Fender Nate Mendel Signature P Bass Price £875 no trades Fender Nate Mendel P bass. So pretty much everyone knows about these, amazing basses and even better for the money. Quarter Pounder pick ups, Badass II bridge and only 3.85kg so pretty damn light for a swamp ash body. Obviously road worn and someone before me overtightened the neck plate leaving a dent which made neck plate look bent. I’ve popped a plastic neck plate thing underneath and looks fine. To be honest it wasn’t bad and does not effect anything but worth mentioning. I didn’t notice until pointed out and I’ve gigged the thing. Comes with original candy, Fender plate and Fender gig bag. Collect Hexham or I can meet somewhere in North East. Courier an option too with my epic man with a van dude.6 points

Mark is excellent. Moves a fair amount of expensive basses, amps etc and he’s super reliable! If he stays over - hotels etc he takes them in the room with him. Can’t recommend enough4 points

Really enjoying the Rudeboy programme on at the moment, some great tunes taking me back to my teens at the local youth club. We had Jamaican neighbours at my parents brand new bungalow when I started senior school, Joe and Anna and their six children, lovely people, they actually got my mum into reggae, she had a lot of singles on the Trojan label in our radiogram cabinet.4 points

Now £300 I've been using this awesome head for home practice and it's way overkill. I've replaced it with a Fender Rumble 200 and even that is excessive. I did run it a couple of times with 2 8ohm cabs for band practice (loud rock) and it coped well. What can I say? The reputation of these heads is in my opinion well deserved. 350 RMS watts at 4 ohms and it will run 2 ohms. It has a real body and depth in its tone as has a compressor and drive onboard too. Weight is 9 kg (20lbs) so not a big deal and it comes with a gig bag as shown in the photos. I can courier but collection or meeting up half way is preferred. I have good feedback going back many years. Can be viewed and tried out in Kendal. I've also got a EBS Fafner available that will be advertised in due course.3 points

OK so I fell out with my Canadian Dingwall ABZ,although it is undoubtedly a thing of beauty & plays sublimely well I just can't get it to sound how I'd like it in the band. Since I realised I was trying to make it sound like a P bass (which it isn't) I made up my mind I actually needed a P bass. After much research & browsing I didn't want a Fender as they are massively over priced,then spotted the Vintage Modern basses on Bass Direct. Contacted Mark & sorted a good trade deal out for this little beauty. It is a sublime P bass,sounds ace,build quality is spot on & it has a gorgeous roasted maple neck too. So I've gone full circle once again & ended up on a P bass. You'd think I'd learn 😁3 points

L-R 2002ish Fender Japan Pink Paisley modded with T-bird pickups, 1966 Fender Jazz, 1965 Meazzi Hollywood Jupiter, 1964 Maton Ibis, 1964 Epiphone Embassy Deluxe, 1964 Gibson Thunderbird (Ashdown Little Stubby prototype - bought here on BC, Dynacord Bass-King, Trace Elliot ELF 2x8 cabs - have the head, too), Padalka Ennea Corvus, Padalka Ennea HGGS 5 string multi-scale. Have gigged them all - with the exception on the Maton (yet) as it was a pandemic acquisition.3 points

Signed up Wednesday (£30) Contacted Thursday and asked for a list of at least 3 pedals I want in order of preference (sent back 8 😂). I’ve attached the list of what’s on offer, some frankly incredible stuff on there. Pedal dispatched same day but not told which one it was from my list. Arrived Saturday, comes with a prepaid postage label back. For those who don’t know, this is a £400 pedal, based on a Neve channel strip. On the other hand, sorry, but I didn't learn anything and to be frank, the title should be "The *ss licking documentary". The assertion that comes back all the time saying "no one can play like Jaco" is so stupid. Never heard of Michel Hatzigeorgiou who plays Jaco better than Jaco and who has transcribed all Jaco's music... Hatzi also played for years with Toots Thielemans who has been ignored in this documentary. Maybe worth asking Hatzi (as he lived with Jaco for a few horrible weeks and simply run away) or Michael Manring who Jaco really was... I love a lot of his work, for sure, but this kind of documentary is really useless and soooooooo incomplete. Won't make friends, I know, but it's not the point.2 points

This is mine. It's been tricky squeezing everything into a small flat, which is why the amp is on its side. I suppose I could simplify it a bit, but with the mic into one channel of the JS10 and audio out from the laptop into the other leaves nowhere to plug in the bass. Being able to record straight off Spotify or YouTube and use the speed control and looper is a big help.2 points

When I tried to test how loud it goes in the local pub during soundcheck, the bar personel ran out ears covered and screaming. That little stack is just insane. And the Hexa sounds MASSIVE without any compression or whatever. Bass -> instrument lead -> Amp is all you need. The amp has this warm but tight sound I can't seem to find anywhere else. I sold my Mesa Prodigy because of this amp it got outclassed bigtime.2 points

Bass arived by DHL... Had a quick look over, then... Squeaky Phospher Bronze Stings off, masking tape along the back of the bridge to reduce the chance of scratches. noted that the ball ends had been filed down a bit both sides to reduce the width and to tuck under the back of the bridge when flat to the body, string spacing is 19mm Headstock shown on the website looks to have a veneer front, Mine isn't, and i think the better for it, simple and less chance of glue edge. Cheap tuners are surprisingly smooth, although alignment seems a little out, mainly when viewed from the back, seems some being 90 deg to the tapered headstock edge, some more 90 deg Hoz. No biggie, maybe a little wringle room slackening front nut and single rear screw [Edit: Sorted] Logo and Initials looks nice... black plastic triangle TRC didnt.. Got a more curvasious Rosewood-ish TRC from the bay and stained it black. Fretboard is listed as 'Roseacer,' a thermaly treated form of mapel, and looks a lot darker than the website, again for the better, almost ebony black, but rosewood type grain, felt dry so had a lemon oiling (don't start!) 'Snowflake' inlays are so neatly done (I think they maybe painted on to be that neat) Neck is Mahogony 42mm @ nut, 60mm @ 16th / body join, and quite a consistant depth along the length, 20-21mm @ 1st, 24-25 @ 12th... Frets were smooth, ends and binding all good, Gave the frets a quick Duraglit and buff. Gave the laurels a rub with some fine wet/dry, particularly around the soundhole edges and just to remove any glue residue and grease. Six coats or so, every now and again with Morells Black Wood Stain (little tester pot of the bay is more than enough) was still looking dry and purple-ish... 2 light coats of danish oil to seal, smooth and satin, almost matches the fretboard. Out with the dremel to grind each side of the ball ends of the Adagio flats (masking tape around the silk)... a bit of a faff but worth the time as they are prolly gonna live on there for ever. Body finish, edge binding, back join is all good, although as Gloss Black is gonna be polish swirl and fingermarked from now on! (mmm... Should I of stuck to the Natural finish version!) All strung up, neck relief is good at 'paper business card' at 7 and 9, haven't had to touch the truss rod after fitting the flats. Action is 4mm E and 3mm G, maybe a little high but OKish for an Acoustic i think? I'll check under the bridge and piezo element for any shims... that would be simple and handy way of dropping the action a mm or so across all 4 strings... [Edit: Removed the shim (1.6mm) Action now 3mm / 2.5mm - Sorted!] Nut is gonna need a look at with the slots widening [This is new to me and something i have never done before so i'll search and raise a help thread] for the E and A... Didn't check too closely with the original strings before taking them off, listed as 40-100 and mic'ed up at 42/62/80/95 - The Adagio flats are listed as 45/65/85/100 and mic'ed up at 44/63/77/99 Found some round needle files, just need to work out how... [Edit: Now sorted] Sound is nice and balanced and well... 'acoustic-ey'... Haven't tried it plugged in, perhaps i should of before doing all the above? Just in case of any piezo or pre-amp issues (Built in tuner is handy) although it is very unlikely i'll be using it plugged in, It's gonna be more of a 'Corner-Noodler' All-in-all, I'm quite impressed with the guitar and very happy with the outcome of the above... What do you recon? I can now also join in on the 'Show Us Your Harly Benton' and again on the 'Black Guitar' Threads...2 points

Like this. Funny the dislike for rap. Much of it seems to claim it isn't music/musical. Personally I think a lot of rap producers use the music element very cleverly. Even if it use of samples this still requires musical knowledge and skill. I did have to look up what Hip Hop is as opposed to rap. Glad I did.2 points

where I work, we have used DPD for a number of years. I don't think we've ever had a lost parcel with them.I have also shipped guitars and amps all over europe with no problem, using DPD. But since Brexit, we only use DHL, who are pretty rubbish to be honest and I won't be shipping any personal stuff now Still use DPD for uk shipping though and they are ok for that2 points

I bought a Precision Elite a couple of years ago. It was a really nice bass and very well put together but I just didn't bond with it. I changed strings to a standard gauge set of Rotosound Swing bass, from the original Fender strings, and I still wasn't sure about it. But then I put a set of Elixir 45/65/80/100 and the bass came to life. The strings sounded better and the lighter gauge allowed me to play more fluidly. This is not the first time a change of strings has brought a bass to life for me. Sometimes that's all it takes, to change a dud to a player..2 points

Well that got cancelled last week, so now I can come to the ball - with as much certainty as you can have at the moment, having just been Test and Traced into 10 days isolation this morning. Ooh yes, yes, yes. I’ve used a variety of Trace heads through various BF cabs and they’ve all sounded immense. The oldest head is a MKIV AH250 but the combination I’ve used most is an AH250 SMX with a Super 12 and then later a Super Twin. Great sound and dispersion but I’ve now moved on to the BF tens in the form of a Four10 and Two10. I prefer the coloured sound of the tens as it’s nearer the sound I have in my head. Haven’t been able to use these in anger over the past 2/3 years, but I’m very much looking forward to it when the time comes.1 point

It only took a quick Google to find this quote by John Paul Jones in an old issue of Guitar World "This riff is rather tricky-sounding, as it's built from a repeated phrase that is four-and-a-half beats long.
