Otis Jay Blues Band played an assisted living complex in Bournemouth. All good clean fun, got some people dancing in their seats and/or on their feet. My Elf and Barefaced One10 kicked it in the outdoors, and I am still enjoying my recently acquired Flea bass. It almost plays itself!13 points

Now £295 Here we have one of the highly regarded Squier 40th anniversary gold edition jazz basses. This bass is the subject of multiple threads on here due it's general awesomeness! It feels like a premium instrument, looks fantastic and has a seriously punchy sound. It's a massive upgrade over the standard Squier line and offers amazing value for money. I didn't intend to sell this one but I currently have too many basses and needs must. You know how it is. Collection from Margate or I can box it up if postage is required. Note, I currently have a parchment pick guard on the bass but the original metal one (shown loosely fitted in the last pic) will be refitted prior to sale.10 points

That must be about the most unsexy gig anyone could play. If I was to find myself living in a place like that later on in life I really hope there would be people like you coming around to play. Top blokes the lot of you. Well done.9 points

Brief camera phone footage taken by one of our singers from Sunday’s headline slot at a local music festival in Banstead, Surrey. Great turnout - on a par with last year’s 30+ degree weather - despite the preceding days’ weather threatening a damp squib. Fantastic line array and subs sound system courtesy of local chaps Sound Solutions (soundsolutionssurrey.co.uk). No affiliation btw… IMG_0082.MP49 points

I`m selling my Wal Pro2e from 1979. For her round 44 years the old lady is in very good condition with the usual playwear of those years. Recently the bass has been checked by a reknown bass luthier and an electrical engineer: everything works as it should. The bass comes with new DÀddario strings and new battery in its blue dogbone Wal case. This Pro2e is one of three made with the mahogany/ash/mahogany body as far as I could find out. The other two belonged to well-known english bass players. Mine at least was played by one of them. The additional XLR output to the jack was a custom option then and not every Pro2e has it. I`m asking 6.500,00 GBP/ 7.500,00 Euro. Too much or too cheap make me an offer via pm.7 points

Due to a pricey house bill coming in much higher than expected, this is now up for sale. Having had 3 JMJ basses now (don't ask, I'm an idiot), I can safely say this one is fantastic! In great condition apart from the obvious relic from the factory. No fret wear. All working 100% Comes with a new stay fender gig bag (short scale), original Fender flats, some round wounds and fitted with La Bella. Also includes the perl white pick guard. £950 posted or collection from near Linton Cambridge.6 points

Ibanez Roadster 80’s 32” Medium scale. These are quite rare now and it took me a while to find, it was a hideous turquoise blue when I got it, I stripped it back to reveal a lovely grain 2 piece body, I treated the body with true oil which really brings out the grain (there’s a small ding on the 2nd fret) I’ve replaced the tuners with hipshot ultralights in gold to match the brass bridge & gold knobs (the originals were rubbish and this improves the look & balance) it’s supremely comfortable light to play with a pretty low action, it comes with its original hard case (there is still a little bit of evidence of the blue on the back) the only thing I never got round to replacing was a headstock logo. I’m in Swindon, Wiltshire NOW £4506 points

One day I'll just stop... One day. Added an EBS Microbass ii yesterday and put all the other pedals into a loop. I might go ampless a lot more now so having this pedal and the ability to loop the others into it gives me a lot more control. I also moved the Limiter/ Enhancer to the end of the chain rather than first, which I'm not sure about yet, giving it some trial and error. I swapped out the Marshall Guvnor for a Jackhammer and I think it will stay that way. The Guvnor was really good for lead guitar style tones but the Jackhammer is a lot more usable and can switch from overdrive to distortion. The AMT Bass wah might go soon, I like bass wah but I'm hardly using it at all. The Joyo Analogue Delay and Marshall Vibratrem were good, cheap additions, and for some synthy songs give me a little extra texture and sound fantastic with fretless. The Darkglass Fuzz remains as ever, absolutely fantastic. It's probably my favourite pedal. I experimented with a Marshall Regenerator which has six modulation types onboard but I ended up preferring my TC Corona for bass at least.6 points

REDUCED to £2550 for a quick sale - If the bass I'm looking at goes, I'll put the price back up or withdraw tbh. This is a fantastic Jazz! All case candy, case, original pick guard, covers, certificate, floor traveler. Frets all good and no wear I have a box and packaging if you want to arrange for collection. Or collection from near Linton, Cambridge. Aged scratch plate in Mint green added from a German company that cost me £70. 9.2lbs on my scales though I think it was advertised slightly lower.... EDIT - Back up for sale only as something has come up I’d love to try. Not looking for trades as I need the cash for another bass Original GAK pics and GAK description:5 points

The night after the above Huginn & Muninn gig, I was playing keys and weird noises with space-rock band Litmus headlining Friday night at Tannerfest, in Loddington, near Kettering. A few photos have appeared, but I am invisible in all of them. The email I received with this photo said: "Richard is represented by a glowing green stripe" - which is actually part of my keyboard stand setup.5 points

Here's a pic from a gig I did a couple of weeks ago with gonzo morris duo Huginn and Muninn. I was playing the nyckelharpa, while Jess played a shaman drum. It was an album launch party at an East London brewery for the band Raven Age, recently (currently??) on tour supporting Iron Maiden. Apparently one of the band members is Steve Harris's son. Hence the pic:5 points

One more pic.... I has finished it. Came out well... Apart from a router incident but I somehow managed to salvage it. 7.2kg. Now off to give it a spanking 😁5 points

So here we have a beautiful American Original 60s Jazz in sunburst, with G&G case, never fitted ashtrays, mute foam, and all case candy. There is a minor chip in the headstock logo at the end of the 'r' in Fender and also the headstock lacquer has got some minor cracks under the surface, but hopefully these are shown in the photos. Collection or meet up please. No trades needed. thanks Steve5 points

British 90s solid state amplifier with plenty of midrange cutting through mix with ease. Great dynamics response and articulation exposure. Amplifier is in perfect working order. Specification: Active/Passive input sensitivity switch. 7 band graphic EQ with level adjust. Pre-Shape filter. 2 independent characteristics. Balanced XLR DI output. Compressor Effects Loop. Line out. Speaker: 1x15 Trace Elliot. Poweramp: 150W RMS. Dimensions: 60x 50 x 34 [cm]. Weight: 35 [kg]. Many thanks for looking.4 points

This series has just kicked off on Sky Arts, with all six shows available to download if you're suitably equipped. It's pretty much as it says on the tin, a band performs a "classic" album in its entirety. The bands and albums are. Stereophonics - Just Enough Education to Perform Simple Minds - New Gold Dream Gregory Porter - Liquid Spirit ABC - The Lexicon of Love Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive! Dexys Midnight Runners - Too-Rye-Ay Now I'm not sure how many of these count as classics, but I'll be watching maybe around half of them. Of currently active bands - who would you like to see in series 2, and which album would they perform?4 points

Another reason why I love Basschat... I've been using a few effects on my bass for the first time over the last couple of years. I then decided to get an amp with built in effects. However, some of the open mic and pub gigs have been amp-free so I had no effects. I'd borrowed a couple of pedals recently and had decided I needs to build / buy / fund a small board. Reading this thread and BAM! It is obvious, quick online purchase of a cheap(ish) multi-effects unit and job done. Plenty good enough for my needs in those settings. Cheers everyone!4 points

And stuck on 🙂….tug bar 🤮 I’ll have the aluminium version hopefully on by the weekend. I also took the sheen of the front & wiped on several coats of wax….it’s like Andrex toilet paper when I could afford to buy it it’s really smooth. Pickups well according to Hosco the bbt has 20 mm spacing so I’ll probably go for closed covers or Nord’s blade type nowt worse than strings not aligned wi poles….that’s just me tho.4 points

Picked up a few pedals from here recently so been busy making a stand with a drawer for a couple of smaller boards. Wanted to try using both QMX and Swiss Things on a larger board, didn't really work so opted to use them on smaller boards.4 points

Firstly price. I can not find a price guide but given the rarity and original condition I priced in line with current hand wired boutique amp's and the vintage Wallace XT's @ Soundgas. I am open to discussion of course. Anyway here we go. Burman pro head and matching 4x12 Cab flightcased from new, I am the original owner bought direct from Greg Burman back in the day. Specifically I had a variable mid range frequency option added for greater tonal versatility. The knob is the one closest to the red power switch far right, It works wonderfully. Don't let the 140W rating fool you this is old school heft. The Rig's always been stored indoor's when not in use and serviced. Flight cases are in the lockup so no pic's just yet but those interested in fine wiring and glass see below. Questions welcome Collection obv's preferred on this one but I'll ship if need be at cost3 points

Hofner Violin Bass May 1964 There is a distinct joy in playing an early Hofner but it's time for someone else to take ownership of this beauty. The all important neck reset was carried out by a London Hofner specialist and a brand new period correct handmade GmbH Jakob Winter fitted case is included. Currently strung with Labellas which sound fantastic ( I will include the Hofner set which have 0 playtime ) The earlier Hofners have a certain tone the later instruments just don't have, perhaps partly down to the lack of routing under the pickups ( there's just a wire hole till later ) anyway a superb original example ready for another 60 years. Shipping at cost any questions welcome3 points

Just buy it, try it, find you do or don't like it and decide the route forward from there, I have gassed for a Gretsch White Falcon since I saw Billy Duffy sporting his back in 1986, I still want one today, the pain doesn't go away.....that's it I'm off to buy a Falcon and the scratch that itch, I knew Basschat would help me see sense3 points

Ok finally got round to fab up another control plate, tried to follow the body contours using some template paper but it really wasn’t getting there…..so I made another bell plate bought another small sheet of fleece backed veneer & et viola 👇. Got some 1/2” aluminium bar to make a tug bar as I don’t like the one that’s on the body just now. I’ve got the bridge on the body it’s a Hosco bbt using Fender threaded saddles….dunno what happened to the Hosco saddles must have used them I think. Next will be a neck from guitarbuild so feel free to chime in wether a rose wood or maple board….I’m not sure.3 points

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I finally decided on a set of Bartolinis, so bought some from Bass Direct. They turned up with broken lugs (on my birthday! Boooo!) so they went straight back. Full refund including return postage the minute they got them back, top marks to Ash at BD. As luck would have it, a set of Lindy Fralin 5% Overwound (the very ones recommended by @Bigguy2017 ) appeared on ebay the next day, so I snapped them up for eighty quid less than a new set. Get in! I also went for a @KiOgon VBT loom with S/P pot, which is a beautifully made little thing. It all went to the luthier yesterday (I need a grownup to do that sort of thing for me, I'm barely allowed to handle safety scissors), I should have it back today or tomorrow... I'm like a toddler on christmas eve. @Raslee Thanks for the offer, I'm sure they're lovely, please sell them to @krispn ! Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.3 points

Thanks for the kind words, folks - snaps were on the phone then a little tweaking / filters. The amp is just a work of art so it even looks good with shoddy pics. 🤣 I think it must be nearly ten years since it had a re-valve although I've toyed with various preamp tubes / positions over the years. Disappointingly and rather surprisingly, changing them doesn't seem to actually make that much difference unlike the older V-Type series that seemed quite responsive to tube rolling. The bias remains reasonably stable for the big bottles (although it does need a tweak from time to time) and it's certainly not lacking any grunt or power so despite their many hours of service, it seems pointless to change them. Those EHX KT88s were a good investment as they have been by far the most reliable and stable power amp valve I've used in the V4. My SVT has EHX 6550s so I'm hoping they'll be equally hardy and long-lasting.3 points

If an item on Gumtree appears on your Facebook page and you click on it because you want to know more, the most common single-button communication that you're offered is: "Hi, is this still available?". It's just a suggested way of starting a conversation/negotiation, nothing sinister.2 points
