Here’s my 1970s Mexican Jazz bass in sunburst with blocks and binding. This has been used but is in good giggable condition. Everything works as it should (truss rod turns, pickups are great, etc) Check out the damage in the pics. Overall it’s great apart from a bit of a chunk out where the neck meets the body. Doesn’t come with a case but I can possibly secure one for an additional cost. Looking for £500 plus postage.5 points

Fender 75th Anniversary Jazz Bass Maple Fingerboard Diamond Anniversary - Used! This is my beautiful and barely used Fender 75th Anniversary Jazz. This was bought as a backup to my gigging jazz bass, but it’s too nice to take out. There is one mark on the top of the bass, but other than that is perfect. This sounds wonderful with the upgraded pickups. The finish is excellent too, looking both silver and gold. And it’s super light as well. This comes with the tags and the soft case too. Looking for £650 plus postage.5 points

If anyone is pondering fitting a Hipshot Xtender to their JMJ Mustang the BT7 is a direct replacement and the lollipop is easily swapped over too. Took 10 mins and works a treat. They do a lolly version now but it’s shiny It handles the D drop really well, Infact my band tune a half step down and the drop to C# still sounds great and is very stable …5 points

Afternoon everybody. Today I've taken delivery of a second-hand V7 I ordered online from The Bass Gallery in London. Having previously owned only a 2008 Squier Affinity Jazz Bass, which I bought when I was 17, and barely played until I was almost 30, this is a big deal for me. I have a job start date coming up, and had been window shopping a lot for the time I start to receive paycheques. A few weeks ago, a friend offered me a no-strings-attached loan, to pay back at my leisure, to get myself one already, rather than waiting. At the time, I declined, and told him I'd just be patient! For every bass I liked which had sold through by the time I was paid, another would take its place in my affections by the time I had money, I told him. Well, the other night, I think he must've got sick of the pictures I was excitedly showing to him from my window shopping, so he paypal transferred 500 quid to me and said "You work it out"! Should be plenty comfortable to pay him back within 2 paycheques if not 1, so I don't feel too bad about taking his money. And I'll work out a nice little gift to send to him for his kindness too. I went and worked it out, and this is the one I picked. It was between this, or a Fender MIM Siennaburst Mustang Bass PJ that Bass Direct have had listed in their second-hand section. Seems like a beautiful instrument, but it would've cost 50 quid more than this Sire, and I had heard so much about Sire quality that I wasn't sure I'd be seeing much value from that extra 50, when we're talking a smaller bass, with 4 shorter strings, 4 string hardware, a plastic nut, and a Fender decal on the head. Back on topic. I can't believe how much better this feels than my beleaguered '08! For the past couple of lazy years of too-little practice, I had been of the opinion that, realistically, my Squier was still outstripping my ability to play it, as-in, my skill level didn't yet warrant a new bass. But playing with this, I already know now how wrong I was! Everything about this feels like a dream by comparison. Helped, no doubt, by it having had an expert's set-up performed for me, whereas the Squier and its amateur-installed aftermarket hardware only had my own handiwork, intuition, and Google skills seeing to it. But everything about it feels absolutely rock solid. I had wondered if Sire's vaunted good value mightn't have come from corners cut on tuners, bridge etc. But I truly cannot say that turned out to be the case at all, indeed I'm shocked how solid they are here, at least on mine. And the previous owner has kept it in absolutely pristine condition. It sounds great, and further to that, it's also just relieving to be free from aftermarket EMGs which in some manner or other developed a mystery microphony problem... I'm in love with it already. White finish and tort scratchplate is my ideal JBass visual combination, too, as the cherry on top. I feel like this new bass of mine has uncorked a wine bottle of enthusiasm for practicing.5 points

I was once hit by someone who was in a band, does that count? We auditioned a drummer for our last band who played on a prog hit in the 70's. He may have mentioned it quite a few times just incase we forgot. He was decent but we all decided we didn't want to hear about his one hit every 5 minutes.5 points

Howdy all You know me to be in general a big fan of @stevie's work, and he kindly sent me the newest addition to the LFSys FRFR stable, the 1x 10" Monza cab, to try out. (https://www.lfsys.co.uk/bassguitarproducts) I'll start with some pics of it next to my LFSys 'Silverstone' 1x12" - actually the very first Basschat Mk3 FRFR 1x12", but with updated crossover and horn a la the SIlverstone cab from the LFSys range. Pardon the wear; it's been out and about plenty. In short, it's a peach of a cabinet which I think can be the first 10" with a real claim to compete with a loud drummer. It is good for pub/club gigs; it handled rehearsals well with a loud drummer in a small enclosed space. I tested it out for a week or so in a few settings with my Berg Mk1 B Amp. I'll try to summarise the main points for me. Every instrument I played through it sounded very natural, like playing through studio monitors. It has a solid but non-boomy bottom end and utterly clear midrange/treble. It sounds the same as my Silverstone in the mids and highs (same horn/compression driver explains this), though the Silverstone has a bigger low low end (the Monza has a tailored low end response to prevent boominess at high volume). It can be heard very clearly standing directly in front of it, nearly on top of it, and well off axis. The driver can take a substantial amount of low end EQ, and even outright misuse, if the user happens to be foolish (slapping with big bass boost). It takes a low B well. The finish is top notch and it looks great. The handle is set flush with the to p, so can accommodate any head. 11kg is a good weight for a 1 cab solution. I don't have experience of the Barefaced 110T to compare it to, but I did have a BF 110 without the tweeter. I would say it's louder than the Barefaced 110 and has much clearer high end, unsurprisingly. Although it's heavier - 11kg vs 7kg. The only other small 10 I've owned which could compare in terms of frequency range was the old Acme 1x10, and this is is much much louder. The main difference I hear between this and the 12" cabs in the LFSys range is that the low end is slightly different for all of them. The Silverstone 12" has the biggest low end, then the Monza 10", and then the Monaco 12" is the tightest (but still good). All of the cabs in the range share the same mid and high end frequency characteristics - totally clear FRFR sound. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them if you EQ'd the low end similarly, which you can. I don't have any negatives to say about the cabinet. It's a premium product at a premium price, with top end components ands crossover. It is truly boutique. Stevie is going to organise that this unit is sent around to other folks for them to try it out. I'd say fill yer boots, it sounds great!!!4 points

Thought I'd do a quick cover with the Lionel I don't know why the bass picture is a little fuzzy. Probably had the resolution set a bit low. Ah well. It's only for fun.4 points

I did a gig once and a bass player in the audience came up to me and asked why I used 2 basses, since they were both Precisions. They were both Fender JAZZ basses, one was a lined fretless and the other a fretted. He said he couldn’t tell the difference, so I said I’m not sure if that’s a compliment or not!!4 points

You don’t see many of these (possibly a reason for that!). It’s a Bespoke Upright Bass hand built in the UK. I picked this up recently and it’s really interesting! The woods and construction are fascinating and the frame is a step up from the normal EUB. It’s a full size bridge which is very rare on an EUB. The notches are quite deeply cut and the nut is a bit crude. It’s a quirky instrument that will, if you have a spanner, come apart in about 5 minutes, so it’s ultra portable! Looking for £400. Currently stung with Golden Slaps and fitted with a pickup. If you don’t want the pickup, I’ll sell for £350. Collection preferred as I’m not sure how I’ll package it up! Ask if you need more snaps. Reason for sale is poverty, a lack of space, and the dawning realisation that I’ll be replaced by AI within the next few years.3 points

So here it is... Number 23 of 72 - A Ball Family Reserve USA Music Man Bongo 6. It is ridiculously good. I was VERY sceptical as to whether I'd made a good or bad choice buying this, but DANG, it's a monster. The tone is like nothing I've played before, (and I've owned a Bongo 6 before!) it cuts like a hot knife through the mix, the pallette of tones is exceptionally good and really easy to dial in. The neck is probably the nicest neck I've felt, and it's not half bad to look at! It's on another level this beast... I totally agree the aesthetics are very much Marmite, but I think I might just be on the 'love' side of that arguement! I'm very pleasantly surprised by this bass. I was expecting it to be a great bass, as well it should be for the RRP, but I wasn't quite expecting it to be a phenomenal bass...3 points

My dinner party story is auditioning Eddi Reader when she was an unknown and rejecting her because (a) she was so shy and (b) had an obnoxious boyfriend/manager. Just think how much better she’d have done with me… 😂3 points

You're being quite modest here Steve, the Pretty Things were quite a big deal for people of my vintage. One time rivals of the Rolling Stones in the art college scene around my part of South London and Jagger and Richards were part of their family tree. Sadly I was just too young to be allowed out to the gigs at the college in Bromley. Rosalyn was an early favourite of mine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretty_Things3 points

Reluctant listing of my Yamaha John Myung RBX 6-String. £800 including DPD postage (UK only please). Offers welcome, only trades would be for Ibanez multiscale headless 5/6-strings as that's what I'm raising the money for. I have owned it from new though very rarely play it anymore and I feel it's time for it to move on. I bought it new in, I believe, 2003. Always loved this bass and love that it's a bit different, one thing I always feel the need to point out is that the infinity inlay crosses over at the 13th fret whereas you would expect it to cross at the 12th. Plays and sounds great, all works and has had new strings not too long ago (Ernie Ball Slinkys). Volume pot works fine though has become very loose (as in the turn action does not have the expected resistance). Condition is good for a 20 year old instrument, some mild scuffs and dings all very small and hard to show in pictures. Gold hardware has the expected tarnishing. Has Schaller strap locks, I do not have the originals anymore I'm afraid. To pre-empt the inevitable question - weight wise it's either the heaviest bass you've ever played or at least top 3 (I will try to weigh it when I can, I do not own scales) The bass does not have a gig bag or case though I have an old guitar case and plenty of decent packaging to have it fit for posting. Please throw me any questions, and anyone who wants to make the trip to Faversham is welcome to try it out.2 points

This is the holy grail of bass and double bass amplification. It’s renowned and unrivalled for its legendary clear sound and light weight portability. This amp is used and revered by some of the finest players: John Patitucci, James Genus, Richard Bona, Victor Wooten, Chick Corea, Jim Hall... These amps are rare, particularly the blue light model. It is the most powerful of the Walter Woods amps. This piece is in perfect condition and comes with a gig bag. I’m selling as I’m no longer touring/gigging. Key info: 2 channel 1200W Bass Head -input jack -gain -bass EQ -tone balance -treble EQ -mid EQ -mid frequency sweep -effects send -effects receive -master volume -send mix (allows you to blend the original signal with the effects return) Master features: -pre/off/post toggle for the DI jack -DI jack (1/4") Back panel: -power switch -two 1/4" speaker jacks -small toggle to switch voltage (hidden inside heat sink so you can't bump it). Collection in person (Birmingham, UK) or I can look into shipping upon request.2 points

Took delivery of this guitarbuild Jazz body yesterday with a maple flame top & swamp ash. Really undecided on a finish except I’ll be using Osmo oil but not very sure how to go about sealing the swamp ash or if I need too. I’m after a natural finish really. The body’s a 60’s Jazz hence the hole emitted for the bridge wire.2 points

I bought this and another S1000 in natural from Bassbros back in March this year as an impulsive birthday treat, however they are just not getting used as much as I would like so I am putting some feelers out to see if anyone would like this one as I certainly don't need 2 of them currently, I will likely hold onto my other one for now at least. These seem to be rather rare and hard to come by and none for sale anywhere currently other than one on Reverb in Sweden for £1070.50 they are a great alternative to the full on status basses at a much cheaper price point. This bass has only left the house once for a rehearsal and has been played at home a fair amount. The marks on it are from previous owners as it came like this from Bassbros. Could be interested in trades, message me with any offers! Mainly interested in short scales or 5 strings currently.2 points

Here's a bump - it's Paddy's birthday today. Martin is doing a nationwide solo tour in Oct/Nov performing his favourites from the Sprout catalogue (quite a lot to choose from). Paddy is still suffering from Meniere's I gather. What a fantastic band....and Martin's a Stingray man no less2 points

Don’t daisy chain other pedals off the supply to the SGT-DI as it doesn’t like it ( feint whine ) If you have a decent isolated power supply for pedals it’s fine but daisy chain and it’s not happy. I know daisy chaining is frowned upon but I thought it’s worth saying !! Just played my Jazz through it and small EQ tweeks had it sounding like a PBass with a touch of added clarity The SGT circuit adds a warm tone and a very full tube like gritty tone. This sounds as good as my old V4B and CTM100 except without the weight !!2 points

Sadly, despite the reasons given, much of this "throwaway " gear will be working perfectly when all the Class D Amps we're currently using have given up the ghost and died and we'll all be reminiscing about how reliable it all was. As mentioned above, the best tone I can recall revolved around a TE (admittedly with Vanderkley cab). I have 5 stashed away.2 points

Good score. I got a V7 5 string in ash recently. after owning some high end basses, these are way up there. The pickups sound amazing without the preamp imo through an Aguilar/Eden rig. But when you flick that switch its 18v beast mode. Set up right these are fantastic. This is my fourth V7.2 points

Just to update.... What a difference a visit to the professionals can make. I finally got the chance to drop it into Thwaites. I figured that while it seemed solid enough, I'd ask them to give it a bit of an MOT, just to make sure nothing was going on that would cause me trouble in the near future, and to see if it was a candidate for bringing the action down a touch. They got back to me after a week and said that everything is fine, and that a simple reprofiling of the bridge would sort the action, so I asked them to go ahead. I picked it up this morning, and the difference is astonishing, it's so easy to play the whole length of the fingerboard. With what they have done to the action I don't need to move away from the Mittels, they're fine as they are now. I can't really perceive any loss of tone or volume, aside from a bit less thump (which I had been trying to minimise anyway) and a little more 'mwah', which is absolutely fine by me. Thanks to everyone for their input!2 points

Peterson Strobostomp HD complete with original box & internal paperwork..... in excellent condition. It has velcro on the underside, bit it's the issue tailored velcro that came with the pedal and is designed to fit and still show the 'pedal info' (see pic). Selling as I need pedalboard space so going 'mini' version. No power adaptor as it never came with one and it lived on a pedalboard. Price includes UK postage or collect and I'll knock a fiver off.2 points

The best synth pedal I've used. So much fun, tracks well, and extremely powerful. I went through a lot of synth pedals and I've found this to be the best by a country mile. Annoyingly though, I'm needing to reduce my rig size down to HX stomp only, and i know this will just sit gathering dust now it's not longer on a pedal board so it needs to be moved on. Velcro on the bottom. Excellent condition barring a few microscopic paint chips. Works flawlessly. Comes boxed, with control cable, and usb cable. 170 posted in the UK. Only trade would be for a newish generation multifx such as a mooer ge200, NUX mg300, or similar- needs to be 3 buttons, and newish - wee bit of money your way2 points

Hopefully if you contact Paypal or your bank and explain what happened, they may be able to do something for you. I know its already been said countless times before, but please, please don't use Paypal F&F to buy anything on here unless they ARE your friend or family and you know its them. Insist on normal goods/services paypal, and if the fee is an issue for the seller, offer to pay the extra 3% to cover it (and yourself). If they still don't agree to use it, and cash on collection isn't an option, run a mile. Thanks to those who reported the threads and alerted the team, we acted as quickly as we could. An event like this is VERY rare on Basschat but everyone needs to remain vigilant, especially when it comes to sending money to people you don't know in an insecure way. And yeah, if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't.2 points

Pipped at the no: 1 slot by Robbie Williams that Xmas …… story….Gordon called for the band to appear with him, we had our live equipment, we set up, played through the song and did a first ‘run’. The producer lady thanked us and said ‘that was great, it’s in the can’! Aside she mentioned she loved having live music played on the show……..meanwhile a Spice girl was having repeated attempts to get her song sorted out, backing tapes not being the problem, it was the dancers not getting their steps right 🤣🤣🤣2 points
