We've just done 3 gigs last week after a month's layoff due to health problems with some of the band. We still were a cellist down (damned Covid again) but did the gigs as a 7 piece. Started off in High Wycombe, then down to Weymouth finishing with a nice ferry trip over to Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. The gigs went well, audience figures holding up too despite all the financial woes around at the moment. Good to be back doing it again.12 points

In stunning condition with no dings or scratches just some play swirls. Nicely aged cream finish. Complete with what maybe the original hard case, the case is worn in places but solid. Has bridge cover. All works as it should. The slot on the nut for the G string is a little worn but as she has a zero fret system it doesn't seem to matter. The tone is good, solid and tight. £12 Shipping UK.11 points

I had no money so I thought I might as well spend it. So I went for something a bit different (via Reverb) and splashed out on this Anthracite 4H Bongo, something I'd always wanted to try. First impressions: great finish, super-low action, everything works as it should and the sound, admittedly only through my Vox headphone amp, is satisfyingly different to any other bass I've got. Looking forward to gigging it next weekend and will report back.9 points

I recently took delivery of my CLF L-1000. I’ve been waiting a while for it and I’m thrilled with it. I expect the colour won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I fell in love with it.9 points

I thought I'd be otherwise engaged this weekend, but I find I can make it. I'm mainly a busker, so I'll be bringing: A modular 1x10 battery / mains combo + extension speaker. A couple of battery powered amps. An 'even-briefer-case' 2x5 battery powered combo. An Ibanez EWB205 - 5-string ABG. An Ibanez EHB1265 - 5-string, headless, fanned fret bass. David8 points

So… I treated myself to this a couple of weeks ago. After an initial wobble where I was tempted to move it on I have decided it is likely a keeper. Super lightweight at just over 3 kg and just about the best neck I have ever had the pleasure of playing. It does quite a nice P bass impression with the neck pickup and a decent Stingray impression with a little bridge pickup rolled in… And as for the wood choices… ♥️♥️7 points

Replaced my B7K Ultra and the Cali Compact Bass for a BassRig Super Vintage and the Empress Compressor. Decided to treat myself as I just got promoted in my work. The OC-2 preset I found for my C4 is really good and decided to let go of my OC-2. Going for a blue and industrial themed board. Compact setup for life! Next on my GAS list is a JMJ Mustang Bass ❤️6 points

When you said fancy materials I thought it was going to be aluminium or carbon fibre. Not boring old wood.6 points

ANY BASS OU DOUBLE BASS RELATE STUFF CONSIDERED. FOR TRADES, PLEASE CONSIDER THE ORIGINAL PRICE OF THIS AD INSTRUMENTS, AMPS, PEDALS HIT ME Hello guys Selling my beloved Godin, due not to be used as I expected. At the moment strung with Rotosound rounds. I bought this bass last year without the electronics. Just body and neck. Bought the original lace sensor pup and reinstalled with a tradicional Pbass wiring (volume and tone on top). There was a crack on the top, professionally repaired and a custom painting (just on the top) to help hiding the scars. Also added a beautiful rosewood thumb rest. It is tuned half step down atm (tuned it to Db this days and works nicely), action is medium (more like a acoustic bass) but can be lowered removing a shim from the neck pocket. The volume unplugged is loud enough (for me) to study new songs without an amp. Just to be clear, there is no midi/piezo pickups on it. Thanks! Nick WhatsApp Video 2023-04-19 at 15.52.38.mp45 points

Hi everyone, looking to sell my Dingwall NG3 5 string (2018). £1700 Ono. It's in mint condition. Only ever used at home for recording a few times. I'm looking at thinning the herd and haven't been playing this bass as much as my others. It's a great bass that deserves more use. Would prefer collection or happy to meet in the middle up to an hour away in the Berkshire, Surrey, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire area as well as London. Happy to answer questions as best I can. Cheers Vish5 points

Up for sale is my Ibanez ATK 300...bass in amazing condition and seen very little use ( still has the plastic control instructions under the knobs!).... very versatile and does do an aggressive Stingray type tone plus much more. Construction is very good, having a three piece neck, the middle piece being quarter sawn. two piece ash body....bass is a sensible 9.2lbs in weight.... happy to ship at buyers risk, will be well packaged though!!5 points

Perhaps worth keeping in mind that they're probably kinda running TWO websites in parallel right now. And it's NAMM week, so I guess that may have some impact too. Let's not lose sight of the fact that BD are more of a two-man operation than a Tho-mann operation [waits for applause].5 points

In days gone by, I would have jumped at this and had a pre-prepared list. As I've gotten older, money (and by extension, personal possessions) mean less and less; its more about finding a balance of contentedness with other people, relationships, animals, location, environment etc. If you gave £1000 to a dog, it wouldn't make it happy. Maybe the best things in life are free?5 points

So this came up, and having sold mine a few years back and regretted it, I took the plunge. The 5ers are very rare as I think they were about 50 units out of the total of 300 worldwide. I’d forgotten what a good “P Bass” sound you get from the front pickup, and also how user-friendly the 3 band MEC EQ is with active/passive switching and coil tap on the “twin-jazz” bridge pickup. More importantly for me, the bass, mid, treble sweeps make it easy to get what you want. Oh and like all Dirty Blondes it’s pretty light at 8lb 2oz with no chambering! Condition really good for a 17 year old bass, set up pretty good (only slight tweaks to the “just a nut” and 3d locking bridge needed. Frets and fretboard could do with a good clean but I’ve not done that before ?!?! Looking forward to getting it on stage! Downside is I’m going to have to let my recently acquired Squier P bass go! Look out for the ad soon!5 points

Hofner Contemporary Violin Bass The bass is like new and comes with a Hofner case. It has been modded to look like the vintage German made models - whitened switches, teacup knobs and flat wound black nylon Pyramid strings. It comes with original knobs, strings and tags. It’s a lovely bass to play - I’ve owned several German basses vintage and modern and this sounds and plays as well as the best of these. The pickups are German made and sound great. Use the neck pickup only and you’ve got that famous ‘rooftop concert’ tone. A very light and versatile bass. I’m happy to post at buyer’s cost in the UK no trades thanks.4 points

Great sounding Precision Bass with a good fat tone. Google it for the positive reviews. Love the Candy Apple Red colour and some of the more obvious road worn chips have been touched up with, I understand, matching nail varnish. Made in Mexico 2016. Based on a 1970’s P bass with an ash body, a nitro cellulose finish, Fender HiMass Bridge, Rosewood finger board, Seymour Duncan® Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound Split Single-Coil Precision Bass, Slim C neck shape with a Nut Width of 1.615" (41.02 mm) which is slightly narrower than the usual P bass neck Second Owner and comes with original gig bag and case candy as shown including Foo Fighters optional neck plate. Looking to sell as I prefer my 1996 P Bass and jazz basses. Retail at circa £1,350 on some retail websites. Not really interested in trades at the moment as trying to reduce herd. I am unable to post and live near Loughborough so could meet up a M1 local junction although you may prefer to try before you buy. Looking for £750. Now reduced to £700.4 points

Here is my Spector RST5 bass - possibly the lightest bass I have ever played, and when we measured all the basses at the south west show it was the lightest bass there. Browny red colour, very soft wood so there are a few knocks (shown). Roasted maple neck, quite a deep neck compared to the Euro, normal 17mm ish spector spacing. Very easy bass to play and carry about, comes with a spector soft case. Sounds different to the other spectors with the EMGs, it has Aguilar pickups and preamp with volume / balance / bass / treble - good range on it. The jack socket was replaced with a switchcraft one as it was crackly. Happy to meet up within a 50ish mile radius of here, so bristol / exeter / salisbury way, also happy to find out about shipping costs. Anyway, got it last year but although it is a fine bass and no effort to play or stand with for 3 hours, I like it and often play it at home but just not tending to take it out that much (for no specific reason). As I am not gigging it that much and I have the Spector Euro, so thought I would sell it and maybe get something else - also happy to consider trades. Would be interested in doing trades with Spector Dimensions, ACG / Shuker / Alpher 5s (where the string spacing is a maximum of 17.5mm and not weighing a ton) or anything similar, also Rickenbacker 4003s/5, or just general 4003. All welcome to come down and try etc * I hadn't updated this in a while, as I was on holiday, but I am back now, so here is a discount and bump of it being still available!3 points

I’ve had a hankering for an Aguilar SL112 for a while now. The catch is there are no local dealers stocking them, and as a result they’re pretty rare in these woods. I’ve been watching some classifieds in the States , but with the current state of the Cdn dollar you take a beating on the exchange and duties. And the perils of shipping a substantial box. Found one for sale in Winnipeg last week. Unfortunately that’s halfway across the country … it’s 3500km , a 37.5 hour drive. The seller was not willing to ship. So when one unexpectedly popped up as a local sale , I jumped. Paid a market price. Bought through a store but I know the owner and he cares about his gear. No dings , scrapes , or bruises. Beautiful condition. I plan to just use this at home , maybe drag it out for the odd rehearsal. I’ll probably eventually pick up a smaller Tonehammer head for it , but for the time being it sounds as good as I hoped it would. Beautiful cab. last night I was running a Darkglass e500 with it , I’ll be playing with some other amps over the next couple of days.3 points

Still heard nothing a further 29 hours later. I've had a read of the posts saying just phone which is fine if someone picks up, however I have a busy working life so I can't spend hours waiting. I'd also point out that I'm the customer so why is it my problem. If you can't support the service then surely just don't offer it.3 points

I will have a QSC 10 which will probably scratch that QSC itch if anyone wants to hear one. It is a lovely piece of kit.3 points

Because I absolutely can't stand talking on the phone and will do anything to avoid it. Which is why the internet is such a fantastic thing. I am sure you will find it is a lot more common than you realise. Its not really an issue, I don't expect anyone to cater to my problems, but if they don't I am happy to go elsewhere.3 points

I'd say the Bassrig suits my taste and gives me the tone I'm after better that the B7K. Always been a fan of the ampeg sound. I love the B7k however, you can't unhear that "darkglass" signature sound even at low gain. Even the ampeg IR from shiftline that I loaded in the B7K is nowhere near what the Super Vintage can give in my experience. Also love that there is a cabsim switch that is engaged even when the pedal is off as long as you are connected to the xlr out. I love that the drive is really responsive to my attack as I dig in and the breakup point sounds like a real tube. Here's a sound sample I did earlier Everybody wants to rule the world.wav3 points

Received the Waza-Air Bass this morning. I charged them and have been playing for the last hour or so, absolutely amazing. Great practice tool, I can't believe how liberating it is simply having no leads. I was just practicing via the app playing along with my band's songs. I am quite tempted to just take the Waza and my basses to the Midlands Bass Bash at the weekend. Someone mentioned earlier on this thread (I think) how they'd be brilliant to take when you were selling a bass at a meeting say at a motorway services, they have so many applications and uses. Really superb bit of kit.3 points

We have a few support slots coming up. First off, we're supporting The Long Ryders for the Leeds and Liverpool dates of their UK tour in May. In July, we're supporting Kiefer Sutherland again, when he plays his re-scheduked Manchester date. We're also playing at a tea room in Cheshire in July, which helps to control the ego somewhat! 🤣3 points

Moving towards the end game. Finish is POPPING, I'm very pleased. These are a little dull, but you get an idea. Now I just need to re-drill for fender bridge, 4 knobs and 3 switches and move the pickups and electronics across.3 points

Hi everyone, decided to sell this awesome bass as I'm only using 5 strings these days! I'm a huge lakland fan and this one does not dissapoint. One of the comfiest necks in the business combined with amazing tonal versatility makes these basses so good! Plays and sounds great, everything works as it should. It has been played so there are some light marks etc from normal use. Fitted with dunlop dual strap buttons. Weight is approx 9.6 lbs. This version is fitted with the lakland pickups/preamp. Not interested in any trades or offers please as it's already priced to sell. I may have a spare hardcase and box if postage was needed however would be at buyers cost/risk. Otherwise collection or a meet up is preferable. Any questions just ask. Thanks2 points

Probably the most dull NAMM! I doubt it will exist how it does in the next 3-4 years. There is just no need for all that expense now. The videos I've seen seem to show it is quiet with mostly Youtube influencers gathering to try get content. They may as well bin it off.2 points

Adjusting dual truss rods is quite easy, first set the treble side to be almost flat and then adjust the bass side to have slightly more relief. This is known as differential fingerboard levelling by Leduc or B Bow by Le Fay. Mike Tobias used the same approach for his dual truss rod basses and is also a friend and fan of Christophe Leduc work (and vice versa). PS: The two truss rods don't cross over anywhere.2 points

My Zon Sonus Standard Import is the only one I can't see being sold. Mainly because I could never replace it as they are so rare. I saw a couple on the wall at a now defunct bass specialist store around 2011 (Bass Gear in Twyford - I think @molanmay have had something to do with the place?), played one, loved it but couldn't afford the £1000+ price tag on it. Moved on and forgot about it. And then walked into my local guitar store a few years ago to buy some picks and saw one hanging on the bass wall (amongst the usual stock of a couple of Fenders and Ibanez basses). It was used, mint condition and very keenly priced as they didn't know too much about them. I couldn't believe it. 30 seconds later it was coming home with me..... I've never seen another one in the wild since that first sight back in 2011.2 points

I have tapes on one of my Sunn Mustangs….. and playing it with a pick is one of the funkiest things ever. Awesome tone, and no issues with string degradation so far.2 points

I've been using GHS and D'Addario black tapewounds for nearly a decade with no issues. I don't use a mere guitar pick, though.2 points

I would if it was a neck made of carbon, or aluminium or something a bit different. If it's just bog standard wood, you'd just got to Warmoth.2 points
-
Maybe worth checking the quality bass and guitar spare parts before asking: https://warmoth.com/bass-necks Or even an if not the original maker: https://www.fender.com/en-GB/parts/electric-bass-parts/necks/replacement-necks/?srule=price-low-to-high&sz=12&start=0 Or simply check the second hand market to see the real prices and targets.
