Hi folks I've been working on a dark theme today. I've done my best but know I'll have missed something, so feel free to try it out and let me know. Screenshots are helpful if you spot a colour conflict or item which is invisible because it's the same colour as the background. Building a theme is basically trial and error as all the various parts of the site are called completely random things and there's no logical order, so please be patient as I muck about. Dark themes work best on good monitors which are able to distinguish between the tones, so for many of you the best screen might be your mobile. SO try it on that, too. Please add any thoughts here and I'll try to take them all into account, although please bear in mind that not everything is possible to adjust, and I can't please everyone! I'd prefer a three tone sunburst screen with tort icons. Then I'd feel right at home. (though possibly not entirely right in the head)

Black is nice, but have you got anything in Aged Charcoal Frost or Olympic white , or am I pushing my luck 😁

Some basses look better in the dark.

At the risk of repeating myself, there is no v4 planned, so you may be waiting forever. Correct. As detailed in the initial v3 post and in all the documentation. Given that, I wouldn’t expect a massive difference in price between a used v1 and v3. I’d base my pricing on their respective conditions. People will pay what they feel. I haven’t seen one go for under £185, I think. I paid nearly £300 for my used v1 but that was before v3 and the new lower pricing. I’m not bitter as I’ve had plenty of joy and work out of it.

And the bassist was my old school friend Les Hurdle. When I knew him he was getting a great sound out of an EBO with added bridge pickup.

I had the pleasure of playing Carfest north on friday, It was my first gig since lockdown & to see so many people out there enjoying the experience gave me hope for the future. Backstage many still wore masks & there were sanitising stations everywhere.

and 'Supporting Member'. What's all that about? There are plenty of people who think I am a 'member' without BC joining in the abuse. It's ridiculous and sounds like I'm congratulating myself for paying up to advertise. And these STUPID badges are against the whole spirit of BC, where newbies and experienced members could chat without being ranked or being conscious of each other's 'status'. Please get rid. I was surprised to find a lack of a dedicated Epiphone gear thread in this forum so here it is! Makes sense for me as at the moment I'm all Epiphone in the fleet just now. Hi Anyone who has been following @mhoss32 's stunning build... ...will have been as awe-struck as I was with the sheer depth and breadth of inventiveness in the building and equipping of that amazing instrument. It's worth a full re-read of the thread, whether it is for the immensely impressive wood-working, the top-drawer finishing, the designing and making of his own pickups or for the design and manufacture of his own EQ system!!! So you can imagine how happy was I when @mhoss32 approached me to try out his EQ in one of my basses Hmmm...which bass... ....hmmm....all of my own basses are still with Matt Marriott... Why are they with Matt? Well, he has been doing some videos of a number of my builds - electric, acoustic and bass - and what with Covid, etc, still has them. And it includes 'Kert's Camphor Singlecut': ....hmmm...now there's an idea

True badger story Many years ago, I was driving down a lane in Kent that i knew very well, slowed for a corner and saw a lump in the road, i pulled up, in the lights i saw a flicker of an eye in this "lump".. I jump out of the motor and there at my feet a badger, clearly just been hit by a previous car and still just alive.. I had an old blanket in the car so bundled him up in it and put him on the passenger seat.. My plan was to take him to a local stables where i knew them very well, and ask about a vet or whatever, assuming the badger didn't die shortly. Anyway I drive off with my patient, the place was circa 10 mins away..after a few minutes in the warm car, I'm aware of stirring in the seat beside me, seems to be perking up a bit... Good sign anyway, five mins later when nearing my destination, the badger was by now fully conscious and standing up with his front paws on the car door looking out of the window ! Clearly he'd been hit and stunned but otherwise seemed ok on the face of it.. I arrive at the stables and we confer about what to do with him.. We decide to put him in a spare stable overnight with straw bedding and water to drink, and re- appraise in the morning, getting the vet to him if it looks to be necessary. After a bit of a chat i go and watch him for a while in his temporary "accommodation" by this time he's quite lively and trying to climb up the old brick walls of the stable to get out... After a bit more serious conferring we decide he doesn't appear to have suffered any serious injury, and on balance seems the best plan to release him... obviously we'd never have done so if we had any doubts that he had injuries, the lady who owned the stables was very experienced, over decades, with all types of animal so I'd trust her judgement, this was my impression also. It was about 10 pm by now, so I quietly opened the stable door and stood away... Or friend had a bit of a sniff round, then trotted off out of the door and down the big field behind the stables.. He looked absolutely fine with a fairly jaunty swagger as he disappeared into the night. He'd easily be able to back track to where he came from, hopefully going via the farmer's fields rather than the road ! And that's my close encounter with a badger... People say they're savage and will have your fingers off, but this one was happy enough in the car with me it seems, even quite chilled out like a dog or something! I'm sure he was fine, hope he learned a life lesson about roads and traffic for the future.

I screwed up my courage and went searching in the unit's settings and found that – YES! – I can reassign the foot switches' functions. I've turned off clicking two buttons together, and have turned off holding a button down. Now I've just three simple buttons: two to go up / down through the patches, one to go to the tuner. Blissssss.

Not a been churchgoer since I was old enough to not have to sit through school assemblies, but if you were offering regular paid gigs with no drunk audience and a guaranteed 1PM loadout then you can call me the Pope... I love Epiphone basses. My two Rivolis (both in the Classifieds as one needs to go 😩😞 My previously owned archtop basses: I’ve also had an EB0 in the past which was great fun.

I joined Basschat almost nine and a half years ago and am now, according to the new 'improved' system, a 'rookie' with two watts! Look forward to the next ten years, when I might make 'owns a bass' status. "Hard boiled eggs and nuts!"

And so the plan is for me to take out the 2-channel Seymour Duncan EQ and fit @mhoss32 's system and get Matt to do a video with it fitted Two initial challenges were: Challenge 1 Getting it back from Matt Achieved! More than that, before passing it back across, Matt did me a video of the same piece that he will play when the new system's been fitted, as a reference. And here it is back at chez Andyjr1515: Challenge 2 Fitting the 4 knob system into the existing 3 knob control chamber and making it reversible This took a bit of thinking through, some measuring and a fair bit of PM to-and-froing between the two of us. Solution was: - Go V/T/T - Add a blend pot - Fit the above blend pot in a false control cover at the back of the bass Well, got half a chance! That decided, @mhoss32 made up a blend pot loom for me and sent the blend loom, battery loom, volume unit and two tone units on to me while I got on with stripping out the SD EQ from the bass and cutting a temporary control cover:

Agreed, I much prefer them to the cloverleaf. However, as lollipops they taste awful, although they do last a long time.

I am friendly with a guy who plays guitar in an Ozzy tribute band. I went to see them a few years ago and when they started I exclaimed to Mrs Ubit "That IS Ozzy up there!" The guy had the look, voice and most importantly, the mannerisms of Ozzy. They were great. There was a Thin Lizzy tribute on the bill as well who were note perfect but didn't bother trying to look anything like Lizzy. I preferred watching the Ozzy band as they made me smile and looked like they were enjoying themselves onstage. At the end of the day any band playing is entertainment. You pay to be entertained. Playing a thousand notes a minute whilst staring at the floor might do it for some but the whole visual package is what I like.

Mike Batt formed The Wombles Band, and performed on TOTP as Orinoco. The guitarist was none other than renowned session ace Chris Spedding, along with drumming legend Clem Cattini.

I've removed the other themes as they have bugs, including things like dodging paying for a sub. They weren't meant to be there after going live, they were there while we were working things out only. Basschat 2.0 is the only fully compatible theme so it's the only one still in use. As there's no alternatives, the button is now hidden.

Moving production to the UK! Scary stuff. But Very exciting. Meeting with Retrovibe at our premises to plan out new production facilities and workshop.
