doesn't go out of tune. Two battery compartments - go on, which one is the real one, are you feeling lucky? Not too bad really Look at the masterful way the strings all bend slightly to the left. OK, so the pickguard was chewed away from the plastic by a small child and the fret side dots were applied by dats from a distance, but those frets aren't bad and the pickups work2 points

PRICE DROP: £550 £475. I have dropped the price to meet demand! I am selling my Warwick Dolpin Pro II as I am just not using this, plus my wife has been made redundant. This historic bass deserves someone else to play it as it's great! There's very few of these around, from what I can tell. Very few in the UK anyway. The story behind these basses is that they were made by Warwick in Germany when Warwick was still small (before 2000). Warwick was too small to make them in great quantities so subcontracted to another company, which made items with bad necks and was selling these "out the back door" and thereby giving Warwick a bad name. So they eventually shut them down and moved production to Japan. This is one of the few that actually came from Germany, from what I can tell - 300 originally made I think? Unlike post-2000 Warwicks, this has a fairly thin neck. It has Just-A-Nut I on it (brass) where each string has an adjustable saddle to sit in on the nut. This is from 1990 so a super early one. Someone has done a bit of mix-and-match with the colour of the knobs (gold/black), tuners and bridge but I think it looks alright. Although the labelling has worn off the pickups, this has MEC pickups in it and a two-band EQ. Unlike some others, this DOES NOT have a passive toggle on the volume control so is active only all the time (9v battery at the back). This looks to have been bashed around before I owned it (perhaps it fell off a stand due to its awkward shape) so has spots of damage on the edge and a ding on the body that someone has filled. I've tried to photograph these as best I can, but it is nearly 30 years old, remember. Pictures and a demo video are available here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1BNQtEDbgzp42jifoiISAjXjr3M3pUwrp Any questions please ask. I am just outside Worcester, Worcestershire and would prefer not to ship this as I have no case for it (didn't go outside the house) and I have no cardboard to package it. I am happy to drive up/down the M5 a bit if this helps you for travel purposes. If you feel this is priced too high, please make an offer. Cash or Bank Transfer please, ideally bank transfer when we meet. POLITE NOTICE: I've had timewasters on other sites like Gumtree and those that think this bass should be 20p or free due to it not being a Streamer / Fodera / a thru-neck / not made of titanium / more than they want to pay. I've had quite a few daft requests and people believing I should be giving this away because it doesn't quite fit with their hazy dream of an ideal bass, eg. it's not a thru-neck... I've had people not show up when they said they'd buy it and all sorts of clowns and jokers. Let's leave them at the circus!2 points

Sold Looking to sell on my KK Baby Bass. The tone is incredible from this thing and is such a joy to play, it's actually what got me into upright bass. With the small turn of a screw at the back you can go from low down action like a fretless electric up to high up blister heaven tone zone. The bass benefits from the newer model of bridge, and a tonal palette that can be sculpted on board from a tone knob and two screws on either side of the bridge to dial in tones from the classic Ampeg Baby Bass latin tone, to a more acoustic sound, or a more dub like thump. Strung with Thomastik Spirocore strings and includes a soft case and rather robust stand the bass can live on. Great shape overall, two small flakes of paint missing which I've documented in the photos. Ideally looking for cash, but would consider a trade for a Rivoli/EB-2 style bass or a Moollon Jazz V. Not a postage friendly instrument, but welcome to come try either at mine (TW20 0TJ) or at my studio in Battersea. Cheers, -Noah2 points

Reduced to £600 My modular Orange revolution continues, hence, the Berg has to go to fund this. No trades, please. I can’t ship, due to size/weight/worry/lack of box, but will meet halfway within reason, or further for a fuel contribution. It’s in VGC bar a tiny dink on the rear RHS as per the photo, works perfectly, and sounds terrific. I’ve cribbed the tech spec from @Dood’s ad - hope that’s okay, sir, and here it is: From one of the finest bass cabinet designers of the 21st Century comes a new range of lightweight cabinets using cutting edge Neodymium speaker technology coupled with advanced lightweight cabinet design. Using only the highest grade lightweight void free Baltic birch and precision built custom drivers, this new range of cabinets from Bergantino Audio are already another hugely popular addition from this established company. The Bergantino Audio Systems ‘Carbon Neo’ CN series of lightweight speaker cabinets nod their head to the traditional HD series but have a different function. These are the lightest speaker cabinets that we make. The precision tuned cabinet architecture and the enclosures are built with the finest lightweight Italian poplar plywood (with Baltic birch baffle boards) selected to our specifications. This lightweight cabinet material (along with the lightweight magnet material) helps reduce the overall cabinet weight. The lightweight carbon covering is used for cabinet cover material and is also lighter than the traditional tolex covering found on most speaker cabinets. A rigid black grille is added to protect the drivers from damage. The internal components used are extremely high quality and they are of Bergantino design. No ‘off-the-shelf’ parts are used. Woofers with Neodymium magnet material are used for the low frequency section of the CN series cabinets. The Neodymium drivers have a punchier low-end and a very sweet midrange that is placed a little more forward in the sound field when compared to the HD series. Fretless and upright players will often prefer the CN cabinets because of how the midrange ‘speaks’ with their instruments. The CN series cabinets have a high intelligibility tweeter mated to the woofers through a custom designed phase-coherent crossover with a tweeter control. Because of the increased cost of the Neodymium magnet material, imported wood for the cabinetry and the unique covering material, the CN series speakers cost more than the HD series, but may just be the right match for your playing style and weight needs. Model CN212 specifications: •2 x 12" Custom Neodymium drivers with 7 oz magnets •high intelligibility 1" tweeter •custom phase - coherent crossover with tweeter level control •Precision tuned 100% Baltic Birch cabinet •power handling - 700 watts rms frequency response: tbc •sensitivity: tbc db @ 1 Watt/1 meter •2 x 1/4" and 2 x neutrik connectors •impedance: 4 ohms •dimensions: 31"H x 18-1/2"W x 15"D •79cm x 46cm x 38cm •weight: 46lbs/20 Kgs2 points

DB Elbee 1210 Bass Cab 4ohm Ultra Light 12&10. 600w. Fantastic bass cab for the bass player who needs performance in a lightweight, compact package. Firstly this is a 4ohm cab. Which means you get the full output of your amp. It contains a 10" and a 12" faital pro speaker. The 12" is angled downwards for great low end, whilst the 10" cleverly is angled upwards at your ears which is ideal on stage - the sound is where you can hear it, not at the back of your legs. Its a tiny, yet very solid and well balanced cab - it wont feel it can topple like other lightweight cabs can etc. It has 2 side handles which make carrying very easy. Oh, and the whole cab is just 14kg!! Ive shown a photo with a small class d head (not included in the sale) to give you an idea of size. Official spec here. Impedance: 4 Ohms Speakers: 1x10” & 1x12” Bass Port: Bottom Power: 600W RMS Sensitivity: (1W/1m) 99 dB Frequency Range: 50 - 5000 Hz Input: Speakon Link: Speakon (for connecting an extra cabinet) Height: 53.8 cm - 21.18” Width: 34.4 cm - 13.54” Depth: 45.0 cm - 17.71” Weight: 14.6 kg - 32.2 lbs Selling only due to lockdown restrictions on our business - otherwise I'd be keeping it. I could get a lot more for it - rrp is £600. But, in the spirit of basschat and as I was given the tip off on here, I will sell for what I got it for £295. Pick up Leyland, Lancashire. Or can post at cost. Bass Guitar Magazine Reviews here: https://www.db-bass.com/bgm-review2 points

Just did a bit of a comparison of my Boss octaves. I’d say there’s more difference when playing them live (on a loop here to keep it consistent), but the older Japanese models are pretty much the same, slight change in the tone for the Taiwanese, and the less said about the OC-3 the better...2 points

Once you've bought bass it is yours to do exactly what you want to it. No one can tell what you 'should' or 'shouldn't' do it. I have a lovely Sandberg bass I bought in January but hardly ever play, if I decided to give it a viking funeral floating down the Windrush as it was consumed by flames, it's my prerogative. Bit of a waste of the best part of 2 grand, but it's my money to waste if I want to (Not that I wouldn want to add more cr*ap to our already polluted local river, of course. Just adding that in case anyone thinks I'm looking for the petrol and matches as I type! I'd take it a mile or so downstream to where the Windrush meets the Thames and cast it adrift there 😝 )2 points

I would say get a proper router - unless there is an absolute minty one, don’t buy second hand, you just don’t know what some fool has done with motors etc and abusing it. I did go more expensive, but I felt it suited me and is pretty good for free hand routing as well, remember for any cordless you have to factor in batteries! If you have other cordless tools and there is a common system that can sway what you want. i went for this Bosch Professional GKF 12 V-8... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076LXH113?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share May be teaching folks to suck eggs but please please drill out with a normal bit or a Firsch Forstner bit as much wood as possible and just use the router to make it purty. Give it too much to do it spits out and jams tip for drilling depth - but of masking tape around the drill bit at the requisite depth if you don’t have a drill press with a depth limiter And it’s great fun!2 points

Me too. But the Strat looks wrong ... and sounds flabbily awful through the Cornell he's been using. It's like you're expecting a close shave with a cut-throat razor and the barber rubs a handful of lard over your face and says 'That'll be sixteen pounds, Sir. Anything for the weekend?'2 points

Did a little bit of work on this today. I've thicknessed the piece of wood @Rich gave me (from a window frame if believe) but it wasn't quite wide enough for the headstock so I needed to glue and additional piece on. The wood itself would be long enough to make a couple of necks but there are a couple of splits in it I needed to avoid so I'll only end up with one but that's fine - still nice to be able to recycle this. I squared the two faces that need to be joined, glued and clamped. Once this had set I roughly sanded the front face and marked out the neck. Next task will be the truss rod.2 points
