Hi everybody Up for sale my beloved BB3000 A. Made in Japan 1983 , she have seen a lot and played more. As you can see in the pictures there are a lot of marks and a big one on the bottom that was hard. Some superficial cracking but it does not affect the integrity or the sound of the instrument. Electronics has been replaced with a set of Flametone P/J ( 400€ installed by Alessandro himself in Milan ) controls are Vol/Vol/Tone/Tone and a miniswitch put you in P territory ( probably one of the best P sound I've ever heard IMO ). Tuners were replaced with brand new BB30000 original tuner which I've found by a collector in Italie. The original pups, controls and preamp are also included. Cleaned and tested by Mr. Flametone. Ebony fretboard , frets are fine , trussrod working like a swiss watch and a very straight neck. One of the best neck I've ever put my hands on , fast and sleek a slapper paradise. The girl was played a lot and she hass seen tons of stages , the marks are there , in the pictures . Need a detail just let me know ! Shipped with an ordinary gigbag in a tank proof box. I will accept a trade with a very light Mensinger Joker B 32" 5 Strings or a NOBLE PREAMP DI Partial trade possible with : FAIRFIELD THE ACCOUNTANT CIOKS DC7 Becos Stella Comp Empress Bass Comp 3leaf Audio PWNZOR Darkglass Luminal Source audio C4 Source Audio Hub5 points

I can't imagine "You're so vain" being about a bass player. I don't know if she ever wrote a song called "You're so modest (you probably think this song is about the lead guitarist)"5 points

Time to shift another bass that’s not getting enough use. The build quality of this is phenomenal. Great neck with Ebony fingerboard that is soooo dark! It’s in superb condition, a small paint chip (circled) is the worst of it. A thumb rest has been added which can be removed but will leave two screw holes. It’s been modded with a John East preamp that contains vol, pickup pan, bass, treble, mid, mid freq and separate piezo blend, piezo tone, Active / passive switch. 33.75” scale 19mm string spacing EDIT - Now includes Hiscox Liteflite hard case (not the one pictured). £975 > Now £950 delivered in the UK.4 points

I have refinished my Spector and while at it I moved the controls to the back. The sliders do what the pots did, vol, vol, bass, treble. This was my gigging bass for a long time, I never touched the controls on the bass but got annoyed when they were accidentaly turned when getting it out from the gigbag etc. So I thought it was a great idea and it was since I never regretted. Love the clean look of the front also love when it takes a while for peolple to realize what's missing 🙂 Also the sliders are sticking out of the plate just enought so you can move but never with your body or leg or whatever it is getting in contact with in the heat of the gig 🙂4 points

Due to the Covid-19 situation and severe back problems (66% officially disabled because of it) plus right shoulder injury (non-operable capsulitis from which, after more than 3 years, I will never fully recover), I'm selling all my basses over 4 kilos and also the ones I'm not really using. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. GROSMANN 5 FF Custom Order, top of the range model with a 2 pieces body in wenge and alder, 2019, 34 to 36 inches fanned frets. NO TRADES ! Asking price including shipping fully insured with tracking number to your place in these European countries (ask for other countries) : Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (excluding French overseas departments and territories), Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom : £777 GBP !!! (new price was £1599 GBP...) In fully working condition, fully original and in very good lightly used condition, almost new, except some very small blemishes (see below). Here are the specifications : Body : bass side in wenge and treble side in alder for better sound balance Top : book matched flamed maple Neck : bolt-on (with inserts) one piece hard rock maple Fingerboard : wenge (flat radius) Frets : 24 (no wear at all) Headstock : 3 + 2 shape with a string retainer Pickups : 2 x Delano JC 5 HE/M2-AS (AS is for longer pickups) Preamp : Delano Sonar 2 Controls : volume (push-pull active/passive), blend, bass, treble Tuners : Schaller BM Bridges : 5 x ABM mono rails Strings spacing at bridge : 20 mm Nut : Graph Tech Strings spacing at nut : 9 mm Knobs : soft grip rubber Scale : fanned frets 34 to 36 inches Hardware colour : black Truss rod : one double action fully working with 2 carbon rods in the neck Finish : high gloss black burst with some very slight shades of purple on the front and headstock (not as strong as on the photos and depending on the light too), high gloss black on the back and matte finish on the back of the neck Land of craftsmanship : Romania Serial number : none (custom order) Year : 2019 Weight : 4.625 kilos Action : from 1.5 mm under the G string to 2 mm under the B string at 12th position (can go lower, but was perfect for me) Will come with a Music Store well padded gig bag (the only one I have which is big enough for this bass). Non-smoking environment as usual. The bass has been fully set up professionally. It has been fitted with a brand new set of specially designed for fanned frets basses Dingwall Nickel Plated Steel round wound strings (45 - 55 - 80 - 100 - 130). I wanted to try a fanned frets bass, but as a fretless player, I'm bit "lost", so my loss is your gain. The bass is very powerful with roaring low mids (thanks to the wenge) and the combination of the full Delano design (dead silent), with the lutherie and the Dingwall strings gives a really punchy, clear and full sound whatever way you turn the EQ knobs. Link to the Delano pickups : https://www.delano.de/jc_5_he_m2/jc_5_he_m2_details.html Link to the Delano preamp : https://www.delano.de/electronics/sonar_2/sonar2_details.html Link to the Dingwall strings : https://lordofthestrings.com/fr/basse/electric/5-string/dingwall-lb5np-5-string-longscale.html Link to the Bass Direct page with a lower range model : https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Grosmann_5_FF_Amber.html What you see is what you get ! Look at the photos taken under different angles to see the very good lightly used condition (almost new) of this bass, except for 3 points at the back, some surface scratches on the front and back (hard to capture) and other very small blemishes around the output jack. Don't hesitate to ask for more.3 points

Sold my Status in a mad panic as the Mrs’ car is making funny noises. It’d been a close second to my sadowsky and I bought it in a mad rush because it was drop dead gorgeous and local... Anyhow, I wanted to have funds in just in case it’s not a simple fix. It’s booked in for the weekend so should be sorted fairly cheaply. Yesterday I Sold a (non working) vintage watch to a man across the street (he mentioned in passing he liked watches the other week and sent him pics and entered into negotiations). I had sorted my amp situation so wanted to move my Ashdown rig on. Got a mailshot from Local PMT the other week that they were doing a sale on “pre loved” gear in store. Messaged them to see if they still had a natural Spector LX i’d spotted last month in stock. ”It’s still here, but it’s red, not natural...” I went down to see what they were on about. Love at first sight is nonsense...NOT. Jeez. Agreed on price, and then did the “Ive got a p/x can you look at it...” the guy at PMT I’ve known for years (probably 20+) and he’s the manager, great bloke. Did a decent P/X value. And for the price of the watch and a bit more...I was leaving without my old amp and owning a Euro LX.3 points

Kinda cheating because I'm on drums for this - I've been learning it on bass but it's too fast! I think our bassist did a cracking job though and hope you enjoy, rest in peace Rocco!! What Is Hip by Tower of Power covered by my big band3 points

I love this bass but I'm mainly playing 6 strings now so don't really have much use for it. It's a fantastic short scale bass, capable of some real growly tones I've never been able to get out of my fenders. Stock you get a single humbucker with volume and tone. The volume controls a coil tap/split (I forget which one) that effectively scoops the midrange giving a more modern tone. I did a few things to the bass myself to make it play and sound even better: 1. Upgraded the bridge to a Babicz 2. Added an arm rest as I found that the lack of forearm contouring was pretty uncomfortable without it. Really comfortable now. 3. Added a Push-push tone bypass to the tone knob. By bypassing the tone control, you get a touch more top end. 4. Thumbrest added. It will be well packaged and sent with a decent courier, not Hermes. Price includes UK mainland postage excluding highlands and islands. Payment via paypal friends and family/Gift preferred.3 points

I'm a pretty easy going chap and strings not aligning correctly over pickup poles, tuners pointing in all directions, silks of different lengths, etc don't bother me at all. However, when I'm gigging (or even watching a band), if the stage area is messy, it makes my OCD jangle like Peter Parker's SpideySense. Trailing cables, plastic carrier bags on stage, drinks on amps/combos, wonky backdrops, mic leads pulled so tight they'd make a sound like a banjo if you plucked them...ooohhh, I can feel the palpitations coming on just thinking about 'em. So carry on playing your scratchplate-less Jazz bass with irregular string spacing through a mismatched head and cabs - but for the love of Jeebus, pick that bloody carrier bag up!3 points

Hi all, Dan Markee here, Dave’s grandson. I’ve been googling for some information on his remaining bases. Sadly for collectors they’re staying in the family but will be used as he wasn’t the only musician... it’s in the blood! We have his Henry Mancini ‘Pink Panther’ Upright Bass, his original Musicman I believe from the late 70’s, a ‘62 Jazz that was used on most Clapton recordings and a ‘63 P bass that he used on pretty much everything else. Grandad, Dave, passed away on Thursday 29th October at home with his daughters after a long journey with ill health. Its been lovely seeing you all speak so highly of his playing, thank you! He was an incredible man who loved deeply and I have never seen someone play with such passion! love and respect Dan Markee3 points

And who buy boutique effect pedals that are also clones of pedals originally invented and produced by someone else. But I guess it's not morally depraved to copy other peoples work as long as you ask more for it than the price of the originals, seemingly in fact quite on the contrary, since apparently not only being a thief but also ripping people off with your handler goods deserves praise. Shame on you though if you sell your copies too cheap.3 points

Nothing bothers me particularly but I am not keen on seeing the ends of strings wobbling about dangerously, rather poked down into the middle of the tuners.3 points
-
Don't know if it qualifies with your definition, and it happens more on other instruments than bass.......... but it's when people leave a clip-on tuner on the headstock during a performance.3 points

The Paul Carrack / How Long thread, (a song about how the bass player has been tomming around with another band) got me thinking... What other songs are about specific bass players? (Not generic bass players. That's boring.) I can think of: You Make Loving Fun - Fleetwood Mac How Do You Sleep? - John Lennon Clyde - JJ Cale Blue Murder - Alan Hull Any others?2 points

Hi all, a good friend of mine had been suffering with a bit of depression and so to cheer him up I’ve bought him a guitar and all the kit. Normally, I’d visit and give him lessons, but obviously that’s not possible. Can anyone recommend any simple and effective YouTube channels or free resources I could recommend to him? If he can play an Oasis song or a Beatles track it would mean the world to him.2 points

Held off for a while on this, had to wait for some bits to arrive. So I’ve used Ashdown exclusively for years, probably since about 2009 - previously I’d used Trace Elliot and then SWR. I still love Ashdown, think they’re a great company and make some unbelievable stuff. Literally just fancied a change. Initially started looking for a 410 - I Miss that air that a big fat deep cab moves. I found @bigthumb was selling an EBS proline 410 and as he’s local, jumped at it. Then I set about looking for a head. I always fancied a fafner II or TD650 as they look brilliant. The fact that I don’t have huge amounts of cash was a deciding factor...but there was loads of conflicting opinions on the 650 vs the 350 ve the Reidmar. Cue a discussion with resident expert @EBS_freak who was really gracious and helpful. He reminded me that @Dood was selling a Reidmar 750. A day or so later...here we are. Very, Very (VERY) loud. Super clean - but will investigate the settings more at rehearsal as my neighbours are all poorly with Covid19 and I don’t want to disturb them too much. Enjoying it so far.2 points

FFS... fancied a blue amp jewel (the “on” light) as EBS seems to use blue in a lot of their stuff. bought a blue jewel. arrived...put it on. The light on the reidmar it’s a yellow LED in there...makes the blue jewel shine yellow 😂😂😂2 points

I don't own any black leads, for that very reason - grubbing around on my hands and knees in the pitch blackness of some god-forsaken "music venue" looking for a black lead in an ugly tangle of black leads got really old, really quickly. I now have a lovely collection of leads in colours so eye searing, a primary school student would think they were "a little outré." But the best part is; now I use a wireless dealio, to the casual observer, I am the dictionary definition of rugged masculinity, while safely gaffa taped to the floor, my rainbow hued cabling screams new millennium, gender fluidity. Sorry, what was the thread about, again?2 points

So, I was a teen newbie bass player in the 80’s. Like many a young bassist of the era, I played a Westone at some point - a Thunder 1A in my case. Always had fond memories, so when this Thunder 3 came up for sale locally, I just had to have it. It was in a sorry state (it is 35 years old) - grimy fretboard, broken off screw on the battery cover & worst of all, & no sound from the front pick up, but I could see potential. I was told it had been in a case for most of its life & judging by the minimal fret wear, I can believe that. With a bit of elbow grease from me, the skills of my local guitar shop (Kempsters), & Armstrong pickups, it is now fully functioning and a most welcome addition to my little collection. Sounds epic through modern amplification and the neck is a joy - low action & perfectly set frets make it a breeze to play. Yes, first fret feels a reach & it is weighty at 10.3lbs, but overall it’s superb. Very happy.2 points

I thought this one was about our OCD being triggered by things that are not quite right - but trivial and/or possibly fixable - as opposed to what we don't like in a bass?2 points

I expect this is fairly common - I don't read and never really got on with tab. I listen to the song several times without going anywhere near my bass, just to pick up the structure. Then I dissect it with the bass and figure out out to play it on the neck - best positions etc. Then I just listen to the song as much as possible, over and over again, imagining how I play each note as the song plays out. I haven't found any shortcuts, just keep listening.2 points

@Bonzo I’ve got a new set of rounds that came off my us jazz that you can have for free if you want, they were too bright for me and I only use flats, so they are just sitting in the draw 🙂2 points
