  3. :SOLD: 1960 Silvertone 1444 dolphin nose Bass All original Single-coil lipstick pickup, 30” short scale neck, A thick Brazilian rosewood 24 fret fingerboard, Semi-hollow Masonite body, Single 4 post Danelectro "Skate Key" Tuning Machines. These are the ones used on higher-end model guitars from 1958 to 1969. They are in good working order. It even has the headstock logo which is very rare! Retro heaven! Superb playing and sounding very usable bass made by Danelectro for Sears department stores USA. I bought this little beauty for a 1950/60`s theatre show that due to all the Covid shite has been abandoned. It`s far too good to sit around so here it is up for grabs to some lucky person. It`s in lovely condition for a 61yr old instrument. There is one small ingenious mod to the bridge that is easily removed, It just keeps the ball ends in nice and snug to the bridge as shown in pics. This really is a must have for anyone playing Rock and Roll or sixties retro music! Although saying that this little cracker can handle any genre (it even slaps). Comes with an old but non original hard case. Open to sensible offers........

  7. Oxygen and the air pressure are always being monitored. In the event of a decompression, an oxygen mask will automatically appear in front of you. To start the flow of oxygen, pull the mask towards you. Place it firmly over your nose and mouth, secure the elastic band behind your head, and breathe normally.

  8. Spector Spectorcore with chambered maple topped body weighing 3.5kg and a lined ebony fingerboard, 35” scale. Amberburst gloss finish. EMG pickup and Fishman piezo bridge. Strung with LaBella low tension flats. Good condition, one screw missing on back access plate, it broke early on and the plate is marked where I had get the screw out. See photo. Would consider a trade for a reasonably lightweight Precision, not necessarily Fender, either fretted or fretless 4 string preferred but not necessarily. Open to suggestions.

  9. Guitar now SOLD !, 26 Sep 2021 Thanks to all who've expressed interest 😉 Neck date of late Dec 1982 Fender Jazz Bass, 3 Colour Sunburst Finish (62 Vintage Model), serial V003173. Weighs in at 9.5lbs and is in nice condition apart from a few minor lacquer blemishes on the back of the neck. Comes with a hard case (not Fender) and was recently authenticated, tested and valued by Andertons in Guildford where I bought it from in the early 90s. It's hardly been used in the last 20 years due to increasing neuropathy in my left hand 🥵. It's priced to be mid range of the valuation given by Andertons, so no daft low bids please ! Also please expect extra £30+/- for courier to UK or £75 +/- for overseas. This is a private sale.

  10. I've always been a fan of Faith No More and Billy Goulds bass is a big part of their sound so I'd love to have his signature Zon

  11. Unfortunately I missed the courier on Friday, as otherwise I'd have gigged this on Saturday. A quick check out shows it's rather loud in the house. Some experimenting is called for as there are a wide range of tone control options (never a good idea with me). There's also facilities to use the array of 24 LEDs as a VU meter (4 modes) or a tuner. Initial impression of the sound is very clean, with plenty of depth. There's a Deep and a Bright switch for that smiley face sound, and the Antoniotsai (which has Barts and a Delano Sonar preamp, set flat) sounded great on that with the amp tone controls somewhere round flat. And a few hours later, the Big Baby 2 was gone - a good cab and very lightweight, but not as lightweight as the GR. One minor point - the GR has the amp tucked in the back, balancing the speaker at the front, so the handle is in the middle for correct balance. The BB2 obviously has a speaker on the front panel but nothing to balance that on the rear, so the handle is asymmetric, closer to the front of the cab than the back. I didn't measure the distance from the front for each, but I suspect the GR's handle is a tiny bit further away from the front than the BB2's.

  12. Lovely American Special P bass, that was converted to fretless with a thick slab of ebony by a previous owner. Finish is the ‘hand-rubbed’ nitro satin honeyburst, that I believe there was only a short run of for Guitar Center in the US. The fretless mod was done (I think) by Brook guitars in Devon (that’s from memory - could be wrong). It was done really nicely, onto the original neck, even preserving the original nut. As well as that mod, I’ve done a bunch of upgrades, to try and get it close the Tony Franklin signature fretless. It now has a Hipshot Kickass bridge, Hipshot USA Ultralite tuners, a Jazz pickup, DiMarzio DP126 pickup set (that’s the Model P and Model J - Tony has the Model J in his original I think) and Dunlop strap locks. It has the original volume and tone (tone is Greasebucket as far as I know, which I really like), plus a 3 way switch for either pickup or both - again functionally the same as the 3 way slider on the TF. All work done by Chris McIntyre here in Edinburgh, so top quality. I don’t have the weight right now - will add later - but it’s not heavy. Around 9lbs I think. I’m told the body is 1.8” thinner than a usual P, plus obviously I have the Ultralites on there, which also means it balances perfectly on a strap now. Good opportunity to get something very close to the Tony Franklin signature fretless P bass, for a fraction of the price, in a great finish. It has a few little marks on the body (that finish makes it a bit easier for that to happen - can do closeups for anyone interested, plus a bit of wear and 1 scratch on the scratchplate (that is what they’re for eh?) - but condition excellent other than that. Neck is immaculate. Only selling as I have a case of GAS for something else. In an ideal world I’d have both!

  17. This is a fantastic work bass with white front and side LEDs . It has a 3 band Glock preamp and standard string space. It's a Matt white which is really nice. There are no dings there are one or two faded spots size of a 5p but it is hardly noticeable. Nice low action and nice player. No trades please just looking for a sale and collect. It comes in a abs case also in good condition.

  19. Elevate the cab, or at the very least tilt it back so you're on the driver axis. Adding a 410 to a 115 seldom works well, as most 115s can't keep up with a 410. 90% of the time you'll get the best results with two identical cabs.

  23. Fight! The OC-5 wins on tracking and the solo vintage setting -1 Octave. The MXR 'growl' sounds close, but like it has a sore throat, but it also has the mid boost button and the 'girth' voice and perhaps sounds a bit better for subtle mild octave mixed in whereas the OC-5 is better for full-on stuff.

  27. Did a deal on this with a good friend, but we had to call it off. So, it’s now back with me for another half-hearted attempt to part with it! it’s a wonderful jazz V, that I love but don’t really need, which is why I’ve not resorted to eBay yet. Which will probably be my next step as I’d like to put the cash elsewhere. It has a great sound and it plays like a dream. The action is low the length of the fretboard without any buzzes or rattles. It really is very well setup and very stable. It’s typical Sandberg quality, handmade in Germany and features a Norwegian maple neck, cedar body, aluminium hardware, Black Label pickups coupled with Sandberg’s usual 2 band EQ. The volume pot also acts as a push/pull to bypass the preamp and run in passive mode. It weighs in at 2.9kg, but balances exceptionally well. The weight savings run across the bass. It is NOT a case of lightweight body but everything else remains the same. It balances very well, just happens to be significantly lighter than average! I can include an as-new Music Area aa35 case, which is a hard case/gigbag hybrid, costing £160 new, as well as the Sandberg gig bag. Trades, please message me. Particularly interested in other Jazz 5s alongside cash, or short scales.

  28. Has anyone heard of, or have any first hand experience of, this company? They appear to make custom preamp pedals.... I'm particularly interested in this GK 800RB pedal: https://www.mastereffectspedals.com/super-eight-hundred They also have an Ampeg SVT pedal: https://www.mastereffectspedals.com/superthreehundred as well as Orange, Peavey, Traynor, HiWatt, Mesa/Boogie preamp pedals....

  29. We all know what an earworm is. A song you hear and can't get out of your head all day. But does anyone else get dreamworms, where you actually wake up with a song in your head that you haven't heard in years? I suspect it's some sort of nighttime re-filing that the brain does while we're sleeping. I do it quite often. This is today's little gem. A song I haven't heard or thought about in a very long time, and I'd totally forgotten even existed. What an absolute banger!

  33. I've a vintage white BB414 which is very good. The fact of the matter is that with the 414 yamaha revived the BB series which had IMO veered away from the classic BB style. The 414 is a great rock bass, it looks sexy and is well made for a great low price. Everything produced since then has been trying to improve aspects that really don't need improving like fancy through body bridge, multi-laminate neck etc. The 2024 should have at least been produced with some exclusive colours to justify the mega price hike over the 1024. Let's face it the 414 should be Yamaha's equivalent of the P bass. They should take a leaf out of Fender's book and don't mess with it!

  39. @dave_bass5 It seems strange that you are so keen to change something that has finally been made typographically correct back to the old way when it was wrong. Consider this: I'm mildly dyslexic (you can probably spot from my posts) and proper typography helps me, as I've learnt to recognise patterns of letters, symbols and punctuation from professionally produced books that recognise all the rules of typography. As soon as those rules start to be broken, it makes reading for me much more difficult. There are several people on my Basschat ignore list, not because I don't agree with what they say, but simply because they type it in such a way that makes my brain hurt trying to read and make sense of it. Admittedly I can live either way with the instance that appears to be causing you such a problem (for me it's a very mild aberration), but others, like the insertion of a space before a punctuation symbol (something I think comes from posting from a phone), make reading what has been posted for me much, much harder. I always look at these posts and think "have these people never seen a properly printed book or newspaper before? Surely it is obvious that they are wrong?"...

  41. That was me, and yes I had the bass converted to fretless by Brook Guitars. They did a fabulous job, and this is a very good bass. The former, they are on the "fret". It's a right proper slab of ebony on this bass.

  43. I was surprised at the massive tone upgrade when I put flats on my P bass, so I tried some on my Jazz. They took away all I liked about the Jazz, so the rounds went back on. IMO a P bass and flats just go together and rounds bring out the extended frequencies of the Jazz.

  45. A very big thank you to Mike and everyone that helped put this event on - your effort is genuinely appreciated. It was so nice to get together with everyone again and catch up. It's not just about basses as over lunch we: We cured old age pains that make you go arrrggghh when you sit down or get up (just requires rhubarb crumble) We shared a recipe for the perfect salad dressing# Ate some very nice food. Went back for more. And went back for more again..... For anyone that hasn't been to this before, put it in your diary for next year. It is such a friendly event in a beautiful setting. I'm looking forward to the next one already!!
