... Aaaaand the other one is here! for those that didn't read my previous sale here, the time has come for my Rays and I to bid adieu. It's been a great great time (as my absence here has shown) but bills, renovations, a new motorcycle and others mean I have to let go of something. Notes: - Colour is discontinued. - This series is on Swamp Ash body - newer ones (the £3.2k+ of today are 'select hardwood' - unspecific). Board is ebony, neck on roasted maple. - This bass does NOT have the cutout for controls on the back unlike the new ones (less plastic covers... more wood?) - Bass is 4kg, I'm picky for weight and can pull off 4hr rehearsals with it super super comfortably. Offered with absolutely all case and candy. - Hipshot detuner added on the original tuner - can be reversed easily and without troubles. - Original pick guard, 3 layer matt black and single layer matt black pickguards included, flat AND round Daddario NYXL and Chromes as new included, same as dunlop strap locks - Super mint condition with no blemish that I may spot, perfectly adjusted and cleaned with Music Nomad suite. - Serial: September 2018. Neck is super smooth and the preamp is incredibly versatile, P, J bass sounds... it's done all my round wound recordings in studio to date. You can here it here, clean, gritty and pushed distortion in the middle 8 part of this song (2:26): I've something arranged and bills so I need the money - no trades and can hear offers - I reserve the right to withdraw or sell it to what I consider to be a good home. Thank you for drooling my post.13 points

Here we have a beautiful, and close to showroom condition, Mike Lull JT5 five string bass. Only reason for sale is arthritis in my left wrist which is forcing me to return to four string basses - even then it's hard work! 👎 This was handmade in USA and is passive. It is fitted with Mike Lull's take on the Thunderbird type pickups which give great tone, pots are vol vol tone. The scale is 35" and there are 24 frets. Body is swamp ash (beautiful three tone sunburst finish), the neck is one piece maple and graphite reinforced and has a lovely maple fingerboard. Bone at nut is 1. 7/8 inches. It is fitted with Hipshot tuners and bridge. Due to covid the bass has had little use so the finish is still really excellent. I don't have sound clips, but they exist on You Tube. The weight is stated to be 3.9k but it feels lighter to me and is very comfortable on the shoulders and easy to play. I can't add too much more - the pictures reveal all! I would prefer a face to face meet up and would travel a reasonable distance to deliver. Any questions please ask. You're welcome to come and try it in Bournemouth. I've jut added a few more pics to show the excellent condition of the bass. Neck socket and rear of neck in particular.8 points

I decided to go for it and order the CTM100 valve head Arrived safely today and WOW it’s an amazing sounding amp, I can easily say it’s the best sounding amp I’ve owned. Better than my old SVT-CL even !! You really can’t get this tone from anything that isn’t a valve amp. It feels different to play ( tube compression ) and has a huge punch to the sound. You need to work on the EQ settings but when you discover the effect they have it’s a lovely tone. Not sure yet if I should dime the master volume and use the gain control as final amp volume or a mix of both. Well done Ashdown for a great amp You may also notice this is the new look fascia with larger knobs like the CTM2008 points

I felt like a kid in a toy shop a week before Christmas on Sunday. Thanks very much to @cetera for letting me play with his Spectors and also to @Merton whose TE1200 and Barefaced 210 is a match made in heaven @Steve Browning with his Mesa TT800s @Happy Jack with his Reverend Watt Plower @Mudpupwith his surprisingly good Cort. and @MacDaddy @orangefridayand @eude for their weird and wonderful stuff. And thanks to @Hamster, Mrs@Hamster and @Kingbassist for making it all happen6 points

They ask you for your email address etc (I'm assuming to set up a payment) and I've even given them ludicrous email accounts and names. Including that my address was 'Police Headquarters', I've used the name 'Chief Inspector Warwickhunt' and that my department was 'Fraud Department'. They never twigged but just kept sending messages that they'd tried the email address to send a link to the courier. I suggested that maybe it was [email protected] rather than [email protected]... they just kept firing messages asking had I received the link and paid the insurance.4 points

Well. Although I did not see this coming, it is happening. I bought a new bike, a personal loss putting things in perspective and, much as this is my favourite bass ever, bills and life have made me downscale my gear. Perspective I guess. Selling my unicorn (which I managed to find again) first edition of the Musicman Stingray Special 5HH in Cruz Teal. The bass was bought BRAND NEW and imported from USA in March this year - call it NOS or what you will but the bass is perfectly impeccable. It took me several laps around the world to find it and bring it home (and pay duties on!). Notes: - Colour is discontinued. - This series is on Swamp Ash body - newer ones (the £3.2k+ of today are 'select hardwood' - unspecific). Board is ebony, neck on roasted maple. - This bass does NOT have the cutout for controls on the back unlike the new ones (less plastic covers... more wood?) - Bass is 4.2kg, I'm picky for weight and can pull off 4hr rehearsals with it comfortably. Offered with absolutely all case and candy. - Pearloid pickguard, flat AND round Daddario Chromes / NYXL included, same as dunlop strap locks - More than mint condition, not gigged, perfectly adjusted and cleaned with Music Nomad suite. - Serial: August 21st, 2019. Neck is the most comfortable I've had on a 5er, and the 5 position switch blade is delicious - I used to think I did not need HH config but I have been using the single configuration on cleans quite a bit, lots of twang or growl too if you engage both humbuckers! P and J tones are also super easy to achieve with this 18V preamp. Of course dead silent. I've something arranged and bills so I need the money - no trades and can hear offers - I reserve the right to withdraw or sell it to what I consider to be a good home. Thank you for drooling my post.4 points

Due to downsizing and more gas I'm moving on this amazing little Envelope filter. As with all EBS pedals, it's fully analog with three modes. High Q- is a very funky bootsy esq wah type filter, with plenty of highs. My favourite sound on this pedal. Up - is your classic filter sound, which while similar to the high Q works on a much lower set of frequencies, so much fatter. Down- That Ray gun sounding Byoww sound! 🤣 my favourite on any filter for synth sounds. Put an octaver in parallel with this and its very greasy and funky. This pedal was a very pleasent surprise for me, as I'd tried most of the high end filters, and I loved this one from the get go. It is very easy to trigger and has a good sensitivity. Note- this is a later "true Bypass" version. The earlier versions, did not trigger very well IMHO (I've had two non True bypass) especially with low output basses, and the down was unusable. This later version corrected those foibles, and it triggers perfectly. If what I want goes,I may withdraw this, however my C4 covers a lot of filters 😁 It's in immaculate condition with high quality Velcro on the back.3 points

Hey there! We are a pawn shop in SE Portland, Oregon. I think we have your Travis Bean bass!3 points

I have a MS60b which sits on the board to provide me with the odd spot effect (currently delay, flange and a couple of specific EQ settings). In the event of a problem with one or more of the other pedals, or a lack of space (it has happened) it would give me all I needed to complete the gig. Be warned that the batteries (2xAA) don't - I had a low battery warning from a fresh set after about 60 minutes of intermittent use. The unit prefers a high current (500ma) power source. Solid as a rock and great sounds. I also use a B1Four - mainly for home/headphone practice with a set of sounds that loosely mirror my main board. For a big and/or remote gig, I'd take it as a back-up. Feels a bit more flimsy but I've had no problems. The editing software for both (Zoom Guitar Lib or ToneLib) is a must.3 points

Guitarists have double-locking, floating vibrato bridges, trans-trem bridges, countless active pickups, modelling and profiling amps. On the amp side, they're probably more developed than bass whereas bass is really only ahead when it comes to onboard EQ, something which hasn't really been embraced by guitarists. For every solicitor peddling fake blues on their Strat, there's usually a lad plodding away on a Precision beside him. That stuck-in-the-50's knife cuts both ways.3 points

The other day by chance I listened to Joe Jackson's song "Steppin Out" which I didn't know at all. I was immediately fascinated by the bass line all in octaves with quite fast chord changes ... I had a lot of fun playing it and I decided to record it, this is my version played with my Fender Precision American Pro 2! Did you know this song and especially this bass line? Which bass line do you enjoy playing the most?3 points

Didn’t think I’d move this on to be honest, I’ve had it a year and it’s easily one of the best bass amps I’ve ever owned - impeccable build quality, well thought out preamp, oodles of power, quiet as a mouse when it comes to the fan… but… there’s always a but… Before buying this last year I’d had my heart set on the new Trace Elliot TE-1200 and thanks to @Russ I now have one. To be honest I find myself preferring the core tone of the Trace - this week I’ve done loud A/Bing with my rock band and it got a lot of attention at the recent SE Bass Bash. The Glock is absolutely superb, don’t get me wrong; the preamp is clean, crisp and hifi and the drive function is superb (so much so I preferred it over using the Ashdown OriginAL preamp), I just think I prefer the Trace. This is the Rolls Royce of bass amps and deserves to be played, not kept in its gigbag and used because I feel guilty occasionally. It comes with its carry bag, mains lead and manual. And a Glockenklang sticker, very important that. 1000W at 4 ohms/500W at 8 Or, with the flick of two tiny dip switches on the underside, 900W at 2.67ohms. Whilst this is class D and SMPS it really is one of the most full fat head you could imagine, all those “class D is weedy” threads are nonsense when you hear this. Powerful, clean, crisp, highly dynamic. Marvellous. Price is for collection from Surrey, UK mainland shipping is £20. Thanks to Brexxxxit I can’t ship further afield.2 points

Boom There are gaps the size of the mariana trench, but hopefully everything is sealed up nicely. I didn't put wadding in, because I want to save it for a later build that isn't made of OSB. Saying that, I guess the question people want answering is "how does it sound?" Pretty good is the answer. No deep throbbing lows, but I'm not too fussed as I'm predominantly a double bass player, and this cabinet is perfectly tuned for that. There is wonderful string detail coming from the tweeter that usually comes across as horribly harsh in other cabs. The woofer isn't broken in either so I expect it to mellow out as it ages. One step that I found difficult was the fitting of the front baffle. The brace across its front is one snug fit. Impotant I know but the tolerances are such that it was a real pain to get that in. I wish to thank everyone on this thread for their advice and support . This has been a wonderful experience both online and in the workshop (aka garage) and the tips I learnt here are invaluable. Similarly I hope this thread serves as a useful supplement to the main thread on this cabinet. I will be building more and hopefully will put more pictures up online as I go. Speaking of that, I'm currently waiting on a delivery of a CDX1-1425......2 points

Have a look at the free editor for effects for these models: G5n, G3Xn, G3n, B3n, G1on, G1Xon, B1on, B1Xon, MS-50g, MS-60b, MS-70CDR. Gave my unit a 2nd wind and I was also able to put my favourite patches from the MS50G on there too. https://www.tonelib.net/tonelib-zoom.html2 points

Well, I'll take that as an upside to my not being able to make it either. 😉 Wishing you all a speedy recovery. 👍🤞2 points

Another big fan of the B1-4. I gig it all the time - have one at the heart of my pedalboard, and another as a standalone pedal which provides all the fx I need for many gigs, plus a lit tuner which is great for dark stages. The free ToneLib software makes creating, editing and saving patches pretty intuitive. Ridiculously good value for the money.2 points

Spent a bit of time with the B1 Four and even though it's their bargain unit it didn't feel or sound like it. Felt much nicer than the 708 I used to have which to be fair never missed a beat and was still working perfectly when I sold it years ago. They used to have a bit of an empty feel about them, plastics are better now IMO and they sound much more organic/convincing. Probably all a lot of people would really need tbh.2 points

I've always far preferred the GA24 shape to the normal Supernatural/MK, and I don't just mean the pointy tail. As a package it's much more pleasing to my eye. The Calibas shape was v.nice too.2 points

Nigel Tufnel : Look... still has the old tag on, never even played it. Marty DiBergi : [points his finger] You've never played...? Nigel Tufnel : Don't touch it! Marty DiBergi : We'll I wasn't going to touch it, I was just pointing at it. Nigel Tufnel : Well... don't point! It can't be played. Marty DiBergi : Don't point, okay. Can I look at it? Nigel Tufnel : No. no. That's it, you've seen enough of that one.2 points

@BillyBass's Charvel's were gas inducing, and @eude and I managed to compare the ACG Mule and Rob Allen Mouse. There's very little if anything between them. The feel, weight, sound, are practically the same, but a new Mule costs the same as a pre-owned Mouse.2 points

Given the other two, are you sure the first one shouldn't be "reacharound"?2 points

I feel that drummers (and other band members) at my time in life (50+, let's say) should have become competent, so I should only have to consider their temperament, reliability, and equipment. I frequently find out that I was wrong about the competence.2 points

Next task is to shape the neck and radius the fretboard. I've cut the first line to follow the body but that's as far as I've got so far.2 points

I did 2 different Police tributes. One just played in local pubs, the other did bigger gigs. Do you have to be a fan of the original artist, or maybe you become one? I am a fan of the Police, so it was easy for me. Both bands I was in, were also big fans How important is it to be visually/musically identical? How much latitude are you allowed? I look a lot like Sting, even when not on stage and as he is the focus it worked well. I spent quite a lot of money on the correct basses and the matching outfits Do you ‘get into character’ or is it just a gig? I spent a lot of time watching Sting live and copying his moves but I don't speak like him Does it feel musically limiting, or is it fulfilling your needs? (Maybe you have a side band?) Try singing and playing some of those songs. Driven to tears is the hardest playing/singing at the same time song I've done Do you have any qualms about tributes ‘stifling original music’? Absolutely not. Why would it Have you ever met or been seen by a member of the ‘originals’? What did they say? No, but I tweeted a video to Stewart Copeland and he commented on 'you got the sound right but I pity the poor B'stard in the cute shorts' What is the overriding thing being in a tribute act has taught you? Nothing I didn't already know. You can't please everyone all the time. I always put 100% effort into every gig, big or small Having done it once, would you do it again? If so, would the musical angle be very different? I would yes but not The Police now. My knees hurt and a bad shoulder means I can't jump up and down and so it's not authentic enough now anyway here's a few pictures of the gear etc2 points

Thanks to everyone who came, displayed, played, chatted, laughed and made for a fantastic day. It makes all the organisation of these events so much more worthwhile.... Big thanks to Colin @Hamster and Sarah (Mrs Hamster) for securing the venue and keeping us caked & coffee-d and to@Kingbassist for taking the time out of his busy schedule to give a fascinating and entertaining talk and demonstrate some awesome playing. Hope to see you again at future events Ian! Gear of the day for me was the new Trace Elliot head (huge heft and punch!) and the Trondheim Audio SkarBassOne pedal (juicy tones!). Both are new to market so keep an eye/ear out for them! Same time next year (preferably without the torrential rain storms)?!2 points
