I was in tesco a while back and there was a flamingo lamp, we got it as we have a friend that loves flamingo stuff. I noticed it was just an outline channel of a flamingo and some lit pvc rope with pink lights in it. Wondered if that was common so trotted off to ebay and sure enough, tons of light rope there in lots of colours. Wonder if I can make a sign with this - trot off to youtube, and sure enough, people making signs (isn't the internet great). So as green is sort of my bands colour, I bought 5M of green rope, which is just over a tenner - like this: , I had some plastic sheet, so cut that down to 60cm by about 30, did a scrolly font on a piece of paper, got some gorilla glue (great stuff) and wired it all up on the plastic. Probably joined more letters than I should as I didn't want to have a million wires, and there is a dead led at the end of the r underline. Its not perfect, but it occupies a place between incredibly naff and absolutely awesome, but I am pretty happy with it! The first L is a bit squiffy - you literally have seconds with that glue before it sticks and I left it too long. in fact the ls are a bit too loose, but I am ok with that. Not sure what to put on the back, but next night gig, this is coming with me!17 points

And...it's finished!!!! The 'last few jobs' always turn out to be a 'myriad of final jobs. Anyway, all sorted. I'm passing it across to Alex tomorrow - I will try and get him to do a bit of recording at one of their band practices but, in the meantime, you'll have to trust me when I say it sounds great Although it is just a small wiring change and no hardware change, I've opted NOT to go for the P-rails standard wiring system which gives: Full series humbucker; parallel humbucker; P90; Rails. I've used that system in a number of my own gigging guitars and I found that: - the fact that both pickups are always in the same configuration for the four options is actually, ironically, quite limiting. I was always hankering for, such as, 'neck pickup full series humbuck for the depth, mixed with bridge pickup in split coil mode to add a bit of extra treble and dispel any muddiness' and similar - I also never, in practice, used the rails by themselves...not enough ooomph - and I never, in practice, used the humbuckers in parallel...not enough depth I talked that through with Alex and, for kickoff, we decided to have a standard split coil option for both pickups where the operating coil in each case was the P90. So he can go full series humbucker with 3 way options, P90 with 3 way options and one (either) pickup P90 and the other series humbucker. It's a 30 minute job to change the wiring to the 'P-rail standard' options if he wants to try that in the future. Anyway, here are some of the arty-farty finished pics: Many thanks for looking and for your kind comments - in spite of the fact that it is another one from 'the dark side'. It's hugely appreciated8 points

Here's a thing you don't see every day. I know nobody's got any money right now, but some things are worth throwing away a credit rating for, shirley? This is an absolutely drop-dead gorgeous StingRay Classic from 2010, in a divine Sonic-alike blue that was only available for one model year. It is immaculate -- but for a small chip in the headstock varnish, which can be seen under the big letter R in the logo, I'd be calling it as-new. If you aren't familiar with the Stingray Classic, it's a 'reimagining' in the original 1970s style and features the following vintage stylings: Slab body 7.5in radiused board Simple non-compensated nut Larger vintage bridge with foam mutes Through-body stringing Metal battery cover 2-band EQ and “classic” headstock logo. The guitar has a striking Birdseye maple neck with gloss finish. It’s set up nice and low with Ernie Ball Extra Slinkies (.040 - .095) and plays beautifully. Included are the original hard-shell case and tortoiseshell scratchplate (which still has the plastic film attached). For some reason this never gets played much. I'm mostly playing extended-range basses and I'd be afeared to gig this anyway. So it gets looked at every now and then, and I run a few scales up and down the neck, for old time's sake. I love it to death, but it deserves to be more than just a beautiful ornament. And anyway, I've other (non-bass) things to fund. Our kitchen scales reckon this weighs 4.49kig, or 9.89lb. It's neither the lightest nor the heaviest bass guitar I've ever used. Width at nut is a Precision-like 41.3mm. Feel free to make me an offer, but please note that I won't be letting it go for silly prices. If you can even find a second-hand Classic these days, the price tag tends to be nearer £2k. Apologies to non-UK peeple but I won't be posting this overseas. And I'm definitely not up for trades, again sorry. Price doesn't include shipping, which is likely to be pricey. But of course, it's free to collect and I may be able to arrange drop-off within a reasonable distance. Now advertised elsewheres, but a bit cheaper here dontcha know ... Nuff sales talk, here's the pr0n: (See that chip under the 'R'? That's the only mark I can find)6 points

Hey all, I've reluctantly decided to put my Fender Jazz up for sale as need to raise some funds. It's a 2015 USA Elite, 4 string, an absolute beast of a bass soundwise and an absolute joy to play. I'd go as far to say the best and most versatile bass I've ever owned. I've owned it since 2018, and it's in very good condition bar a bit of wear and tear which I've tried to capture as best as I can in the pics. Info: There was a little dent on the top/side and I purchased the matching Fender paint to fill as best as I could which I also rubbed down a little to give it the 'road worn' effect. Some of the sheen/laquer has come off the front top horn area, which can only be noticed in certain light. Otherwise fantastic, striking to look at! It comes with the black Fender hard case. I'm looking for £1050, collected, or can post at your expense (would have to be arranged by the buyer). Can meet within reasonable distance if easier. Will consider a trade for a 5 String either straight trade or part ex / cash my way only. Based in Swindon Thanks Freddie5 points

Jona Lewie was also Mr Terry Dactyl of the dinosaurs. I had the privilege of honking some tenor sax at the end of their not-hit ‘On a Saturday Night’ - (well mixed down in the final cut) whereas the bass player was up front and centre - my pal Malcolm Starr on a vintage..... Sousaphone!5 points

Hi folks, I’m selling this top quality classic bass amp for £250 plus p&p. I’ve advertised this before here and retracted because I couldn’t bear to see it go, but here go’s again. Plenty of power with 400 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms, 235 @ 8. with a superb tone. Preamp valve (12AX7 or 7025) Toroidal transformer. Superior components. Semi-parametric EQ 5 bands. Compressor control. Enhance control which cuts low Mids and boosts everything else, smiley face if you like. It’s often considered as one of the best Eden USA models made (1998 vintage) Excellent condition and working order, all original guts and is quiet running. Carried in protective aluminium case. Masking tape easily removed but left as useful guide in dark places. Welcome to trial/test here in WV14 pre potential purchase. Cheers Geoff4 points

This may be old news to some, but in a rare departure from its usual parade of the annoying and irrelevant, Facebook's suggestion algorithm popped this on to my feed: Jona Lewie doing You'll Always Find Me In The Kitchen At Parties on TV in 1980 featuring a very fresh-faced Kirsty MacColl on Precision and BV's. For some reason the fact she's using the came-in-the-box Fender strap is especially charming 😊 (Note for younger or overseas listeners: Jona Lewie is known for releasing two songs 43 years ago, one was quite good, this is the other one.)4 points

Afternoon all, I bought this from new on a gamble. I love the finish and look of these and having owned a Dingwall I know I get on with the fanned frets. At the same time I ordered some payson black dagger strings and a hipshot D tuner, and when it all arrived I set it up ready to go. It plays beautifully. It looks amazing. Alas, it’s not for me. The larger body size makes it quite bassy and I’m used to brighter sounding, more mid based basses. So, it’s in brilliant condition, looks amazing, has a D-tuner fitted (original tuner will be supplied too), vinyl “scratchplate” removed and comes with the supplied gigbag as well. The gigbag in itself is impressive as it’ll fit most basses as a normal gigbag but comes with a removal velcro “wedge” to accommodate the body shape. Whilst it’s listed for sale, I’m very open to trade options. I primarily play 5s and active basses at the moment, but open to any trade offers because if it’s a sale then I’m stuck with a hanger with nothing on it. Based down in Portsmouth on the south coast.4 points

I'd love to commision a bass version of this, would £75 be enough, I could go to £100 if I push the boat out. I can try and sell one of the kids again, but each time I do this, the buyer comes back and demands a refund. In all seriousness, I'd just hang it on the wall on a rotating peg and just look at it. Some people pay seriously silly money for art. To me, this is just as good. I'm very much in the form follows function camp, Bauhaus and all that stuff. This blows that principle out the water. I would say 'on' is subjective. Holding, more like. Given the pop sensibilities of your average Runaround audience, KM could just as easily have just danced around in the background.3 points

As truly awful as that song is, anything with Kirsty on it is good to see. So sad that she was killed in such a horrible way and that justice has been perverted. Love you, Kirsty.3 points

Anyway, £190 including tracked 48hr postage anywhere in the UK. This sounds great and i have nothing against it, however i bought it looking for something very specific, which was very low gain subtle break-up. This can do that (but not quite what was in my head), but also much more aggressive dirt with vintage and modern modes of operation offering quite a versatile sounding pedal. Stupidly I already had the pedal that does exactly what i was looking for (a Durham Electronics Sex Drive - thanks ovnilab!), so I'm moving this one on. Condition is barely used and looks pretty much new apart from the velcro on the bottom, and who wouldn't enjoy that? Would consider a trade for a Boss OC5. Or perhaps something filtery. Or something else of equivalent value. No fuzz/distortion though. Collection possible if mutually convenient, in central London/West London, in which case i will knock off a 10er, the price of postage. Thanks G2 points

Nice Fender made in Mexico Player Precision bass for sale only. The bass has been upgraded with a Japanese Gotoh vintage style bass bridge and a set of German made Schaller tuning keys for rock solid tuning. Fitted with a set of Ernie Ball Slinkys strings. The bass weighs 3.9 kg or 8.6 lb`s. There are a few very minor marks on the body of the bass and a couple of dents on the underside of the headstock but they are barley noticeable form the front. The rest of the marks on the body are dust, it`s really difficult to photo a black body! The bass does not come with a gig bag or case. There is a spare red tort pick guard that you can have if you want. I am unable to post at the moment but may be able to do so in the next few weeks so it`s collection or meet up near to Paisley.2 points

Ian Allison on SBL refers to this kind of thing as double art. The instrument itself is a work of art and it can be used to create more art.2 points

Someone needs to commission a bass version of this. It would be a normally fretted, artisan version of the Dingwall D’Bird. Ah, but this could be the instrument to inspire and enable you to become the player you dream of being (enabler, moi? ).2 points

Wow, fabulous and utterly stunning. I'm somewhat pleased that I will never be good enough to play such a fabulous guitar, I could never do it justice, so there's absoutely no point in me having it. My mediocrity saves me here. There's nothing else I can say. It's a work of art. Rob2 points

Currently it looks like this so needs some tidying. I will probably run the white leads along the backs of the letters to near the edge - I haven't decided on a backing, my wife things I should use mirrored acrylic, which is an option. I do need a frame or something to both hang it on and give it strength to not bend, not sure what to make that of yet!2 points

If you really like the Kiloton and you can afford it I say go for it. Yes, there are loads of basses well suited to different musical styles, some are more versatile than others... But, if you have fallen for the Kiloton, and who can blame you?, get it otherwise it will always be at the back of your head as a "what if?". Buy a bass that inspires you to pick it up and play it. Other great basses are around, someone mentioned the Sire V7 and V9 series which are superb instruments, but they don't have a single, fat humbucker in the sweet spot like the Kiloton does and they won't punch and thump like one. They'll do other stuff better but.... So what?2 points

Days don’t get much better - rocked a 50-plus lunchtime crowd in Bournemouth’s St Peter’s Church with the Otis Jay Blues Band. And it was St Peter’s Day…who knew! Off later to see @casapete and his ELO Experience at the Pavilion theatre about a quarter of a mile away. It’s splendid, but I reckon our venue is even more spectacular.2 points

For £200, maybe. EDIT - nearly spat my tea out when I saw it had been listed as "very good (used)" condition on Reverb. Are they high? With a band name like Mammoth Weed Wizard B'stard, there's a fair chance, I guess...2 points
