Fender 62 Jazz Vintage Reissue (1998) I bought this instrument 3 years ago as I've always wanted to try out this model/version from the period. I have been very happy with the bass and purchased what I thought at the time, and still do, is a good example. However, after 3 years of playing it and putting it down, I've realised that its not the bass for me - I have too many to choose from and it is now surplus to requirements. It plays very, very nicely and has that certain period tone to it with flats. It come with the black Fender hard case as in the picture and the case candy that I received ( Fender cloth and Bridge cover). I have left a Pick Holder on the bass (in some pics - but removed in the last four), which is only attached by a sticky buddy and easily removed if wished. The bass is all original and I have not tinkered with it replacing any of the parts or the finish. There are some marks on this bass (in you like to take it to the next level i'd be happy to take photos of these). There are some 'lighting' issues that I could not help but recognise when viewing the body finish but please be assured that there is NO discolouration of the finish. I have maintained the bass very well, cleaned body, frets, electronics, etc, to avoid any issues several times since I have owned it as I do to all my basses. I am based on the South Coast, just east of Portsmouth, and I would prefer if you were to travel to try before you buy. Failing this I am open to freighting it, and would pack the bass in its case, very well, and in a guitar cardboard bass box, but you would have to arrange freighting. If you would like more information or pictures of certain parts of the bass please let me know and i'll be happy to post the pics here or to you. Priced at £1850.00 ono + P&P. Any trial welcome.5 points

I’m offering up my Mayones Jabba 5 Custom for sale or trade. It comes with a Warwick hard case. Bought in late 2016 from Bass Gallery - I believe it was about about 6 months old at that point. I used it for about 4 or 5 gigs and it has pretty much hung on my wall since then, as I don’t really get on with 5-strings. There are a couple of dings on headstock. Other than that excellent condition and working order. Will get it properly serviced before completing sale. It comes with Schaller strap locks. Would prefer pickup. For trade I'd be open to similar value Jazz/PJ style 4-string bass5 points

Hate the whole 'Hack' thing... How many times has the 'spring gone ping' and stuck to the magnet on the underside... so here is a P Bass Pickup Fitting Tip... works equally well for J and other pups... I added a foam off cut to the body, as the foam on the back of the pickups was not thick enough to hold the bobbins in the covers... the pickups were too low and the springs were also getting fully compressed... Cocktail sticks in the screw holes... Springs on... then pups over the cocktail sticks... you can get a pointy thing in there to sort the wiring run. Remove one stick at a time and replace with adjustment screw... Use a sandwich bag between screwdriver tip and screw head to protect finish. I like a fairly compressed spring as it makes the pup a stronger anchor, lightly compressed springs, and/or soft or lightly compressed foam allow a lot of movement... pushing in.4 points

* Edit: withdrawing this for now to see if, with time, my injured left hand grows more comfortable with long scale * Absolutely mint condition, never-left-home long scale Serek Lincoln. Ebony board, dual Serek single pickups, hot rod red nitro finish, unusual J width neck (1.5"). Ordered from Serek straight before I knackered my left hand in horse riding accident in March which has left me only comfortable with short scale. Physio on my hand - as I had reinforced at hospital today - is going to take at least a year and I could use the money for other stuff in my life, rather than have it sat unused in gigbag. Comes with superb Serek padded gig bag and case candy. My £2,800 price tag loses me a bunch of money on the >£3k I paid, so no offers and collected from SW London. Alternatively, postage on top at cost and as agreed. PS, I will probably end up pulling this ad when I am less p*ssed off about my hand but for now its for sale Trade options added below: I already have a fabulous Serek short scale Midwestern 1 but would consider a second Serek MW1 or 2 or a Wilcock Mullarkey or Bisonic Serek ad with specs (NB, it weighs ~8.5 pounds, not the 7.5 pounds stated): https://www.serekbasses.com/product/serek-lincoln-34-scale-1-5-nut-serek-singles-hot-rod-red/4 points

Ampeg SVT-VR 300W (all valve Blue Line series) SOLD I bought this amp 6 years ago from Mark at Bass direct. It was freighted to me and I used it in a local Blues Rock trio. It has been a pleasure to own and use. It must of performed about 40-50 gigs in that time as I was selective on which gig I took it to. All the valves work fine, there are no scratch pots, umms, noises of any kind. I have had it serviced twice in that time by2 different local quality engineers (the first one retired) and have looked after it, as all my equipment (ask Chi Mike for reference). Its in excellent condition throughout and if you would like more photos please let me know. The amp comes with two covers. At almost 62 the days of lifting have long gone for me. I probably should have moved this on some years ago but its so good I couldn't - know the feeling.... I am based on the South Coast, just east of Portsmouth, and I would prefer if you were to travel to try before you buy. If you would like more information or pictures of certain parts of the amp please let me know and i'll be more than happy to post the pics here or direct to you. I'm happy for you to come and try the amp out - you could bring your own cab of use my Bergantino. £1150.00 ovno.4 points

Everything works as it should and overall in vgc, although I have repaired some light cosmetic damage (now hardly visible but reflected in the asking price). Comes with a cover tailor-made by Mrs Scrumpy and I've added rubber feet to the end opposite the carrying handle to protect it from scuffs when put down on the floor. Price excludes delivery but will travel a sensible distance for handover or pack well for collection if buyer arranges/pays for courier.3 points

Mesa Boogie 400+ Watt Valve amp, matching 2 x10 and 1x 15 cabs I've loved this set-up ever since I became aware of it in the 1980s and coveted it. I felt I was lucky to get the chance to buy this some years ago and have since only gigged it a hand full of times. It's one of the rare times I've experienced the power, authority and pleasure in such a sound. It is with heavy heart, that at almost 62, I have come to accept that I will not be using the set-up again and so must move on to pastures new. It probably realistically deserves to be either with a collector, a Pro recording and/or Rehearsal Studio. 400+ head - I bought a set of valves from Watford Valves when I first purchased the amp and had them put in. There are 11 of the original Mesa Power amp valves and 4 original Pre amp valves you can also have. It comes with two flight cases - the original Mesa wooden one and a padded RHIHO case I have housed it in to protect the amp better and also preserve the original case. I also have both the ends of the Rhino case - not pictured. EQ on/off pedal - Official pedal, you will just need a cable to connect this to the EQ input section 2 x10 Cab - The speakers were changed for a new pair ordered in from Mesa in California through Westside in Scotland. 1 x 15 Cab - Comes complete with the 4 attached castors, two of which are locking. I am based on the South Coast, just east of Portsmouth, and I you would need to travel to try before you buy. If you would like more information or pictures of certain parts of the amp please let me know and i'll be happy to post the pics here or to you. I'm more than happy for you to come and try the set-up out. £2400.00 ono collected.3 points

I regret never going to Glastonbury. With the crazy demand and hype nowadays I doubt I’ll ever get the chance. However, every year I smear h as much of it as I can in the Big British Castle. And every year I love it. No different this year. Day 1 has been excellent. Foos (I’m not a fan) Unknown mortal orchestra Carly Rae Jespen (never heard of her) Billynomates (first ever listen) All been excellent. Royal Blood …..🥱 It really is a magical weekend. Right, I’m off to have too many shrooms and sleep in my garden. ✌️3 points

Trace Elliot Series 6 GP7 715 1x15, 130W Combo in near immaculate condition and full working order. I purchased this amp about a year ago from a Basschat member who has obviously really looked after this brilliant amp. It is very loud for the stated 130W and sounds great. The build quality is excellent, as you'd expect for a UK made Trace Elliot of this vintage. Selling as I'm moving into an apartment and need a more compact rig. No trades. Collection only from Brixham area, or I can meet within a reasonable distance Cheers!3 points

Well that's a mouthful! 😁 I've had a Squier Bass VI since they released them but, like many, have never really got on with the string spacing, it's fine if you played it like a guitar. The Eastwood is much more like an actual bass. I'd been keeping an eye open for a used Eastwood but they just never seem to come up for sale. This one had been on facebook for a while but was too expensive for me, £300 more than new as it's one of the limited edition Fac51 Hacienda ones, so I'd kind of been toying with ordering a new one. I was selling stuff to buy the Peavey T40 I'd mentioned in other threads (I won't bore you) but the seller has decided to keep it. Feeling a little deflated I looked up the Eastwood ad and the seller had reduced it substantially. I made an offer and we struck up a deal. Now, I wasn't after the Hacienda one, it's kind of tacky, and being only 51 made is more of a collectable than a player, but I got it for a couple of hundred less than a new standard one so what does it matter? And being a huge Joy Division/New Order fan helps. It'll sit nicely with my Yamaha BBPH. It's never been played, just bought then squirelled away, so is absolutely mint condition. It's actually way nicer in the flesh than the pictures online make it look. Well built, lovely finish (I'm a fussy git) and really nice neck wood with quite a bit of quilting and grain, it looks really 3d as you move it in the light. It feels so much better than the Squier to play, the stock strings are fine and the spacing feels much better for me. Although wide, the neck is very shallow so feels very comfortable. It sounds fantastic, of course I had to put it through my EHX Bass Clone and play some New Order. 😁 It was bought as a 'let's see' kind of bass, which is why I was after second hand. But after a few hours of playing I can already tell it's a keeper, it just feels right where every other Bass VI I've tried doesn't. Anyway you must be bored by now so here's some pictures. 😉2 points

One and only price drop - £750 Ibanez med scale headless bass with upgraded gigbag and knobs, with mono strap and fretwrap included (original knobs and gigbag also included) Good condition bar small nick at headstock (common on these) and a bit of chipped finish at the strap peg. Most ergonomically comfortable bass I've ever played, super lightweight, mega comfortable neck and balances like a dream. With a mega punchy sound. Has 3 band active eq and active passive switch. Knobs are a custom made resin knobs which reacts to UV light (made by woodland cast in Canada), gig bag is a Shergold deluxe padded guitar bag (perfect fit) Mono strap is a black L mono Betty strap and fret wrap is the perfect size for a 5 string Selling as was bought for a project that didn't pan out, and I'm a 4 string guy at heart Can look at shipping at buyers cost but would prefer local collection or will delivery locally for free or try to arrange a meet2 points

Two recent acquisitions. First came the BB2000 (from Alex Carr). I’d lusted after a BB2000 since receiving their catalogue when Making Music Magazine did the old business reply card system. As a young musician, I gazed/drooled for hours at the BB pages. I was never into Fenders at the time so I’m not sure why I was so fixated on them. I drove down to Reading and collected this 1982 bass at the beginning of April. What a stunning bass. Change of strings and a Setup to my preferences and it floored me. Stunning tone and playability. The MC924 I drove to a gorgeous village outside Tonbridge on Saturday and brought it home with me. I got it from the original owner who bought it new in 1980. I had an MC900 which I sold foolishly around 20 years ago. They’ve always been in the back of my mind with the intention to replace it. The neck on this one is far superior to the one I sold, the clarity of the tone is so much better than I remember too. Again, string change, Schaller straplock buttons and setup and it’s a beautiful player. Both keepers.2 points

I bought this one not long ago from a gentleman here. Absolutely a stunning bass. Unfortunately, GAS being GAS, I have just committed to buy a fairly expensive (for my standards) fretless and I have to sell something. By the way, I am selling this for £190 because this is what I paid for it. I don't feel like flipping for profit here. But the price is too low. The neck is superfast. Just perfect. The Duncan Designed pickups sound great. Looks beautiful. According to my bathroom scale, this is 3.8kg. As I write this I wonder if I should really be selling. But the fact is that, quite frankly, among my basses this is probably the one that can raise the most money and the one with the least personal attachment (all my other basses are cheap, modded, and have quirks that do not bother me but would bother others). It's pickup only from Bromley. EDIT: I could also meet in London although I am not there very often. Note that Bromley is 20min train from Victoria with Oyster. No gigbag2 points

In a few minutes I shall be revisiting the heady days of 2005 when a mate asked me if I wanted to see a band he'd heard on Zane Lowe's new music show on Radio 1. Ended up at the Wolverhampton Little Civic to watch the Arctic Monkeys playing to a sold out crowd of around 100 people. Damn good they were too, though neither me or my mates had any inkling of their imminent meteoric rise. As the only band I've ever seen in a tiny venue that went on to become genuinely massive and stay the course (for nearly 2 decades now) they've always had a special place in my heart.2 points

No, I’ve just got back home after doing it today. I was a bit sweaty when I got there, but we are a dad-rock covers band so it wasn’t a problem 🤗. To be honest, walking there started out as a necessity as my car needed serious repairs I couldn’t afford. The wife’s car wasn’t always available, bus times were unsuitable for rehearsal times so, it was hoof it time. I’m a regular long-distance walker. Often with my brother, who is an ex-Royal Marine suffering PTSD. I’m the only one who can cope with his hours of silence, sudden mood-swings and (almost) match his drinking capacity.2 points

Massive sellers regret coming on lately over the one I let go in 2021☹️ Overall vibe, neck feel and profile, string spacing etc are very, very close to a StingRay 5HH. In between sounds were wonderful. I've realised I've partly now got a Sterling Ray35HH( which is a lovely bass in its own right) not kust because it is half the price of a used full fat USA one, but also about trying to atone for some of the Dimension Deluxe 5HH sellers regret I currently have. Trust me, If you see one come up for sale, buy it!!2 points

Selling my Barefaced Big Baby 2. It's been the best cab I've ever had works superbly as a single unit or, when paired with other cabs at louder gigs. It's extremely portable and when paired with my TTE500, I can do a single load in! Extremely clear and true sound! They've since been upgraded to the Gen3s but, this has never let me down and is a gigging bassists best friend! Minimal damage, which is all highlighted in the photos! No posting, but will happily meet within sensible distance of SO31. Tech specs - https://barefacedaudio.com/products/big-baby2 points
