  1. SOLD So I've finally decided to sell my little Streamline 4. Bought as a backup because it almost fits in the glove compartment of a car 😂 or for those gigs that we all get sometimes where there's no space to move. In fact, I have gigged this on a very dark stage whilst rammed into a corner behind the PA - the green LEDS are just perfect in this kind of situation. Nothing flashy but very useful for a quick reference. There are the usual minor swirls in the top of the, highly polished, body but no dings that I can see anywhere. Overall in very good condition & certainly not abused in any way. Standard string spacing with bendwell and green wraparound LEDS plus the original style Madarozzo gig bag. I think this specification would come in just below £3,500 now and order times are pretty long. £2,050 including UK shipping. I can ship outside of UK at cost via UPS insured courier.

  4. Beautiful luthier made signature Precision built in 2014, you all know what a great reputation Jon Shuker has and this is a superb example of his work. This comes with Shuker branded Hiscox case, specification list from Shuker, tools and JJ Burnell pick. It also has the signature of both builder and player on the headstock. This model differs from the standard JJ model slightly in that it has all black hardware, single ply scratchplate and ABM bridge. I purchased it from eBay very recently from the original owner, I had everything confirmed by Jon who remembered the bass and the slight changes from stock. It weighs 4.1kgs and has a 44mm nut width, the neck is superb and the bass balances perfectly. Neck depth is shallow and measures 18/19 mms at first fret and 22mms at the heel. I’m loathed to part with it because it is such a fantastic bass and because of the association with one of my first bass heroes. The combination of a wider nut width than I’m used to however and the fact I’m leaning towards medium scale instruments at the moment means it’s just not going to get played. The bass is in the same condition as when I purchased it. There are a few scratches and marks to the finish but nothing structural or unsightly, it is in excellent condition. It has new Daddarios on it. I’m asking what I paid for as I think it’s a very fair price for one of these, a new version (without the signatures) would cost well over 2K and would come with a long wait! Frets are excellent, like new as they are steel, neck is straight and true, low action. No offers, no trades. I’d really prefer pickup for this. U.K. only. More pics to follow, I’m in the middle of packing for my move so it’s currently in its case safely away from the chaos! Only trades to tempt me - a short-scale EB Stingray (US only) plus cash my way, a Ric 4003 or 4003s, a short/medium scale Precision with maple board plus cash my way. No other trades, sorry I will ignore anything else. PM me rather than put offers on this thread. I’d prefer cash and trade value I’d expect to be looking at an £1800 value on this. Cheers!

  6. Regrettably selling my 1978 Mustang, a beautiful looking and sounding bass, this thing has tonnnns of character! Reason for sale is that i haven't played it in a few years, so its just sat gathering dust, and i'd like for it to go to a nice home, where it's played! It's never been gigged or been on any long tours - was only used for recording sessions and recording at home! and is still in amazing condition for a 78 model! More pics to follow (she is currently over in Somerset) so will get them taken when i'm over that way next week!

  10. Nice Japanese Tokai jazz bass from the early 80s. These basses are well known for being a good copy of the originals. The bass has a lot of usermarks, bucklerash and dents all over. The neck is straight and adjustable. The frets show wear, but action can be set pleasantly low without problems. The other hardware and electronics work like they should. Weight is about 4,05 kg (kitchen scale). Asking €695 I am located in the Netherlands but I am happy to ship at buyers risk.

  13. Thanks to everyone for the replies. After looking at some of the various suggestions he decided he wanted a Fender Rumble LT25.....and we got one on eBay. It's a year old and (so say) in excellent condition. Next up is making sure it's all a ok when it lands.

  14. Well, the noob got another bass yesterday! My Precision is set up with flats, so I wanted something else to set up with rounds. This Road Worn Jazz Bass cropped up on ebay reasonably close to me and we met halfway yesterday so I could pick it up. It was in desperate need of a setup though, but a tweak of the truss rod took the bow out of the neck, then a little bridge height and intonation adjustment and it now plays wonderfully. It's a very lightweight bass, I haven't weighed it yet, but I reckon it's around the 8 lbs mark. I also took the opportunity to polish out the dull finish with Virtuoso Guitar Cleaner. I know these basses come with a satin finish, but I've never seen an actual vintage bass with such a dull finish, so now it's a bit more gloss. Has anyone else got an opinion on these Road Worns? Anyway, the pictures! Cheers, Rob

  15. It's only what someone hopes to get for it, not an actual market value. I've seen much, much worse over the years. I never thought I'd get to see 1k Squiers either, but this is the crazy world we live in.

  16. Well, it's sort of the point I'm making - that they are over the top cliche statements about how people think others get overly offended nowadays when the reality is that not many people are actually offended by those things. Aparently the Winterval/cancel christmas thing was in the Daily Mail 44 times, and the The Times and The Sunday Times mentioned it 40 times before the papers needing to admit that it's a false story where no-one ever had any intention of cancelling christmas. People enjoyed getting reading stories and getting annoyed by ficticious liberals getting annoyed though, us vs them. I haven't really seen people on this thread genuinely be upset and angry about that ad saying 'no women', they're just discussing how it makes the bloke (assuming it's a bloke?!) sound a bit of a kn0b.

  23. Barefaced Big Baby (Generation 1?) Price DROP £300 This is one of earlier Barefaced cabs – same size as the original 15” Compact but this one has 12” speaker and 6.5” mid-range unit. The nearest I can find on their websites is this for the Big Baby T which also has an additional tweeter. https://barefacedbass.com/product-range/big-baby.htm Size= 25.5" high x 19.5" wide x 13.5" deep (64cm x 48cm x 34cm). Weight = prob a tweeter less than 36 lbs Overall the cab is in good nick no major dents or scratches. Its covered in that bumpy cold scrotum effect paint that Barefaced used on their early cabs – seems to have lasted well. The handle is not in a good shape – still works but the rubber is coning away. I think Barefaced sell a replacement. Also got a roqsolid basic cover Sound wise it’s got a lovely smooth and rich bass and strong mids – IMO much nicer than the original compact that I used to have. It’s a great all round cab. Afraid its pickup only from N Essex – I can drive a bit to meet up if it helps.

  29. I played around with the pickguards today. Ended up reverting to the original ones. You’ve seen before the matt black… The copper with black pickguard really works, but I prefer it on the sparkle, even better than the black matt… may venture with a pearloid pickguard at some point for the dropped copper.

  30. Well, as I said in my initial post, I can't hear any difference between this quite expensive silver coated cable and my cheap Fender festival cables. However that won't stop me buying a Zaolla solid silver core cable to compliment it now that @lee650has reminded me I've always wanted one. Don't ask me why, I think it's just a 'I've got a fancy bass, so why not have a fancy cable' syndrome! Having said that, I do think it adds a bit of professional bluff when you go in the studio, get out your U5 di and connect up with a cable like this. Of course you have to back it up with your playing which is when it all falls apart!

  34. I actually bought this one to match an S2 so I'd be able to switch back & forth really quickly if I had to at a gig. To date (he says tempting fate. . .) I've never had a string break or a battery fail on me at a gig so I haven't needed an 'emergency' bass. However, I couldn't resist gigging this one a few times just for fun. It's really quite liberating to have something so small, light and easy to play when on stage!

  40. Up for grabs this superb Spector NS 2000/4. Have a google about these guitars. Every bit as good as the high end Spectors and only made for a short time. Maple neck, through neck construction as per high end version, maple body and EMG electrics.Brass nut. All working and correct. This feels and sounds amazing.Selling due to using my other guitars more and it's a shame to have this sitting around....plus I have something else in mind!! Can be seen and tried out in Falkirk or posted UK only at your risk. Thanks! Any questions just ask.

  41. From what I can tell, Fred, the guy from Peavey who's been soliciting opinions from the bass community, is a Trace fanboy, and seems very motivated to keep his fellow Trace fans happy. Interestingly, he's also been soliciting opinions on what features should be on a new version of the Cirrus bass - that I'd like to see. As Merton said, almost all the components in most electronic devices are made in China these days. All that's different is who is bolting and soldering it all together. The important thing isn't where it's made, it's who's doing the quality control. Peavey have a pretty good track record of reliability with their China-made gear, so the new Trace gear should be no different.

  45. Ah! I was debating whether to get a 5 string again, but in reality I would only have it for home use and felt unjustified. So, you may ask, what’s better than one Stingray Special? TWO! This one is yet lighter at 3.75kg (what amazing times we’re living in to have rays under 4kg!). A tad brighter on the treble side so this one will be out on gigs more often, the sparkle boy most rehearsals/videos/studio… I was for a moment thinking I better get a HH version but in fairness I find myself not needing more than one pickup, the preamp is super flexible…! 46. Well this arrived yesterday, I’ve been looking for one for a while and a practically new condition one came up, not really been played, only tested and it still had the plastic on the pickups and tuning pegs , I have to say that the compound neck profile is amazing (not that I venture much up the dusty end 😁), it really feels great. It’s taking me a while to find the sound I like with the controls, any advice greatly welcomed , It’s quite a joy to play 🙂
