They've responded to the message I sent on messenger and are going to check for me. I have aspergers so the phone thing is outwith my control plus I have to avoid confrontational situations for the same reason. The written message is far safer for everyone involved 😬13 points

First rehearsal with a new band. 70’s Disco covers so plenty of notes to get through! Thunder 3 performed superbly well. It drew some very positive comments about looks & sound. Would gig this bass very happily without any second thoughts at all. 🙂7 points

A beautiful example of a fantastic bass. For the full specs have a look here: https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitars/precision-bass/fender-american-elite-precision-bass-3-tone-sunburst Barely played and well looked after, with not even a slight blemish on it. The case has a very small dent on it (which occurred without the bass in it), but otherwise it is immaculate. Genuinely sad to be selling this but after the last 18 months I can't afford to keep it. Whoever buys it will fall in love with it. Would prefer collection, but can organise a courier at cost if necessary. I also travel all over the country for gigs, so let me know if you'd like it and I may be able to sort something.5 points

Selling this as it hasn’t seen much action action since I got my Sadowsky. Price reduced to £500:00. It’s in excellence condition and was originally a rather horrible blue burst colour. It had been stripped and nicely oil finished when I got it. It’s a later model USA made one which I think came just before the Cirrus. Controls are separate volume and blend knobs with stacked pots for treble/bass mid/mid sweep. The mid sweep is brilliant for quick tone changes. Overall it’s in great condition for an early’90s(?) bass. There is a little nick on the back of the neck by the heel and the gold hardware is showing signs of wear and tear. The stacked knobs look newer. I replaced the bass/treble one a few years ago and although everything works fine the mid/sweep one has lost it’s centre detents and will howl if turned up full. Otherwise the electrics are all quiet and the tonal range of this instrument is great. It hasn’t been gigged much. I have the original Peavey hard case, included in sale, but it came pretty battered with damaged corners and lives under the bed. I’ve used another cheap hard case It’s quite a beast; I reckon 10-11lbs, but quite well balanced and comfy on a wide strap and really nice to play, lowish action and nicely finished neck. Prefer not to post but you’re welcome to come and try it, although now I have a big box from Thomann, due to NBD on Wednesday, I'd be happy to courier this in the UK for cost. Specs: Maple body Through neck ebony fretboard pearl markers 34” scale 3 band eq 9v 24 frets 48mm nut string spacing about 18mm.4 points

Congratulations to @Doctor J on his splendid win last month, and as is customary, he has supplied the following image for your inspiration and delight. This picture, I think, lens itself to some interesting ideas , but stay focused .... Usual rules apply. You know the drill: ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and written/recorded this month. ❌ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ❌ Bagpipes. please no bagpipes, summer equinox truce now Expired. panpipes only if you have too. ❌ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you. A line or two offering an insight to your inspiration will be good as well , it works nicely on the voting thread. Deadline wise , we will give a thumbs up to midnight on 'International day of sign languages ' 👍, and yes, yet again, again you probably have till about 19.00 on the 24th, ( the clue given here is that 'International day of sign languages 'is the 23rd). As the challenge is starting on national letter writing day..... Dear sir/madam Please take this as a green light to get busy for this month's challenge Yours incredibly Lurks ( I'm still probably getting these days off a U.S. site , sorry )4 points

Recently got in a trade, amazing instrument, very fun and easy to play. The bass is in stunning conditions and comes with orginal MTD hard case. Over the past few years, i managed to try and get some fancy bass such as Fodera or MTD. Unfortunatly, in the end i find myself more of a traditional fenderish guy So i will let this go to have my AC back, or just in case in trade for an Alleva Coppolo 4 strings MTD 535-24 2007 Quilted maple top (hard to catch the beauty on camera) Walnut body Wood knobs Rosewood fingerboard Maple neck Matching headstock Fairly light 4.0 Kg This bass is really resonant, full and punchy as you will expect from and MTD, compared to others i had the pleasure to try, is a little bit more "traditional" always respecting the MTD staple sound. 2800£ - 3300€ As said, im looking for a straight sale unless you have an Alleva Coppolo 4 strings. Thank you all for your advice, after calling 3 local very reputable guitar shops in Southampton and explaining to them I have been advise that the rockstar package is perfect for a starter that just wants to learn it as a hobby for fun without a view of wanting to join a band or anything like that. Plus,if he's awful at it at least it'll annoy our horrible neighbour 🤣4 points

Can I just add? You are the best for doing this for your guy. He will love it and you can point him on here when he gets the bass and he can get lots of help from like minded souls.4 points

So here's the finished bass! Need to order some card to use as a background and do a proper photoshoot with it at some point, but you get the idea! Took it to my wedding gigs at the weekend and it sounded lovely, cut through the mix properly, settings were all useful too- the bridge pickup is as Jaydee-like as the one in my Vox Standard bass, the neck pickup has the growl of a Fender P, but put it in parallel for the sound of a Mustang, and put the bridge in parallel for a Jazz bass approximation, together in series they're a growly as heck, etc etc... but then I would say it sounded good wouldn't I..? 🤣 (the XLR is actually wired in now, though I don't think I'll ever need it) Overall though I'm pleased that it looks like it's from the era I based it on; even with my ukulele shape I think it carries the vibe of those mad old Matsumoku gems. The oil finish helps- as it's not even and has a bit of an open-pore thing going on it feels like an old bass already, which isn't bad considering I finished it last Thursday! Neck is very skinny and combined with the short scale it's very easy to shred all over it. Looking forward to getting some proper photos and demos sorted! Meantime here's a couple of clips I threw together for instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/CTFmS9jjmCo/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link https://www.instagram.com/p/CTDREcND4gb/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Thanks for reading! -Steve4 points

Be aware that the Rumble 800 HD can output up to 400 watts continuous at 8 ohms. And the 8 ohm Rumble V3 210 cab is rated (on paper) at 700 watts program, and "just" 350 watts continuous. Howsomeever, that rating on paper was when it was newly introduced in 2015 to handle a maximum expected 350 watts continuous, 700 watts program, from the then 1-year-old Rumble 500 head. Since that's all the power handling that was necessary at the time, Fender conservatively left it at that. That is still the published spec.! Flash forward to 2018 and Fender introduces the Rumble Stage 800 combo with their first-ever output of up to 400 watts continuous at 8 ohms, 800 watts cont. at 4 ohms! And what speakers do they put in this powerful combo?? And what extension cab do they propose to take the additional 400 watts cont.?? Why, none other than the exact same wildly popular 2x10" Eminences they've been putting in the Rumble 500 combo & Rumble 210 cab for the previous 3 years. They even make the exact same 210 cab in stealth black cosmetics to match the Stage combo!! Obviously, with that successful field experience, and additional lab testing no doubt, they must be quite confident it can take it! And I, too, believe you will very happy running a Rumble V3 210 under your Rumble 800 HD. 🤗3 points

Over the last four rehearsals with the covers band I've taken along a Fender Flea Jazz, Fender Performer, Squier Jaguar SS and tonight my lowly Westone Thunder. The guitarist came up to me at the end and said "that's a fantastic bass, that's by far the best tone you've had".3 points

As I've said so many times in the past that you are probably all bored of it, if a company doesn't want to communicate via email they shouldn't publish an email address. These days, a voice call unless backed up with some form of written communication, is a terrible way of doing business, because unless you also record every call you make and receive there is no permanent record of what was said.3 points

I would expect that she has looked at what other options there are. Rather like the thread about 'workshy' youngsters we don't know the circumstances and should maybe just answer the question asked without coming over as a bit preachy.3 points

I suspect this was made by a still functioning luthier, Tony Revell in Mid Wales / Shropshire (who is a family friend and has done work on several of my instruments).3 points

Just parking this one here…… if you followed my tandem build thread you will remember I took the Thunderbird pickups out of my Bogart. Tonight I routed the Bogart body to fit a PJ config and made a new pickguard. Just waiting on a new battery box to be delivered and will then add a Noll TCM4XM pre to the Geezer setup. I need this done so I can focus on the Streamer.3 points

Hey guys So.. I’m letting go of my beautiful Wayne Jones Audio rig, I’ll probably massively regret this at some point but bills have to paid. Made in Australia to a very high spec, the cab has gotten a bit of gigging use and so the tolex has a few scuffs but the head is relatively new and I haven’t taken it out of the house yet. The cab pairs beautifully with any recording preamp/DI ive tried it with loads of things (Jule Monique, reddi, U5, UAD610) and they all sounded great and had their own character. The cab is located in Harrow, North West London, collection is preferred as posting cabinets isn’t ever very fun for either party. Bit of a steal at this price but it has to go, if you have any question just ask. NO TRADES PLEASE WJ 2×10 POWERED BASS CABINET = £850 WJB PRE = £450 NOW SOLD2 points

A BC'er very recently twisted my arm and persuaded me to upgrade my Boss WL-20 wireless to a Shure DLXD6 wireless. In terms of pedals for gigging (we play standard pop/rock covers) I've been happily just using my Zoom B1-4 as a 'standalone' micro pedal board since the end of lockdown. But the Shure is a much heftier beast than the WL-20 and it made sense to set it up on a small 'gigging' board with the Zoom B1-4 and a few other pedals and keep the rest on the larger 'creative home use' board. With a bit of pedalboard tetris, I can fit 4 other pedals onto my smaller board together with the B1-4 and the Shure. (Alas, sadly not quite enough space for a Thumpinator hpf underneath, so that will need to remain on the larger board and I'll make do with an hpf effect on the B1-4). But it got me thinking - which of my pedals would I really want/like to use for gigging? Proved to be quite an interesting and useful exercise! My starting point is these two boards and a recently acquired Tech 21 YYZ: For a bit of fun if you fancy it(!), have a guess which 4 pedals I decided to "save from the fire" besides my Zoom B1-4? Bonus points for working out the signal chain I've used. Please also feel free to share which 5 pedals you would have gone for (no prizes for that - lol!), what order you would put them and why. I'll limit any comments to your personal choices so as not to give the game away! Assuming mods are ok with this - £10 prize (PayPal f&f) for whoever is closest. Closing date : Sunday 12th.2 points

I still have my Westone Spectrum. It gigged with me for many gigs back in the 80's and it's still in my spare room/music room. We just had the bathroom done which explains the dust over everything that I haven't got around to clearing yet2 points

I've got an Aguilar Filter Twin and it's really good. I think I like it so much because it has some "personality", for want of a better term, and also because it seems to have an organic warmth to its sound. Very wel made, too. For me the biggest challenge with a envelope filter is finding a musical context to use it in. It's a bit like drummers in big time rock groups back in the '70s who had a big gong behind them as the crowning glory of their drum kit. How many songs can use a gong on before it starts getting a bit too much? (The answer is "probably no more than one"). Similarly with an envelope filter. The only exception to that I can think of would be Chris Squire using his Mutron to great effect on a few tracks on Tormato. I'm sure there must be others, but I've no idea what they would be!2 points

Not just for the power handling imbalance is it usually a fool's paradise of a stack. Most often the 410 has such a superior sensitivity that when it's on top the 115 is completely inaudible to the player, and barely contributing to the overall output out front either way.2 points

So you did actually use the B string? Not for its intended purpose but that wouldn't be punk anyway.2 points

I’m the same, if someone tells me a bass is 9.5lbs I know how that bass is going to feel for a 3hr practice, but if someone said another bass is 4kg I’d have to convert to lbs. And not just re basses, someone who is 6ft tall and 11 stone I know is going to be rather slim. Tell me they’re 70 or 80kg and I’ve no idea. Similarly tell me a chap is 1.75metres tall, no clues, but 6ft1, a tad taller than me. For anyone thinking I’ve done the math wrong, I’ve just made up numbers.2 points

Are both these cabs 8 ohms? Your Orange amp goes down to 4 ohms. That means both cabs have to be 8 ohms. The 115 is 8 ohms, but the only Eden Nemesis 410 I can find is 4 ohms. If that is correct then your cabs combine to be 2.67ohms and that is a mismatch to the amp. Which might be why it's overheating and cutting out. You can either run the 410 on its own or run the 115 with another 8 ohm cab, or you can buy an amp which goes to 2.67 ohms. ps You won't get 1000 watts out of the Eich. That's rated at 1000 watts bridged into 4 ohms, which might be too much for your 410. It has 2 x 500 watt channels so you might be able to plug each cab into its own channel. But this is just shy of £1200. That's not a financially sensible solution to your problem. There are plenty of amps that go to 2.67 ohms for a lot less than £1200. I'd just get another 8 ohm cab.2 points

Fender Coronado II – CAR – With hard case - Sold Time to thin the collection and a few basses have to go. Fender Coronado II in a stunning candy apple red finish. Presently strung with Tomastic jazz flats so has quite a thumpy sound. Comes with an Epiphone shaped case which fits it perfectly. Made in 2013, weighs in at 9lb 9oz on the bathroom scales. 30” scale so very comfortable to play. Photos show the bass without the pick-guard as I feel it is much better looking like this but can be easily re-fitted as all the screws and bracket are present. The small holes in the body are for the pick-guard so will be covered if re-fitted. Neck is in perfect condition though there are a couple of minor chips on the very top of the headstock which I have attempted to photograph. The mod to the selector switch wiring has also been carried out which gives much better tonal control over the two Fidelitron pick-ups. The photos don’t really convey it but the CAR finish on the bass is truly stunning which is what sold it to me in the first place. Sorry but no trades. Located in south Warwickshire where you are more than welcome to come and try the bass out for yourself. Alternatively I’m prepared to drive up to 40 miles for a meet-up somewhere.2 points

This weekend I played my last two public gigs with the soul band (work and family life pressures mean that the gigging has to stop for a bit ☹️) Sunday the five piece played the New Inn, Amesbury and that was a fun gig. Bit strange being put into a cubby hole corner of the pub but it was probably the best place to set up in the bar. The band played great as usual 😎, seems a shame to leave when we're so slick right now. Early on some young drunk wanted to play drums (is there always a drunk drummer or singer at pub gigs?) Monday night we played the Bridge Inn, Upper Woodford (not far from Sting's lil' country mansion). This was their inaugural weekend of live music in the beautiful setting of the green opposite the pub. This is a rural location next to the river and just tractors, pick up trucks and 4x4s driving past the pub! For this gig we had the horns so there was 8 of us and the band sounds effing awesome once you add brass (plus they are so funny, horn humour!). The night was great, the sound on stage was superb, the crowd were fantastic (we always get people up dancing). I could hear my little Barefaced cab stack so clearly so when my fingers were feeling sore I could reign it in a bit. I'm a player who ' digs in' but with 36 soul and funk tunes to play, that's gonna hurt! One more gig to go but this one was quite emotional for me, last with the horns and Chris on guitar (he's the new bass player but can't play the next gig)... I kept it together well, got a big hug from Dave the drummer, we've been locked together tight on stage since he joined, the perfect drummer for me. Sorry for the long, rambling post but I'm gonna miss playing the best basslines ever with the bestest bunch of musicians I've ever played with 😭2 points
