Spector forte helium 4 string bass for sale. Made in Woodstock USA 2014 very good used condition . Complete with original Spector case. EMG 9 volt active pickups and aguilar obp2 preamp Spec- Weight 8.1 lbs At the winter NAMM 2014 Spector © debuted the first of its Helium™ Series, NS™ and Forte™ basses. These instruments utilise a unique combination of woods to achieve a great sounding bass with low weight. The top of this neck thru body instruments wings are carved from quarter sawn sycamore obtained from salvaged logs of trees which have blown down in our local forests near Woodstock NY. The back of the body wings is reclaimed redwood that was originally harvested in California between 75 and 100 years ago and used for the construction of water tanks which are sited on top of office buildings in NYC. They have been filled with the purest NYC drinking water for all those years which continuously permeates the redwood. This soaking with the water helps to wash out all of the sugar in the cells of the wood so that it dries more completely and in a similar way to the method used traditionally for curing violin wood in Europe. The final Helium™ element is a Spector © locking bridge made of aluminium with brass saddles. The instruments possess a full warm bottom end with a unique bloom to the attack of the notes. This construction is available in our USA NS Neck-Thru Series™ in our GrayBurst color in either matte or gloss finish, and also in our USA Forte Series™ basses in our trans black stain matte finish. I didn't need a new bass...no-one ever needs a new bass...but well, sometimes stuff just happens in life, innit...?! So, a while ago @Useless amateurfires up for sale, a @KiOgonloom loaded Olympic White P-Bass body, with all chrome hardware fitted. In the same thread, a comment's made along the lines of... "Oh, that'd go lovely with the Status neck that's also up for sale!" Right there and then, I've went full Partridge.... "AHH-HAAAA" And the project was born. Switch / upgrade the chrome to black Hipshot Bridge, Thumb Rest, Ultralight Tuners, throw in a set of Delano's, fire on some DR Black Beauties, and et voilà. Of course, it didn't actually dawn on me for one second until it was completed, what I was actually putting together was my very own Duff PJ, minus the J...! Anyway, I present "The Substitutes" P-Bass, complete with engraved band logo neck plate. My 2nd, and last, project bass.9 points

So very close now... I've installed the metal saddles on to my bridge and they work brilliantly so that's that sorted, I've made some knobs from ash and wenge, but I'm unsure if I'm keeping them or replacing them with black ones to keep a small black hardware theme going. I re-did the nut too as the old one was too small, this one works and fits perfectly, At some point this weekend I'll get the bass setup and work on the frets and then I'll aim to get some form of video done so you can see and hear it 97% done I think?8 points

Hi everyone - I don't know why I haven't joined before now. I'm an American, living in Seattle, but years ago I lived in Yorkshire for a little while. I loved it, and didn't want to leave, but life circumstances kind of forced me back across the pond. I started playing very young, about 30 years ago, and have played primarily fretless for most of that time. I'm about to get back into fretted playing though, for a bit of a change and to brush up on some solo chordal and tapping pieces I've written that I've been too lazy to try perfecting on fretless. My main bass right now is a purple fretless PJ parts bass with a Squier body, Warmoth neck, and DiMarzio Model PJ pickups that I put together early in 2020, right after the pandemic really hit. I also have a beat-up 1986 Pedulla Buzz that a previous owner stripped the finish from, including the headstock logo (but the atrocities visited upon the poor instrument resulted in me being able to afford it, so there's that). My main amp is a TC Electronic RH450 into one or two Schroeder Mini 12+ L cabinets. I also have an EA Doubler head, and a Bergantino AE410 cabinet with weird white "tribal-ish" paint all over it (but the atrocities visited upon the poor ... etc). Anyway, I'm happy to be here. I've visited and lurked a number of times, but finally decided to take the plunge and join. Cheers!6 points

So as promised some progress on the model I mentioned. Due to the heat an inability to sleep I found the time to get some work done on the prototype. This is for a very specific setup which none of my current line up covers. So what we are looking at here is a small bodied short scale (30.5) heavily chambered piezo only bass. Primarily done as a fretless but would be possible as a fretted bass as well. Piezo will feed an East P-Retro which has been modified in order for the passive element to work with the piezo. Pleased with the results so far but very early days. Templates and the first actual body in Swamp Ash.6 points

I got the answers back from Laney: 1. Is the 500 head a class A/B or class D output stage? "The DB500H uses a Class D output stage". 2. Does the head have a valve tube inside for the preamp or is it emulated? "The pre amp is an emulated tube sound". 3. What is the correct weight of the vertical 4x10? Is it 32kg? "The DBV410 weighs 32.7 Kg".6 points

SOLD Pedulla Pentabuzz in aqua/turquoise burst Really in two minds about this, but just not getting played. For me the best fretless basses out there and since the retirement of Mr Pedulla and the closure of the workshop they are becoming a little scarce. Beautiful to play with a fantastic range of tones, if you’re after ultimate mwah then this is it. Stunning finish changing from blue to green depending on the light. Sadly she is just not being played and is rather too valuable to be sitting in her hard case. Due to the current situation with shipping and crazy costs this is a UK sale only, sorry. Comes with a non Pedulla hard case. Purchased from Bass Direct by myself and as their photos are better than mine and she is still in the same lovely condition, just one or two surface marks as expected for a 21 year old, but fairly negligible to eyeI Happy to field any pertinent questions. Please use private message as often these sales become personal opinion threads. Weight is 4.1kg according to my scales. Happy to courier fully tracked and with suitable bomb proof packing. (Courier cost included in price) 4A flame maple body, turquoise trans finish, maple through neck, ebony polyester finish fingerboard. NECK: Capillary (neck-through), 3 piece maple laminate SCALE LENGTH: 34 inches FINGERBOARD: Ebony NUMBER OF FRETS: 24/24 inlaid white markers, (plus finish on the fretless Buzz fingerboard) INLAY: Mother of Pearl, 5mm dots NUT: Bone TRUSS ROD: Single rod, double-acting adjustable with two stiffening bars HARDWARE COLOR: Gold BRIDGE: Custom gold, 19mm spacing MACHINE HEADS: M.V. Slotted both necks for the carbon rods and the truss rods. I used a couple of equal sized spacers on the router guide to give me the three different distanced from the neck edge - just adding or taking out spacers makes it easy and repeatable to cut the slots. The spacers are just two equal thickness pieces of ply. Quite pleased how these have gone so far. I've not got any basses with carbon neck rods and I've never built one with them so I'll be interested to see if I notice any difference in the end. Next job is to drill the hole for the truss rod adjuster.5 points

***No longer for sale. Keeping it*** edit: I have unexpectedly come across the certificate of authenticity, owners manual etc while sorting through things after my house move. Pics attached. 1996 G&L L-5500 bass with G&L hard case. Ash body with quartersawn maple neck with graphite reinforcement and rosewood fingerboard. G&L saddle lock bridge and G&L tuners. This model was produced in small numbers in the mid 90s while G&L were getting their 5 string MFD pups ready for the L-2500 and was the model which corrected a lot of the shortcomings of the previous L-5000 (narrow nut width and tight string spacing) This bass has EMG dual coil pickups (iirc EMG40 DC )and EMG BTC active circuit with 2 band EQ. This pickup/preamp gives the bass a very clear sound which suits a wide variety of genres. The plastic on the knobs is starting to perish slightly in places and the pots could do with a quick spray of electrical contact cleaner. Condition wise, there is tarnishing on the neck plate as pictured, there is some buckle rash and some crazing in the finish on the back of the bass though front is very clean apart from a couple of areas which have slightly dulled when viewed from certain angles. Overall in very good condition for a bass now a quarter of a century old. A peculiar oddity is that at some point the pan pot has been changed to be the wrong way round. Not sure of the thinking behind this but like the Sadowsky way of wiring the blend control, I guess it’s retraining your brain into thinking that turning it on full clockwise brings on more mids and bite for soloing etc. Anyway it’s illogical imo but I haven’t got round to having it changed. the bass weighs just over 11lbs so fairly substantial as they all were. Bass can be auditioned in Market Drayton, Shropshire or could possibly meet Stoke, Crewe, Telford, Shrewsbury areas or depending where you are. I’ve just used my last shipping box so posting could be a problem at the moment. I’ve got my eyes on something else and if I buy that, chances are I’ll have another shipping box 🙂 thanks for looking Keir NO LONGER FOR SALE4 points

**sorry now withdrawn as I have come to my senses** Valenti #146 by Nino Valenti, NYC, USA. https://www.valentibasses.com This is my second Valenti and I planned on keeping this one. (Always regretted letting the first one go) Only problem is that I now have a lead on my bucket list bass and I need to sell something to get it. Otherwise there’s no way I would even entertain this going. Swamp ash body finished in translucent white finish. Contoured heel and narrow radius chamfer on body edge. Bound maple neck with blocks. Hipshot hardware. Aguilar single coil pickups with Sadowsky preamp with VTC (vintage tone control) for passive tone + active bass and treble. Superb, pro instrument put together by ex Sadowsky employee Nino Valenti. Balance is perfect, very light, great sounding pickups with a studio grade pre amp which sounds classy. Effortless to play. Action can be gotten stupidly low if you want. No structural, electronics or playability issues with the bass. Comes with gig bag. Valenti’s price list now shows a Modern 21 fret J bass price starting at $2800. I believe the bound and blocked neck, trans white finish and Sadowsky pre amp are chargeable upgrades on this base price. Edit: a couple of points of note 1. The pickup covers have hairline cracks in them from being over tightened by previous user. This is purely cosmetic and I will either fit replacement covers or adjust the price slightly. 2. I had the blend pot re wired for normal operation. Full clockwise for neck and full off for bridge. Sadowsky have theirs back to front so that turning it full on gives the bridge pickup and more mids. I couldn’t get on with it like that as it was too illogical so it has been re-wired by my tech back to what my brain can comfortably deal with.4 points

In excellent condition. It's taken me two years to take the plunge on this, as it's easily the better of the two fivers I own, and a perfect fit with my BB2024. The other fiver has needed some fettling so gathered more emotional investment, and to be honest I rarely need to use either of them. As a consequence this has not got a single ding or dent. Of course there are some light surface marks that black guitars acquire if you just look at them in the wrong way. Price includes a near-new condition Yamaha gig bag. If delivery is required I have a Yamaha hard shell case that came with my 2024 that I could be persuaded to part with. I'm travelling north next week, maybe as far as Dundee, and could bring it with me. Any questions? Just ask.4 points

Well, I am going to the Bham show. I have heard mixed opinions about whether or not he has anything worthwhile or interesting to say, but I have always found him to be engaging in interviews and generally able to string a coherent sentence together, which is more than I can say for Tommy Lee 😃 Right now, the prospect of an evening out with friends and a couple of beers is so welcoming, I would probably go to the theatre to watch a wall of paint dry. Which may well end up being a justified comparison, I will update you after the show.4 points

Even quicker would be for me to ban all my bandmates from smoking. I'd save them all time and money, we'd all be much healthier, and - best of all - I'd be making other people do what I want. I'm sure they'd all thank me. No, really ...3 points

I did once. It was a massive shed we were playing in with extension leads coming out of the farm house next to it. Stank of cows and whatever cows produce. Upshot is the electrics were terrible. My Ampeg valve amp kept cutting out. It would be on for about 10 seconds and then off for about ten seconds. I am also the singer so had to carry on with this for the whole first half. There would be bass, then no bass. When we took our break I switched to going direct into the mixer. Then these people started coming up and saying how great we were and could we play at this that and the other. I was gobsmacked! It just goes to show that we put all this time and effort into getting the most amazing sound and when you play in front of drunken party goers, as long as they hear the beat and the vocal they are happy.3 points

Really beautifully crafted basses - fit and finish is just superb. Really well thought-through too. Viv has clearly paid attention to every detail in the design and production of these instruments. Ergonomics are lovely (certainly on the short-scales - I acquired one a few weeks ago) and the range of tones is really surprising for a passive bass: all very useable too. The finishing is undertaken by Bow as far as I'm aware - certainly my favourite of the UK finishing shops (glass-like and again, fantastic attention to detail). GLWTS and I'm surprised that this is still around - Viv's basses appear to be gaining some serious traction in the US market with a number of big names on the user list3 points

Hi all, I'm selling my beautiful Ibanez BTB406QM 6 string. This was made in Korea in 2003 and has the following features: - Quilted maple top/basswood back - 35" maple neck with rosewood fingerboard (dual truss rod) - Large frets - Mono rail II bridge - Weighs in at 5 kg (11 lbs) and balances nicely for a 6 string! - 18mm string spacing At some point the pre-amp was upgraded to a Glockenklang 3 band, with active/passive push/pull and passive tone control. The tone is huge, and very versatile with a solid low B. It is very comfortable to play and has a slim, fast neck. I've recently installed a new Neutrik jack as the old one died, but I disabled the locking mechanism. I'll happily re-enable this if the buyer requests it. The bass is in good condition for it's age, no noticeable fret wear. The hardware has some tarnishing (see pics) which is apparently quite common for Ibanez basses from this era, but it all works as it should. There are also some chips and scratches on the back from a previous owner. It has also been recently restrung with Dunlop Nickels. NOW SOLD Please message me if you have any questions, not looking for trades thanks.2 points

I've now installed a KiOgon loom - went in nice and easy and I really liked the solderless option. I guess I am now one of those "Happy Basschatters" that are enjoying KiOgon's handiwork. I would join you in recommending him. Great to deal with and really quick response. I would copy him in if I could work out how todo the "@" function! Happy days! my crackly pots and dodgy jack are a thing of the past! Thanks to everyone for their sage advice. ☺️2 points

Watched all three episodes of Steve McQueen’s documentary Uprising last night. The recounting of three real intertwined events from 1981 in the UK: the New Cross Fire, which killed 13 young black people; the Black People's Day of Action; and the Brixton riots. With testimony from those who lived these traumatic and turbulent events, the series reveals how they intertwined and defined race relations for a generation. Harrowing stuff but essential viewing.2 points

I love them, they're a little rougher than traditional flats but they feel very supple under the fingers. The flats I have on my P are Labella 760fx which I think are 39-96 and for rounds I use Elixir 40-95 so they're all in my preferred range. I like my strings flexible and super low! I've never tried Labella LTFs I'm afraid They're the brightest flats on earth though, they sound almost like rounds at first but they do mellow a little bit to sound very chunky with plenty of top end which doesn't seem to fade at all. Cheers ped2 points
